The Colwyn Bay store however has opened in what used to be the Litten Tree pub. It's a decent sized shop, spread over two floors. A bit over half the shop is given over to clothing and shoes but you'll also find lots of other stuff including toilettries, household appliances, DVDs and so on. Personally I was a bit underwhelmed. It's not all that cheap, mainly because a lot of the stock is expensive to start off with so even discounted it's still quite expensive. It's a bit like one of thise ex-catalogue shops were all the RRP's are twice what they are anywhere else. OK but not great.

The recent double dip recession won't have come as a surprise to the residents of Colwyn Bay. Over…read morethe last month or so the shutters seem to come down on a number of shops in the town centre. It's therefore pleasing to see at least one new shop buck the trend by opening, even if it is one I'll almost certainly never make a purchase from. Having taken the opportunity to browse the menswear section it's clear there's nothing here for anyone like me. It's mainly cheap designer brands like Crosshatch and t-shirts displaying tacky slogans like You Looked Better From Behind or pictures of half naked young ladies. Now, nice as these pictures might be, they're not the sort of thing I really want emblazoned across my chest. If I was eighteen years old and planning an evening out in the Prince Madoc then maybe they're but not exactly appropriate if you're, er my age, and planning an evening pushing a trolley around Tesco. I think there's more chance of me winning the lottery (and I never buy tickets) than there is of me buying anything from this shop but I nonetheless wish them well and hope this unit stays occupied for some time to come. The shop sells clothing, shoes, soft furnishings, homewear, gifts, etc. The clothing is, in my opinion at least, aimed more at the older shopper and I would expect most people without a bus pass to come away a bit disappointed. A couple of negatives as well. Firstly the building is basically a barn and really needs redecorating inside. It looks shabby which creates a poor impression overall. Secondly the reductions aren't as generous as you would expect in an outlet shop. For example the last time I visited I found some Ben Sherman T-shirts which had been reduced from £29.99 to £24.99, a saving of only £5. Overall it's OK for the older shopper but not great.

Since then it's had a makeover and having visited for the first time in years I can now report it's a very clean and modern looking buildings selling clothes for the over sixties. Actually there were one or two small sections of clothing for younger people, brands like Brave Soul and Lambretta, but only very limited ranges. And there didn't appear to anything for kids at all which disappointed my eight year old daughter.

It's three floors of high end designer products. I felt scruffy going in with my mates but the friendly staff made sure I felt welcome.
