Having missed the taste of real Louisiana cooking and wanting to really get to someplace where I could "be real" and enjoy some good fare for a decent price, I was pleased to have touched down at Louis Armstrong Airport and then drive about 20 minutes north to LaPlace to pass a good time here! Ready with all your traditional favorites and right on Lake Pontchatrain, this shack did not disappoint me at all as I enjoyed my Seafood Gumbo, red beans and rice, and smothered pork chops. Oooh! Who am I kidding! I also took some of my friend's catfish which was excellently seasoned! And who knew that I would be getting a bit of laniappe cake to go with the automatic salad that I have become used to not getting up in New York City!?
And the service was prompt, courteous, and homestyle! I know that there are a ton of other places that offer a similar yummy experience, but we need to acknowledge the good one's that we might otherwise take for granted.
