Large park that has a mixture of attractions. It falls naturally into two halves.
The 'top half' has a small playground, bowling greens, tennis courts, football fields, a cafe that is open in the summer and a Victorian viewing platform from which you can look out over the city.
The 'bottom half' is where the boating lake isor duck pond. A body of water somewhere between the two sizes, complete with ducks, some geese and the odd terrapin.
There is another, slightly larger playground here and a large field that hosts the fairground when it's in town.
Peel park also has hosted the Mela festival and other public events.
It's main problem is the lack of toilets. The only one in the park is in the cafe. When the cafe is closed, there isn't an alternative, make sure your kids go before you set off. read more
