We enrolled our son at Peek A Boo Daycare (an in-home daycare) in September 2022 when he was just over 1.5 years old, based on a trusted recommendation from a colleague. Now, almost three years later, he's transitioning to TK, and while we're excited for this next chapter, leaving Peek A Boo feels incredibly bittersweet. From the very first visit, my husband and I felt confident in our decision. Joy took the time to give us a tour of her home and walked us through everything she provides--structured routines, meals and snacks, learning activities, and most importantly, a safe and nurturing environment. Signing the contract shortly after felt like a no-brainer. The setup was exactly what we were looking for. Peek A Boo offers so much more than just care. Each day includes circle time (songs, counting, shapes, projects to bring home), marker time (drawing, coloring, learning to write names), outdoor play, naps, and consistent routines that help young children thrive. Our son's speech and confidence noticeably improved within the first few months--something we attribute largely to the positive environment and social interaction at daycare. Joy and her two amazing caregivers truly became like family to us. They celebrate birthdays and holidays, and there's a real sense of community. Trusting someone with your child, especially at such a young age, isn't easy--but not once did we ever feel our son was unsafe or uncared for. Joy is incredibly transparent, professional, and communicative--whether it was a quick text, a newsletter, or an email about upcoming vacations or events, we were always in the loop. We are so grateful for the love and care our son received at Peek A Boo. He adores Joy and his friends, and we know he's going to miss seeing them every day. We absolutely loved our time here and already plan to enroll our next child when the time comes. My daughter started coming here right before she turned 2. From the very first day, we felt comfortable leaving her here and she enjoyed it and never cried or whined about going to daycare. Joy has a great structured program with circle time, outside play time, arts and crafts, and much more. The kids learn a lot...She is only almost 4 and already knows how to write her name! I also love the flexibility of drop off and pick up times. A bonus is that breakfast, lunch, and snacks are provided too! They celebrate birthdays and have events for the kids for Halloween, Easter, and other holidays. Her 2 assistants are wonderful and great with the kids as well. Long overdue review of an amazing daycare that nurtured my child for the past 3 years! My son went there for the first time when he was barely 1.5 years old. The staff was very kind and supporting, helping him to adjust to new routine and effectively expose him to English language (as my child is bilingual and was previously familiar with another language). As a mom, I've always felt heard and understood, all my concerns and questions were always addressed - which was super important to me. I knew that my son is getting the best care while I'm at work and I'm so glad I've picked Peekaboo daycare! Nurturing and carrying staff brought feelings like they are an extended family of ours. Mrs. Joy and her home were such a welcoming and happy place for my daughter to go to daycare. She went there from ages 1 to 5 and went to preschool and kindergarten educationally prepared. Her home is clean, and the kids have an amazing routine of meals, circle time, arts and crafts, and playing outside. Our son started at Peekaboo Daycare when he was 2 years old and stayed there until he was almost 4.5 years old. Overall, we were very pleased with the care our son received while at Peekaboo. Ms. Joy and her assistants took great care of our son and we never worried about him. Peekaboo created a fun learning environment for our son. Not only did our son learn how to socialize with other children, he learned his abc's, colors, numbers, they did art projects, stretched/exercised, danced, sang, etc. Lastly, Ms. Joy's home is safe, clean, and set up perfectly to care for the littles. My daughter started going to Joy when she was 1 and loved it. She learned so much from Joy and her staff. Joy is great at what she does and genuinely cares for the kids. I knew that when I dropped off my daughter she was in good hands. My daughter would come home with crafts that they made during the day and was always excited to go there. We highly recommend Peekaboo Daycare! Our son and daughter attended for over 2 years and were well prepared for Kindergarten. The kids practiced their alphabet, numbers, writing their names, sang, danced, had plenty of toys to play with, made crafts, as well as much needed outside play. We didn't have any issues with the daycare or instructors as well as other kids. Even during the pandemic Ms. Joy was on top of the latest COVID-19 news, precautions, protective equipment, and procedures to ensure the safety of the kids and her staff. Joy is AMAZING. My son learned so much and finally became accustomed to interacting with other children within a short amount of time here. I love how she does activities and crafts with the children, it's always exciting to come home to a new piece of art that my child's made. Also, being that my son has a pretty strict diet he has to adhere to, she was very accommodating to this and stuck to it completely. My son has been with Joy for about 2 years (2 1/2 - 4 1/2 yo). He has learned more with Joy and Christa (assistant) than he did his previous daycare and surprises me constantly with new things he knows. He has developed a group of friends at this daycare and he is sad to leave his friends and Joy as he ages out but is excited to start kinder in a couple weeks. Her home is always inviting and she always makes conversation with parents when they engage. I have seen parents not say two words to her, let alone other parents or kids that try to engage, which is unfortunate but she always greets everyone. She participates in a state food program that ensures the kids are fed good meals and snacks each day and follows all dietary restrictions we are parents put into place. Joy always lets me know if my son is struggling or had a bad day, and emphasizes the things he is excelling at. They have a schedule each day and any parent knows how important structure is to kids, circle time, crafts, play, etc are all integral parts of a child's life that Joy focus' on daily. My son has a story for every craft, or teaches me what he mastered every day, etc and she handles conflict between the kids perfectly. So for this reason, I know that Joy and Christa are taking great care of my son when he is there. The review from April of this year, is more off base than I can express with words. In my opinion, Joy is never anything less than warm and appropriate. Comfort levels, etc must fall into place as the parent(s), the child and the provider learn about one another and as with everything in life, child development is a two way road and communication is vital to success in any relationship. I am beyond greatful for Joy and Jen and the rest of staff for always going above and beyond and giving me that piece of mind that he is well taken care while at work and Joy always had the open communitcation with me at all times which made it so much eaiser for her and I to adjust schedules if needed for late pick up/early drop off etc also Joy made me feel part of my son's day by sending out pictures of their activities just felt amazing lastly they also instilled the tools needed for him for to get started for elementary school I am sad we had to leave because he is now going to big boy school. I feel so fortunate to have found Peekaboo Daycare when my first son was just 18 months (2017). We were new to the Elk Grove area and going back to work after having a child, can be a difficult change. Luckily there are wonderful places like Peekaboo to ease that transition. Mrs. Joy and her staff have always been warm, caring, fun and always willing to work with you to ensure your child is thriving in the best possible way. Mrs. Joy and her staff have engaging activities for the kids that are specifically geared to build a foundation for learning. They have 1 on 1's with each child to work through their daily lesson (alphabet, counting, numeracy skills, colors, shapes, etc.), they learn gross motor skills, work on developing their fine motor skills and learn language skills. I am so proud of the development (emotional and physical) my 1 and 3 year old have experienced while in the care of Mrs. Joy, Ms. Jenn and all the staff at Peekaboo Daycare. At the end of the day, my little ones always come home happy and full of energy. We have had experience at 2 other daycare's (for our 1 year old while we were on the wait-list at Peekaboo) in Elk Grove and I can honestly say Peekaboo Daycare is one of the Best!!! I wholeheartedly encourage anyone looking for quality childcare for your little one to check Peekaboo Daycare out!! This daycare was not as caring as the other reviewers have expressed. The home is clean, but the care provider didn't seem to show much enthusiasm for the kids. Maybe she was tired on those several days I had my child there, but there was a definite lack of warmth. I also noticed the strangest thing where parents picking up their kids would stand at the door and she would hand them their child and there would be no exchange of even a single word! No "hi, how are you doing?" or "Your child did great today." No verbal summary of how the child's day went to let the parent know if there's any concern or even if there was nothing of issue, it just so strange to see two people who are involved in this child's life as the daycare provider and as the parent not even exchange greetings. That definitely was a big red flag in my mind and soon after, my husband and I decided not to enroll my child into this daycare even though we already paid a $175 deposit to hold her spot and that was not even partially refunded to us even though we were told there was a trial period and we can withdraw without consequences and we were putting her in on a drop in basis to see if it was a good environment. The neighborhood and the home might be nice, but it was more important to us that the care provider cared! The package looks nice, but if the inside is no good, then all is not well. read more

We love Peekaboo Day Care! My daughter's experience here has been excellent and I cant thank Ms. Joy, Ms. Jenn, and Ms. Maria enough. We started when my daughter was about 16 months old and even as parents the process of finding the RIGHT FIT in a provider can be overwhelming and challenging. I actually interviewed 2 other daycares before finding this one and I was not pleased with the other two, until I stepped foot into Ms. Joy's house. She was warm, welcoming, enthusiastic, and very easy to talk to. I felt the positive energy right away. Her day care is well kept, cleaned, filled with the right amount of play, and her backyard is an open space with a playground and additional outdoor activities for the kids. My daughter has surprisingly thrived under the care of her teachers - this is not just a daycare where they play all day, but they also give kids the opportunity to learn, socialize, explore - through circle time, art projects, and other activities! From the time my daughter has started to now, she is able to recite her ABCs, count to 20, identify shapes/colors, learn the names of her classmates, and sing along to most nursery songs. But more importantly, it's the nurturing (structured) environment along with the love and compassion that come from Peekaboo Daycare in which my daughter has grown to enjoy every single day. When they hit pre k their level of reading and writing was up to par for the kinder level. They left Mrs Joy to go to Bradshaw Christian. Joy is simply the best. She is great with kids and their parents, and clearly loves the kids who come through her doors. My son coined the phrase "JoyCare" for going to her house, and I think that really sums up what she's about. Her parents named her well. :) She has a balanced approach, with a good schedule that incorporates lots of free play with some structured activities. My son has been going to her daycare for over a year and a half, and she has nurtured his growth in so many ways. She is also a professional with lots of experience. This has been important for us in a number of ways. (1) Phases that I worried about she chalked up to my son just being a kid, and helped me as a first-time mom to just wait and see (of course, intervening when necessary). There is not a lot of drama around normal childhood stuff. She is relaxed and nonchalant. She just knows kids, and things that might make me crazy in a roomful of small people she handles with ease. (2) There is not a lot of guesswork involved with working with her. She is good with paperwork and with keeping the parents up to date on the important stuff. She is responsible and will put you at ease that you're leaving your child in the best hands. Can't recommend her highly enough! read more
