Don't let the Austin-y, trendy marketing fool you. This place has turned out to be just another for-profit vet clinic, not some bastion of pet lives. Due to the cookie-cutter treatment approach, my elderly cat is desperately trying to recover from an overdosage of thyroid medication and inappropriate flea medication. We're talking loss of bowel and bladder control, lethargy, fear, and zero appetite. I have been taking my cats here for two years (not to mention given them thousands of dollars of my money) and they have not even bothered to respond to my email or phone message I have sent to the manager/owner. I've been going to Paz for almost 5 years now. I've been to all locations and I've always been impressed with them. However, recently they completely blew me away with their service and compassion. Within the last 6 months I've had to put two dogs down. Each time they brought me to a private room set up with pillows and blankets, peanut putter, Hershey's kisses, cheese spray, and other treats to spoil my pup until the end. They even cut out hearts to put on the bandage for the port! The vet cried with me, comforted me with kind words and the tech made sure there was a seamless transition with leaving/paying. Then within the week following I got a card signed by all the staff. Putting down a pet is never easy but I was sincerely comforted by the Paz staff in making the process much easier. I'm that crazy dog lady y'all. I have 3 rescue dogs, accidentally fostered a momma and her pups from the shelter, and accidentally adopted one of said pups, turned my house into a kennel, and cook my dog real human grade meals. The humans in my house had to get curbside during shelter in place because I was too exhausted to cook for them after I'm done being Martha Stewart for the dogs. My bar is high, and PAZ is absolutely the best veterinary practice hands down. A+, 10 out of 10 and I'm not easy to please, especially when it comes to my babies. The staff is amazing, and genuinely care about their clients. The offices are warm and inviting, and dogs are allowed on the furniture, because this is Pet Mecca people. I was so impressed at how fast they adapted to new normals during the shelter in place, so our fur babies could still get excellent vet care. One less thing for all of us to stress about. And you would think it would a complete mess, but somehow all of the staff knew exactly what was going on, and when my Bella got an ear infection, I simply called, pulled into a parking spot, and had a phone consult to get her taken care of. I can't say enough great things about PAZ. I've never been to a vet that I truly felt was 100% honest and transparent with me - until I started going to PAZ. There's nothing I hate more than being pushed vaccines and medications that my pet doesn't need because of random "guidelines", "suggestions", or of course, money. At PAZ, I feel totally confident that our vet (we see Dr. Riddick - she's amazing!) - is really only suggesting things that are crucial to my cats' health and happiness. Not only that, Dr. Riddick takes the time to sit and chat with us, really understanding our concerns and questions. It's so rare to not feel rushed along in a medical office these days, so I value this a lot. Another thing I really appreciate is the obvious compassion every one at the office has towards animals. You think this would be a given at a vet's office - but it's not. The number of times a vet or tech has manhandled or scared my cats with their rough handling has been too many to count, and this has never happened at PAZ. They're extremely gentle and take the time needed to make my cats comfortable when they get shots, exams, etc. To top off the extremely high quality, compassionate care both the animals and humans get at PAZ, the space is amazing. It feels more like a home than an office. They've totally done away with the sterile, vet office feel and have warmed up the space with colorful, comfortable furniture, artwork, and decor. There are separate cat and dog waiting areas, as well as totally separate hallways of rooms for cats and dogs. The techs and people at the reception desk are always friendly and helpful. This place rocks! Everyone is super friendly, the building is amazing, they have cold brew, espresso, and even beer while you wait. The doctors are always very caring and make sure to follow up with you, and the technicians are all great! Dr. Lassin took great care of our puppy, got her seen right away, and most importantly resolved our puppy's issues and got us on track to a healthy forever puppy, plus he sent us a follow up email that covered any questions we have and more! Melanie (the nurse) was fantastic, she was very knowledgable and so sweet/loving with our pup that it made her super comfortable even though she was at the vet. I will recommend this clinic (and especially Dr. Lassin and Melanie) to anyone that will listen! read more

Took my 14 year old dog into clinic for heart condition. Couldn't help me much and only referred to cardiologist. Then took him in for regular vaccines and waited 3 hours. Also took back for coughing issue, vet looked at him for 2 minutes told me there is nothing they can do and they charged me $180. Then my dog got an ear infection, he gets chronic ear infections, asked for the medication, which his previous vet would give all the time ( written all over his notes) they told me I had to take him in. Taking in a 14 year old dog to leave him there alone with heart issues ( cardiologist said not to stress out) is not a good idea. On top of that I had to call about three times to try to talk to a vet, with no response and even at the end the vet would not speak to me!!! Don't recommend this place for an older dog with many issues!!! read more

Fantastic people who really care about your pet! I took my puppy for visit while living in austin over the summer. My puppy had a bump in his eye that was causing irritation, I was very concerned. I saw PAZ had great reviews so I called and they got us in the next day. The folks at the front desk checked us in quickly and even offered coffee. They were super friendly. The doctor that checked out my puppy's eye discovered he had a virus that causes lesions. I was impressed with hope fast he was able to diagnose exactly what was causing irritation and was not alarming about the issue. He was very calm, reassuring and helpful. Our sweet tabby cat, Angel Phoebe, became ill recently, and I needed to find a veterinary clinic that could see her the same day. We have used a well-known clinic in the South Austin for our Chihuahua/Terrier pup, but I did not want to use this facility. I frantically searched through Yelp and found PAZ Veterinary. I cannot remember the wonderful young lady's name who helped me over the phone, but I think her name is Brooke (my apologies in advance if I got the name wrong). She worked us in, and as as soon as I arrived, she had a technician ready to take Angel for her exam. I was afraid of what was going to transpire and broke down into a sobbing mess. Brooke provided one of the vacant patient rooms so that I could wait for a doctor to talk with me. The prognosis was not good, and after a thorough explanation from Dr. Adam of what was happening with our cat, we made the decision to transition our Angel Phoebe so that she was no longer struggling and suffering. My words cannot convey how amazing Dr. Adam, Miranda, Brooke, and the rest of the PAZ team were in handling our situation. They were comforting, professional, and considerate, talking us through each step of what was happening with our fur baby. Thank you, PAZ team. This place is the best! I adopted a senior dog several years ago and have had a really hard time finding a vet that is sensitive to her age. I felt like every time I went to other vets it was a pretty grim experience- not here! All the staff treated my pup like a queen even though she is a little ball of grump. I saw a lot of negative recent reviews people so I wasn't sure what kind of experience it would be. Overall very good. That reception staff was nice and responsive. Vet tech was sweet. Doctor seemed informed and was able to give me alternatives to inflammation meds since my dog has higher liver enzymes. I was able to get a rush appointment which was really nice since my regular vet doesn't have an opening for literally weeks. They called me before administering any meds/procedures with an estimate which I appreciated since a lot of the complaints I've seen are around cost. I was in and out in about 30 minutes. That being said, my regular vet is a lot less expensive so I will not be switching here due to higher prices. Overall service was great and if it's an emergency I would feel comfortable bring my doggo back here. read more

My wife and I cannot begin to express our love and gratitude for Paz Vet. We started with them a little over two years ago when they were still operating under the name Corner Vet. We have a very rambunctious and accident prone 8 year old Goldendoodle. Our go-to vet is always Dr. Riddick. She has seriously seen him through everything. From GI upsets to broken toes to routine vet care. Dr. Riddick treats Tobey as her own and I'm convinced he may love her just a bit more than he does us. I cannot say enough good things about her. She and Tobey have a such a sweet relationship. She's seriously the kind of vet you hope for in caring for your animals. Our most recent visit was emergent and truly alarming. We were fortunate to have both Dr. Croudep (also amazing; gets extra points for being a fellow Louisvillian ;) and Dr. Riddick working together to help make our boy feel better. While he is still on the mend, it was so great to see him smile and wagging his tail when we arrived to pick him up. We also just added a rescue pup to our brood and took her in for a routine vet check recently. Of course they were just as wonderful with her, as we'd expect! You will never find a more attentive, honest, and truly caring bunch of pet lovers than these guys have to offer. Tobey enjoys going to Paz more than he enjoys almost anything else We love them so much that we just stop in periodically to say hello! Couldn't ask for better care for our babies, Tobey and Tilley. Dr. Lindsay Riddick has seen my grandma cat twice now and I think she's THE greatest. Just had the best experience at Paz! I brought in a cat that found us last week. The doctor was thorough and not rushed. She answered all of my questions. The tech, Amanda, was so sweet and her love for animals was apparent. She wasn't annoyed when I asked questions I could have easily googled. The front desk team took their time and went above and beyond helping me sort through a microchip issue. We just added a puppy to our home. We haven't had a dog in 40 years so we haven't visited a vet in a long time. As newcomers to Austin Paz was a few blocks away. What wonderful place! The veterinarians are very good but the parking here is terrible. As well, their prices are just too expensive. We found a different vet because of the prices. Veterinarian care is very important but it should also be affordable! What made us make the choice to leave is when our dog became ill. I called them in the morning to get him in as I KNEW it was bad. He was not able to stand up or support himself. He was 16. They told me that they could not get him in that day and referred me to the emergency vet. I called around and found a veterinarian who was willing and able to get us in that day. For this office to get an emergency call for a furbaby who has been a patient there for years and then, to refer them to the emergency vet??? No. I called at 10 am that morning. The vet we went to ended up finding is getting our business permanently as they took us two hours later and our little buddy was not even a patient there. That's a vet that will keep us. Our little guy had a massive stroke and had to be put to sleep that day. The LAST thing you want to do when faced with a circumstance like this is to be on the telephone trying to track down a vet. The last. Finally, whoever answers the telephone is very, very short and quite rude. Not acceptable. There ARE better places to go with compassionate, professional care. We found one. read more

We have been clients of PAZ on the east side now for about 6 years, and we fell in love with Dr. Senthirajah, but he moved to the south office. We initially stayed put, but weren't as happy as we had been with him. We followed him down south and just saw him for the first time in 2 years, and we could not be happier!! We brought our 5 year old dog, and our new puppy to see him, and we were actually invite to be one of the first in-person clients back in the office after the curbside service had been doing on during the pandemic. All of the staff are just amazing, and Dr. Senthirajah is SO good with our boys. Everyone is just so patient and caring, and put us at ease from the moment we arrive. He is one of the most thorough vets I have ever met, and gives us all of the options available instead of making us feel like we only have one choice, which with many vet offices, is the most expensive. He takes the time to answer our questions, and even personally calls us with labwork results, and to check in on our boys after their annual vaccines. If I could have him for my own primary care doc, I would drop mine in a heartbeat, we just can't say enough good things about the whole team at PAZ south! read more

No nonsense here. I have been bringing our dog to Corner Vet since we got him in August. He's had to go way more times than he should, because he gets into everything. And the doctors are not jerking us around. They've had plenty of opportunity to oversell us products, to help him with ailments, and they never do. They are honest, they remember my dog, and they are friendly. You get what you pay for. This place may be a little more expensive, but I never feel like I am not getting the value out of it. read more

I can't recommend PAZ enough. My sweet guinea pig, Ferguson, was handled with such care. I brought him in a few months ago for a cyst on his neck that Doctor Lawson (trained with exotic pets) drained and called me multiple times throughout the process. When he was delivered back to me, it was his daughter that dropped off Ferg. A tech was with her and I was in tears. As I drove off I heard the young lady ask, "why is is that woman crying?" The tech said, "because she's happy, because she loves pet." The other day I awoke to him needing to be euthanized and rushed there without calling first. They immediately took him and let me be there in the room to hold him while it happened. I can't imagine a more considerate group of people. read more

I'm new to Austin and in the midst of moving, didn't realize my dog was due for vaccines this month. Based on other reviews and the proximity to my temp housing, I called PAZ. They were accommodating with scheduling, and were not put off when I mentioned that my dog has incredibly high vet anxiety. Sure enough, my boy was quite a handful, but Dr. Croudep and the techs were more than patient and did their best to minimize the stress of the experience for all of us. I'm grateful for their approach to veterinary care, and will continue to bring my pets to this office regardless of where we end up in the city. read more

Felt bad for receptionist. I have been going to South 1st Pet Hospital for years. Corner Vet recently took over. We went to the Ceasar Chavez location and they were thorough. I came to get heart worm meds for dogs. In the past it took me 5 mins to run in and out. This time took me well over 15 mins. The receptionist was obviously overwhelmed. The phone was ringing off the hook and no one was answering it. The line continued to form behind me before the poor girl could even come help me. The meds (same brand as always) are now almost $20 more (from $56 to $72). If you are going to charge more then do away with the hipster decorations and the espresso machne and hire some more help. read more

The prices are fair but I had a bad experience with the front office staff. They didn't listen to me and just told me that I had to pay up front. I called them for an emergency visit and had a sick dog, and to call a vets office where they didn't listen and just wanted my credit card number was kind of a turn off. I went in anyway since the office is close to where I live but I think the front staff needs better training or more compassion. The vets themselves are really good and nice so it's unfortunate that they were poorly represented by the front office staff. Unique experience. My dog is very (VERY!) nervous at the vet and this was the best experience he's had since he was a puppy. The vet and vet tech were sitting on the floor w me and my pup to check out his infected ears. They took time to give him treats/ ask him for his tricks and he has never done so well at a vet before. Maybe it's the non-clinical set up but junior seemed to barely realize it was a vets office. I have been to Paz south a few times over the last couple of years, as their east location was awesome the one time I went. Each time I've left Paz South, I've said to myself - I need to find a new vet. The Female vet I saw there had zero bedside manner, and was pushing that I get anti anxiety meds so he is calmer during vet visits. Energy is everything. I have been to Paz West recently... and spoke on the phone with them many times before bringing my dog in for a check up... no-one mentioned that it is curb side drop off / you can't go in. Most other vets are now allowing you to go in... this is information that would be good to share PRIOR to arrival. When i expressed this to the receptionist at West his comment was 'oh, we're still in stage 3 in the city for covid'... ok, got it, point is, communicate with us the drop off protocol, especially when two other vets I have been two with my friends car during the last month allow you to enter the building. From a welcoming phone experience, to a happy greeting and check in experience, to enjoyable exchanges between fantastic and knowledgeable Techs and Doctors, to getting a thorough and detailed evaluation along with thoughtful questions and feedback, to getting walked through line by line on costs (no surprises at the register!), to a pleasant check out experience...and, they even walk around the counter to give hugs and say goodbye for now to my sweet girl. I've really embraced my new role as "mom" to my boyfriend's two dachshunds. Including taking it upon myself to find the very best vet for them in Austin. Well I'm pretty proud of myself for finding Dr. Vaughn and his practice Corner Vet. Oh yea and Dr. Vaughn is pretty awesome too! I knew I'd found the right place when alternative health supplements were suggested (probiotics and omega 3's) instead of any jarring medications. Dr. Vaughn and his vet tech took the time to thoroughly examine and even get to know the dogs individual personalities. It was amazing what they were able to pick up on after just a few minutes with our animals. If you ask for a return call from Dr. Vaughn to go over test results, he will call you back that same day. Awesome! He even suggested I "stop in" with the pups if I had any questions or just wanted to run something by him outside of the usual appointment times. Double awesome! The vets at this practice are a beautiful mix of traditional medicine and natural remedies, seriously what more could you want in a health provider? Really sad to leave this review about PAZ. When we first started going there, we were so impressed by the Doctor, staff and their quality of care. Fast forward a few years and there's been some turnover with the vet staff and things have to one downhill. Recently our cat got sick, wasn't eating, going to the bathroom, and he was vomiting. We called first thing Monday, very concerned about his condition. We were told they were busy and the earliest he could be seen was 5pm. As the day progressed his condition worsened. We called in concerned to see if there was any way he could be seen earlier. We wee told he could not. We drop him off at 5, and hear nothing from the doctor untIl we call at 6:30. He still hadn't been seen. 15 minutes later we receive a call that hIs urinary tract was blocked and he needed to be rushed to the ER vet. Somehow, despite knowing he would have to go to the ER vet, they decided to perform $450 worth of tests without our consent. These tests provided absolutely no value and had to be run again anyways by the ER vet. When I asked the doctor about why he needed the tests, and why he couldn't have been seen earlier, she got very agitated and blamed us for not distinguishing between urine and poop when we said he "hadn't gone to the bathroom". Apparently had they known he hadn't urinated he would've been seen earlier. Needless to say, after many years of loyalty to PAZ neither of our pets will be returning. They clearly are out to frivolously run up vet bills and prey on pet owners who have no recourse. read more

I had the terrifying but awesome opportunity to experience Corner Vet. Our cat, Nike, was very sick. Just walking in and being greeted by the fantastic staff, melted all of our fears away. Dr. Vaughan had my boyfriend and I join in their process to find out what was going on with our cat. We were taken to the ultrasound room and shown exactly what it was. It turned out that my cat had little crystals in his bladder. After working at an animal hospital myself, I knew something like this could cost me a couple thousand but it ended up being so much cheaper. We could feel the extent of Dr. Vaughan's deep care for our Nike from the first hello, to the follow up phone call a month later, and that's something you almost never experience at vet clinics. We have gloated about our favorite animal clinic ever since Dr. Vaughan saved Nike. read more
