It houses a small, eclectic collection of exhibits focusing on subjects ranging from the local music scene to the history of segregation. The titular Harriet Tubman is memorialized in art and sculpture, but I could not figure out why the museum had this focus; Tubman is of course an impressive figure but as far as I could tell she was never anywhere near Georgia (the national park site in Eastern Shore Maryland is the area where she actually lived). Another aspect of the museum which puzzled me a bit was an exhibition on Tyler Perry, who again doesn't seem to have any local ties but is apparently a bigger cultural figure than I would have guessed. A mural on important historical figures is intriguing, but bizarrely excludes native Georgian Clarence Thomas and casually throws in figures like Bill Cosby and OJ Simpson while omitting some rather important pieces of context. Other parts of the museum focus on some starkly negative aspects of local history, as well as inspirational stories of success; military heroes get detailed stories here, but I was also impressed by a wall of black inventors. Overall, I found it a museum with some good highlights, but overall a mixed experience with some unfortunate lapses and not really a large enough place to drive from anywhere not in the Macon area just to see it.

I was looking to buy a car at the time and decided to try my luck. Their mailing did not mention anything about what they did or the sales pitch that I'll get when I go there. I thought I would go there, try my key to see if I won, and be out of there in a few minutes. I was totally wrong!! I arrived a few minutes before my appointment and was told to wait in their waiting room until my appointment time. I thought OK, I guess I'll do that. While I was waiting, there was a brochure laying on the table and I starting reading it. That's when I found out what they did. I immediately wanted to get up and walk out, but I really needed a car so I decided to tough it out. The salesman came in and started to give his sales pitch. I noticed his face was stone cold and emotionless. He was cold, manipulative, and he was out to get my money. In order to be a member, they required that you give them over $2000 up front. That was a lot of money, so I asked if I could think about it for a few days before deciding. He rudely said NO. Sooo, he wanted me to give over $2000 to a company that I knew nothing about.....right that instant?!? Bulls***!! After hearing that, I knew I wasn't going to be a member. I probably should've walked out, but I decided to play around with him a little bit. While he was giving the tour, I would ask all kinds of dumb and insinuating questions about the products they had and about their scamming company. One of the questions I asked was whether there was anything wrong with the products that he said were high quality and brand new. He didn't like that too much and didn't answer it. A family was with me during the tour and I wanted to make sure they didn't get scammed. The tour took almost 2 hours and I was led into a "holding" room. The salesman walked in and he went off on me. He was a lot older than me, so he was talking down to me thinking he was superior. Great way to treat your potential customer! The whole time I smiled and quietly let him vent. After he was done, I went off on him saying this company was a joke and a scam and he was no different than a greedy used car salesman. I told him to f*** off and I walked out and drove away. I didn't even try to win the car or get the consolation prizes. DON'T FALL FOR THEIR MARKETING TRICKS!! If you receive a mailing from them, throw it away. Google "uniway rip off" and you'll find tons of complaints from people who have been scammed and ripped off. Their website even looks fishy and made up. If you have been ripped off, complain as much as possible. Hopefully it would shut them down and stop them from scamming other people. UNIWAY.... GO F*** YOURSELF!!!!!

I went in Saturday to buy a firearm. I settled on one. I verified that it was new. The clerk…read moresaid it was. The clerk said that he'd give me 10% off for being a veteran. I decided to buy it. It was inexpensive, so, 10% off roughly became $250. I filled out the paperwork, and we completed the purchase. I asked about the 2nd magazine. The clerk said it only came with one, which seemed odd. I asked for the box, the clerk said it came with a bag, and put it in a black plastic bag. I checked online and the firearm should come with 2 magazines. The 10% "deal" he gave me is less than the replacement cost for the second magazine the firearm should come with, nor the warranty, nor the lock and other items. I will be contacting the manufacturer to let them know of this shops shady dealings in an attempt to have them blacklisted as a retailer. I understand that you may be desperate if you are shopping at pawn shops, but you do have other options. Have a great day.
