Well, If all you want to do is shove your loved one in a hole in the ground, then Peavy funeral home is the place to go. Since Mr. Peavy Sr turned the business over to his son Travis and daughter in law...the compassion is gone and all they will do is shove your loved one in a hole in the ground. They will not honor their word, even when you have a written contract for pre paid funeral services. They will make excuses for why they can't. Travis will make excuses and belittle you for asking them to fulfill the contact and verbal agreements. Travis probably cares as much for grieving people and the deceased as much as he probably cares for a dead animal on the side of the road....maybe even less. My Mom was embalmed in a different state then transported to Peavy for internment services. When she left the funeral home here, she was neat, pretty and looked professionally "coifed". When I saw her next in Florida she looked like she fell out of the hearse and plopped back in the coffin. No one bothered to straighten her hair and clothing. See, we at first said we wanted a closed casket....but then some of my siblings asked if she could see her one last time. Travis didn't count on that...He thought he wouldn't get caught letting my Mom remain disheveled and uncared for. Oh and while I'm on the topic...at my Dad's funeral Travis stood in the back of the sanctuary laughing and yukking it up with some friends about hunting. I actually turned around in my pew so I could shoot him a dirty look to make him quiet down. Marlon Peavy was a compassionate gentleman. I don't know if the other funeral home in town is any better I have no experience with them. But I have to believe no one else in the funeral business could care any less than Travis Peavy. As for the value. I had a written agreement with Mr. Peavy's blood daughter for the cost of the funeral. Well, Travis and his wife ran her off, and then would not honor what the agreement was and additionally approved by Mr. Peavy Sr. They tried to tell me Mr. Peavy senior denied knowing what the agreement was, yet I have emails with his name all through it giving approvals. I prepaid for a specific casket...they told me that I could no longer have it, I was told some flowers were included in the package...no flowers came (other than the ones my friends and family sent). I was told, by Travis(ty) that they will not finish my moms grave unless I send them more money....yet the service was already paid in the contract. He's just muscling me out of more money for his pockets. No one, in all my conversations with his wife ever mentioned an additional weekend fee...until he got involved. I'll pay them the fee because he is holding my mother's grave ransom over $650.00!! Shameful...money grubbing behavior. Blountstown is a small town in which most everyone knows everyone else. I am not a local, but I have friends there. When I was telling my friend about all this, she (who is a local) stated the town is already talking that the son's behavior is ruining the business his father built. She further advised she has friends who have already chosen the other funeral home in town because they don't want to deal with Travis. Good luck Travis....I'm going to make sure I tell everyone what you said to me this morning...oh and when you hung up on me for calling you out on being rude to me. Yep...folks you read that right...he hung up on me when I told him his father would never speak to anyone the way he had just spoken to me...click.... read more
