Paylocity will mess up your pay. Simple as that. Not only will they not pay you on time they will shirt you large amounts.

My company was bought out and the new owners switched to Paylocity. I am able to access much but not all of my payroll information immediately thru by cellphone but, when using my up to date home computer, it is a nightmare. Each and every time, 100% of the time, I have to set a new password (as their website repeatedly signs me in and out in a flash), and, after receiving temporary passwords via their help line, which frequently do not work and then wait additional time as I am locked out due to having attempted to access my information too many times. Their help questions and answers are very limited, and do not help, and there is no way I can discern, to contact them by email or phone as their phone automated responses, just refer you back to their website, which also lacks useful information or a workaround. This is not in my opinion, a user friendly company. read more

We switched to Paylocity a couple months and its been nothing short of a NIGHTMARE! Here is a list of problems we encountered... 1. I sent Shelly (the lady setting up our account at Paylocity) all the information she requested, neatly organized and easy to read in an email. However, she entered in one of our employee's bank account number wrong so he did not get paid. Meanwhile, its a Friday and the funds that they took from our bank were in limbo somewhere between Paylocity and US Bank, and our employee is told he will not see those funds for another 4-7 days. This does not work for us or our employee and Paylocity refuses to front the money for this mishap so we had to issue our employee a manual check and wait the 4 days until Paylocity credits his payroll back to our account (for a small business this was a miracle that we could find the money to do this and it took hours on a Friday afternoon trying to find the funds so our employee wouldn't have to go the weekend w/o money). 2. Shelly entered our payroll frequency as semi-monthly instead of monthly, this made Paylocity miscalculate the amount of taxes to take from each employees' paychecks (all of us got shorted on our payroll). Of course Paylocity couldn't just give us the money back, it was supposed to take another 10 days before we saw this money but our employees needed the rest of their paychecks ASAP and AGAIN Paylocity was not willing to front the money for their mistake so we scrambled at the last minute to figure out how we can pay our employees the rest of their paychecks while Paylocity holds on to our cash! The 10 day period we were promised to see this money returned to us turned into 6 weeks (we STILL have not seen the $1300 Paylocity owes us!) 3. During all of this mix up, they had the nerve to bill us a second time for the processing of the additional payroll deposits (which was their mistake in the first place). When I called they promised us a refund right away, within 1-2 days. Of course I kept calling and told them we didn't see the refund and they kept assuring em it was coming. This turned into another 4 weeks before we actually saw the refund. 4. Shelly did not take out the Denver Occupational Privilege Tax from the employee's paycheck, so of course this was another thing to rectify during the chaos. They fixed this. 5. During the set up process, Shelly mixed up one of our employee's information with another one of our employee's. This is not a huge deal, I ddi actually catch it and change it in the system. 6. Shelly did not enter in the health insurance deductions from our employee's paycheck. Good thing I caught this before it was an issue. 7. Shelly had lots of typos in our company information page. Not a big deal, but her lack of attention to detail makes me wonder how she graduation high school. 8. We had given one of our employees an advance (manual check) before our first payroll was processed with Paylocity. Shelly entered this into the system wrong and actually sent him ANOTHER check from on our behalf! I shredded it! 9. Multiple times during our second payroll processing Ia asked her how much money was going to come out of our account and repeatedly she gave me the wrong amount and couldn't justify how she got to that number. 10. UPDATE: We just received a letter from the city for a delinquent filing for OPT taxes for a month that Paylocity processed our payroll. I sent it to Paylocity and 3 weeks later they reject responsibility. Their tax department does not understand Denver OPT taxes at all!! We recently moved to a new payroll processing company who has a Denver OPT tax specialist and agrees that Paylocity processed these taxes incorrectly and are liable. I plan on reporting Paylocity for this one! Don't waste your time with Paylocity, they have cost us more time, money, and resources than we have capacity for and we're not completely out of the woods yet. We have switched to a company named Paycom. They have been fantastic!! We love them so far! read more

Horrible, just horrible. Absolutely ZERO support for employees. NONE!!! Out of the 50 employees at my company, only a few even use the app. I refuse to use it for anything other than a pay stub. Their instructions are lame and lacking clarity so when you might need assistance, it is impossible to get any. My employer is no help because they cant figure it out many settings either. Most employees still just email their time and mileage and skip the waste of time trying to figure this app out. I have no idea why my employer even uses Paylocity. Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever encountered. Clearly there is a major lack of communication between departments at Paylocity. Took 7 weeks and 35-40 phone calls and numerous emails to finally get my companies w-2 forms. Average call wait time for customer service was easily close to an hour and a half. No one in customer service other than Christian was any help and even he didn't know what was happening sometimes. Was told by him last night it would take 3 weeks to receive our w-2's because Paylocity was so far behind on processing. Guess what showed up today? My employee's w-2s, which were clearly printed and mailed out before I was told it would take 3 weeks last night by Christian. Numerous messages and emails were never returned. I could go on and on about how terrible our experience with Paylocity was. read more

One of the other reviewers mentioned that this was one of their top poor business decisions. I couldn't agree more. The "promises" were lies. After six months of the most painful, time-consuming nightmare of payroll implementation and mishaps, my company payroll is still not set-up correctly. Very disappointed with this company, will definitely never use them in the future. I have a security concern with my account and no one will help me get it resolved because I'm not a current paying client. How messed up is that?! I am concerned of fraud and someone using my info, yet I'm being told that they will not help me. They will not confirm that my account is closed either, so now I just get to be worried my information being used fraudulently. It's such bad customer service. Our company switched to Paylocity in January 2020 from PayChex. They promised they could provide all the services and reports that PayChex provided for us. They proceeded to botch a lot of initial data entry including getting about half of our employee's ssn's wrong. Now they are not providing quarterly tax reports they said they could prepare. Their staff have been friendly and a few have tried hard to fix things for us. But our confidence in their ability to provide basic payroll services accurately and as promised is pretty shaken at this point. Also their online tools are pretty extensive but very sprawling, cumbersome, and often difficult and not user friendly to navigate. They seem like a young company that grew fast and can't handle the volume. I would steer clear until and if they can get things under control again. read more

A garbage company. First, I was harassed by their initial sales team calling me every month, sometimes multiple times that month, with the same lame sales pitch no matter what voice would come through. Eventually some payroll issues caused me to shop around and my superiors agreed to give these guys a try. Implementation was beyond sloppy, our contact seemed absolutely unqualified to do their job and the software is a bunch of meandering and overcomplicated nonsense. Software is horrible to use, byzantine and unnecessarily long process to pay people. No training provided and all modules don't integrate at all. We currently use a different payroll company that we are more than satisfied with. I've received more calls than I can count from Paylocity trying to sell their product. Every.Single.Time. I tell them we are not interested in switching. And they still call. So I've stopped answering. Then they decided that since I won't answer for "Paylocity", Joshua would start saying he's with the company under his boss' name, as if that would help him get through to me. I finally answered today because I was sick of his attempts and blatant ignoring of our requests to STOP calling. So far there is a lack of trust. Paylocity would not cut payroll until I provided a screenshot of my bank account to prove sufficient funds to pay my employees. Doesn't even deserve 1 star. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! After Paylocity filed incorrect payroll forms, despite our company having provided them with the correct information for the forms, we have been trying to get corrected 2019 payroll forms to be filed for 6 weeks now. Paylocity continues to send us "corrected" forms that are still incorrect. Our company and our accountant have even explained to them, in detail, exactly what should be on the corrected form and how it should be reported and they haven't even been capable of following simple instructions. We've spent more time trying to get correct forms, than if we had just done our payroll ourselves. read more

I don't do US payroll and we searched for a company to handle all but the simple data entry. Paycom wasn't flexible enough so after a detailed phone call with Paylocity's sales rep, we decided to go with them. We were assured they would handle everything. I took the basic training videos and the process for data entry, adding/changing employees and running reports is simple enough. However, we were misled. Not only do they expect me to handle changes and setup that I don't understand, their knowledge database and people are difficult to deal with. I have had to request specifically over and over to each person there to detail exactly what menus to click on to find what they say is there. More than once, I've had them toss back "you can do that yourself" rather than them handling it. Personally, I would never recommend this company to anyone. They don't handle payroll, they just want to take your money, sit back and get you to do all the work. read more

I'm not normally one to leave reviews, but my frustration with Paylocity has led me to want to do so. The reason I went as high as two stars is because, to their credit, I like the software itself. I find it pretty easy to use for the most part, and it was a huge step up from the software we had been using. We chose Paylocity over their competitors for the price, features and integration capabilities, and their ability to accommodate our complicated pay structure. Employees like the mobile app. However, it's not even worth it to have better software because the customer support is a joke. It takes weeks/months to get anything resolved. We've been with them for a year and still haven't completed implementation of every module because our contacts keep changing or failing to respond. None of our API feeds work very well, and take forever to set them up because paperwork is constantly lost and has to be re-submitted. There is no accountability for anything and oftentimes we get passed around from person to person for weeks or months before making any headway on an integration project, and oftentimes the other vendor we are trying to integrate with will throw their hands in the air and give up because of Paylocity's failure to respond to them. I have to update Company contacts multiple times before the change takes place and even then communications still get sent to the wrong people internally (not what you want when dealing with sensitive payroll info), or individuals who are supposed to be authorized contacts are turned away for help because of their failure to update authorized contacts. Our first year-end wth Paylocity, a W2 was processed wrong and I could not make sense of where they were pulling their information from because it did not match the employee record in Paylocity. They required that we pay them a weirdly large amount of money to fix it given how simple the correction was, and they sent it back to us more wrong than it was when we started. I really started questioning my sanity as I argued with them over whether or not it was correct for two weeks (because of the lags between responses) before I finally had a tax professional confirm that I was right. To top things off, the server always slows down horribly on payroll processing days. This company has potential if they get their act together. Being part of a growing Company myself, I understand that growth is hard and customer service is the first thing to suffer during intense growth phases. That said, transitioning payroll vendors was a huge, time-consuming, costly venture and I feel like we made a big mistake choosing Paylocity. They over-sold us on their ability to keep up with our population and needs. Maybe they do better for smaller organizations, but my Company of 500+ employees is very dissatisfied. My purpose in writing this review is that hopefully 1. Paylocity will get the message and make improving their customer service a priority and 2. to hopefully help others make an educated decision before going through all the time and effort to make the same mistake we did. read more

I switched to Paylocity after many years (17) with another company in order to get more current payroll features. I have to say, it was the WORST transition and issues continued for the next 10 + months. After not getting the services that I had requested prior to starting to just one issue after another we finally decided that the last payroll we had with them after yet another error on their side was enough and moved companies. They have some employees that are really helpful and they have others that seem like they really do not understand the system at all or what it can do. If all I did was payroll all day long than perhaps it might be a system to use but overall I felt it took way too long to process the payroll and it was not user friendly at all. We paid for HR services and were never able to use them as you needed to sign up for a 2 hour class and then based on all the issues with that i never had time to take their class so could not use their features. Lots of other added expenses that was not told about up front. For example we were told that employees could use their phones to log in, but in reality that didn't work so we had to buy an ipad to use their program. I started with a new company 5 weeks ago - seamless transition, easy to navigate and although there have been a couple of issues - it has been MINOR compared to what we had to put up with in Paylocity! read more

My company will be dropping Paylocity soon to go to ADP. The main issue I had with Paylocity is their Webtime system. It is not generating the automatic schedules right or at all. I have to manually key in hundreds of people. It also does not sync the PTO that has been taken to the WebPay side. These issues have been going on for almost a year now - though the PTO issue is much newer. Currently I cannot even receive a call back or email follow up. So I guess ignoring the situation is there answer now. Also as of today I cannot even get into Webtime at all and have been on hold for about 25 minutes now with customer service. The system on Webtime is poorly designed and the customer service is lacking cannot be stated strongly enough. I hope this helps someone else avoid this awful company. read more

Worst company ever! they oversold what they can do us. It might be good for small companies but not for medium or large size ones. We have issues with time off being deposited wrong, data integrity, reports are ok but limited on what they sold us on, they didn't implement some 3rd parties we work with and its been 6 months yet they are still working on it. Save your company the headache and go somewhere else. Lack of ownership with their mistakes doesn't make it any better, always blaming the client. Excuses after excuses and they really don't have answers, they always go back to "you can do this multiple ways, there isn't one right way" yet if you do it multiple ways you get different results. As an admin I like the reporting and analytic charts and graphs, which are very useful and easy to create. As an employee I do everything on my iPhone and it's super simple to make requests like PTO or handle my expenses. Love it! read more

Now that I read other reviews and see their rating I realize I should have done more homework prior to signing up with Paylocity. I didn't look at reviews before because they were referred to me by a friend. In 25 years of being in business I can say that i never have encountered such sloppy, poor, unprofessional service and support. I am still trying to process how one person could possibly operate like he did. I signed up in March with Texas sales rep Brad Robinson. He was very prompt and quick when it came to sign our company up. He was to contact me later in April to give me a demo and teach me how to hand in our monthly payroll. Never heard from him. I contacted him 10 days prior to end of month to find out how to process our April payroll. I will spare you details, but had to run after him day after day. He scheduled a call which he canceled. To cut the very long story short, I had to make contact with the company to be able to get hold of someone to help me. Director of Texas sales got involved. I find out 2 days before my payroll is due that my account had never been processed or implemented, and i am told sorry but we wont be able to process your payroll in time for your staff to be paid. Today I emailed the director of sales so we could get on a call and never got a reply either. I very seldom wrote reviews as I find that, being in business myself, things do happen and can fall through the cracks. However this is unacceptable. My rep knew very well I had payroll obligations. He never did what he promised - "I will call you back shortly", "I am talking to someone at such time and will call you after", etc...,etc... He totally admitted he dropped the ball and joked about owing me a steak dinner?? I hope this review will be helpful to anyone out there who is looking to use Paylocity's services. read more

The benefit I see from this service is that it takes me back to the late 90s, when online interfaces were archaic and hard to use. While I sometimes miss boot legged jeans, I do not miss those days. Given we are firmly standing in 2015, logging into an account and accessing automated assistance for password retrieval, etc., should be standard. It unfortunately is not for Paylocity. I could relay every detail, but suffice to say it's been a frustrating few days, and their service is wanting at best. Given Paylocity is housing sensitive, private information, and given that, in 2015, online privacy and security are a significant concern, Paylocity's apparent lack of investment in current digital infrastructure is concerning. read more

I am so sick of getting sales calls from Paylocity. About every 4 months since 2014, I get a call and/or email from someone looking for an "introduction." I have politely said over and over and over we are not interested in changing services in the foreseeable future and to please take me off the contact listing. They just keep calling.
