His office staff are polished, professional, and attentive. I greatly appreciate that Dr. Gay's office has an on-site lab (massive time saver). I also appreciate the patient portal where you can make appointments, view your lab results, view your prescriptions, ask questions, etc. On two separate occasions, Dr. Gay needed to refer me to a specialist. Both times he pulled out his phone and called the specialist's office right then. Not only was I floored that he personally made the call, but he also arranged appointments for that day! One of the occasions was more urgent and Dr. Gay and the specialist communicated back and forth several times before I was admitted to the hospital. Dr. Gay even called me directly to ensure that I got to the hospital. Dr. Gay has proven to me that he truly cares about me as a patient and as an individual.

Whatever Odyssey House of Utah lacks in expensive decor, it more than makes up for in rich tradition, history, realness, power, and the fact that it will choose to save a life every time it can - even though many programs that are not truly mission based, charge tens of thousands per month, and actually have substantial profit, will choose to distribute the money to owners instead of to scholarships. NO disrespect to a business making a dollar, believe me, I am a libertarian with strong fiscal conservatism in my blood - I simply have seen Odyssey's beauty in design by eliminating that entire potential conflict of interest. When reviewing the medical bills we paid and what was also paid by insurance we realized that our insurance also paid them what was owed. We called them, they recognized they double charged and said they would send us a check in the mail. 9 calls and 3 month later, we are still hearing that the check will go in the mail tomorrow. I think they think we will just let this go. We will not. During a very difficult time for our family, navigating a new life situation that came at a high expense we should not have to spend so much time on the phone asking for money owed to us. We only should be focused on healing. How can companies like this take such advantage of people already in such a vulnerable situation? We pay so much for our insurance every month to make sure we have good coverage. Even with our insurance they required payment before delivery. We knew our insurance would cover this but the hospital required proof of oxygen in the home before they released him and Alpine required payment before delivery, even though they had our insurance. They have been paid twice and each week they tell us the same lie... the check will go in the mail tomorrow. This right here is an example of what people are fed up with. It should not be this way. Shame on this company. Shame on taking advantage, Shame on the lies, and Shame on stealing from people. If you are part of the LGBTQ+ community, then Dr. Matthew Bryan and his support staff (Rebecca Klotzer, Laura Barker, and Fredy C.) are AMAZING! The time, patience, and care that goes into each appointment I have had with any of them have been some of the best that I have experienced. They genuinely care about understanding you and your concerns and have always made me feel comfortable and welcome and most importantly made me feel like I can actually be open and honest with them. However, that is where the "Amazing" fizzles. Reception/front desk staff are just short of robots and don't seem to have any authority or availing to take initiative to find a solution. Seems to be hit and miss but has been mostly a miss for me. So, for LGBTQ+ care, those Dr. mentioned above are STELLAR! However, a health care system is only as strong as its weakest link, and in my experience, the general support staff just do NOT have the same patience, knowledge, or care when it comes to providing quality services.

EPIC had an incorrect address, so she never received this invoice. You would think after the post office returned every statement as Undeliverable/No Such Address someone in the billing department with half a brain would have said hmmm....maybe I should check and make sure the address on file is correct. George at EPIC gave me the name of the doctor. My parents have no recollection of ever being seen by this doctor that billed $2,200. Requested a copy of the invoice/statement. Told they could only send by mail and 7-10 business days. Ever heard of email? Just delaying so they can add more interest and fees? When I informed them that they had an incorrect address, was told by George that once sent to collection they cannot do anything about it. He admitted the address error was EPIC's fault, but refused to take any action to correct their billing error. Checked with the insurance provider. No invoice was ever received from this provider. George at EPIC confirmed that the invoice had not been submitted to my insurance. Why? Why wasn't her insurance billed? Were they afraid the insurance provider would identify this invoice as fraudulent? EPIC has 54 complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau in just the past three years. I am concerned that they are targeting senior citizens like my mother.

I received a bill in January 2019 stating that I owe $1,278 from services rendered in July of 2017…read more I paid the bill immediately and have been attempting to work with the billing department and insurance company since. The original answer I got from the "Manager," KD, is that my insurance terminated prior to the service date. I contact my insurance provider and receive notice that the billing department did not submit the claim in time. I call KD back and she states that they didn't receive the correct insurance information prior to November 2018. Regardless, my address and phone number were the same in 2017 as it was at every appointment from July 2017 until now. She then proceeds to tell me that she isn't required to bill my insurance, that it is done as a courtesy to the doctor's clients. I asked to speak to her boss, after all she isn't the chief of the company, and I have a voicemail from her stating (verbatim), ".... they said it's not worth their time to give you a call. I am the office manager and I speak for them." Unfortunately, after almost 15 years of service with Dr. Sandra Phillips, I will be finding a new pediatrician for my children.
