In the previous four years he had been in five different centers for various amounts of time. None of them have provided him with the exceptional level of care he is receiving here. My sister and I feel very lucky to have him being taken care of by the staff at VSE. Other places had much newer buildings, with more modern amenities and open floor plans. However, the care provided at the others was never this good. He is well known by the staff because they have taken time to learn what his idiosyncrasies are and how to adapt to them to keep him safe. While he admits he is stubborn, the issue is with his impulse control, and he'll attempt to do something without waiting for the help he needs. Knowing this, the staff keeps a close watch and has noted the times of day when he's most likely to do things he shouldn't. They then make sure they are checking up on him to provide the help he needs. The administration provides regular Plan of Care meetings to inform us of his progress, let us know of any issues that may have come up, and to ask us if there are any issues we have or concerns he's made us aware of. None of the other facilities were as open and communicative as VSE. They call anytime there's a medication change, fall or other issue. We frequently had to leave voice mail messages waiting for days to get a call back from other places where he stayed. Sometimes we couldn't even get anyone to answer a phone if it was not during business hours. I highly recommend the Village of St. Edward's Nursing Care Center in Fairlawn.

They were really good about setting up a quick appointment for me since I was out of my meds. They do not shy away from treating people with all types of conditions. They really are caring people and treat you like a family member not a chart. They worked with me through appointments and have helped me through every step of the way. They now have me on the correct meds I should be on and have me in what I consider the best shape I been in. The main person I deal with is Meredith Pressnell. She is a great person and a great nurse practitioner. I would highly recommend anyone that is looking for a doctor that listens to your concerns and treats you right to check this place out. Dr.Smelcer was extremely friendly, completed my PAP lickity split with absolutely no pain and wasn't afraid to answer my questions. If he didn't know an answer or wasn't confident in the area of discussion? He wasn't afraid to say it instead of blowing smoke! LOVE THAT! There's also an adjoining emergency room, but this review is purely for the experiences with the doctors in the non-urgent care, particularly, the chiropractic department. This facility has the biggest parking lot ever, but its never full or crazy like at other hospitals. Yet, the facility always has patients. I'm not sure if people are teleporting here or what, but I digress. I love St. Vincent because: + No BS scheduling. They are so quick and flexible at every facility. Its amazing. + I really feel the doctors and nurses are incredibly trained. I have had many experiences others places with doctors following "the book" and failing to be creative or see things right in front of them. + Parking is a breeze. + They are profoundly organized. He greeted us at the car got a wheelchair for my mom checked her in while I went and parked the car and did the same when we exited the building what a fantastic gentleman. The woman that helped us I think her name was Trish Tricia, Dr. Tricia, who gave the Cortizone shot and spoke with us was outstanding well educated clear speaking just very kind human.
