I stopped by the bar at 5:00 PM and ordered a Cosmopolitan. It was $13, made properly, and tasted…read moregreat--thanks to Cheryl. I left shortly after to attend a sports game and returned around 9:00 PM. Upon returning, I ordered a shot of vodka, then asked Cheryl for another Cosmopolitan. Her response was, "Well, you just had a shot of Tito's." I replied, "Okay, well I would like a Cosmo." I then watched her pour a splash of Tito's into the shaker. After receiving the drink, I paid via Apple Pay and asked for the receipt so I could leave a tip. Cheryl informed me that she had already tipped herself 20%, which I found inappropriate and unacceptable--tipping should be at the guest's discretion. I returned to my table and took a sip of the drink, only to realize it tasted like juice. I had several friends with me, many of whom are experienced bartenders or servers, including myself, and they confirmed it was not a proper Cosmopolitan. Upset that Cheryl had added a tip without my consent and served a drink that clearly lacked alcohol, I approached her to express my dissatisfaction. Rather than addressing the issue professionally, she gave me attitude and stated I shouldn't have been drinking before my sports event. She did offer a replacement drink at no charge, but again, it was just juice. Meanwhile, Cheryl and Alex were seen discussing the situation behind the bar, which only made the experience more uncomfortable. I want to make it clear that I will return to Sammy D's, but I will not be ordering drinks from Cheryl or Alex again. Additionally, I do not believe bartenders should be drinking on the job, and if Cheryl had been sober, this experience might have gone differently.

This place is dope, and I highly recommend more people to check it out. Though that was my first time, it certainly won't be my last.

On two separate occasions now I have found expired seltzers in their refrigerated section. The first time I didn't realize (because I assume things are not expired if they are being sold) only to open the box to crushed cans (a clear sign of being bad). The box had expired in 2023! The second time I brought it to the attention of the staff who unfortunately did not believe me. I can't keep risking spending money on alcohol that isn't drinkable so I will have to go to one of the many other liquor stores in the area next time.

It was mos def a "trip down memory lane" for him as we walked into The Hub as many of his memorable nights of getting completely hammered in NB usually started with a visit to The Hub. I would like to go ahead and say this right off the bat...I have never seen a more eclectic selection of "liquor blends" and "bum wines" - both of which we indulged in buying. The selection of "liquor blends" (in the padlocked fridge closest to the bar) was what I found to be the most fascinating. It was in this fridge that I was able to find Tarantula's Azul Magaraita "Premium Liquor Blend" in Fresa (strawberry), Melon, Baya (berry) and Mango. This made me reminiscent of my undergrad days....oh..what fun I had drinking the "Premium Liquor Blends." Aside from the Tarantula there was also a liquor blend that was advertised (on the bottle) as "LIQUOR YOU CAN EAT!" I couldn't help but umm...stare at the bottle (in confusion) for a bit. So, the BF got his bum wines and sparks and I got my Tarantula and Sauza Blanco(seriously, you thought that I was going to drink the "liquor blend" sans extra liquor? pssssshhhh...) and the total came out to $26 (my Sauza cost $11). That's pretty damn good considering it was a 40 oz of Night Train, three other smaller bottles of bum wine, three sparks, a Tarantula and a (something bigger than a 1/5 but not a bottle) of Sauza. We were pretty dandy for the weekend. Oh yah, um, Cash ONLY and they stick your ID into this ID thing..so youngins' beware.
