Young, healthy, sweet adoptable animals that are never given a chance and unethically, randomly and sometimes "mistakenly" killed even though there are empty kennels available. Although management appears to operate within the parameters of Louisiana law the Management practices at this shelter are completely counterintuitive to getting pets adopted, working with animal rescue and Foster groups. Management even appears to despise working with rescue and Foster group Representatives.

My fur baby was a 11 year old husky who was in good health. We hiked / ran almost everyday. One day she was a little lethargic during our hike so I brought her in. The female vet was nice. Seemed to care. She said my doggo had issues with her liver breaking things down and said she should start taking the supplement regularly. She seems good for a month and than the same thing happened. She became oddly lethargic during a hike. Didn't realize it would be the last time I'd see her. :/. She went into cardiac arrest while getting checked out and died the next day after another episode. I had this sweet baby by my side for 8 years, never being apart longer than a week and only twice. As I occasionally get emails from this place, I did and it reminded me of when I went to pick up her dead, lifeless body & the people at the front desk stared at me as my eyes were watering and voice shaky. I felt judged and uncomfortable with the whole situation. The didn't say anything to me... I even saw one lady look at and other lady with a puzzled look on her face. Ma'am my dog died... a member of my family and felt weird leaving with my dead dog in a body bag. Learn empathy and how to briefly console someone who just lost a loved one rather than be silent and pass judgement could do you good in your line of business. The vet seemed genuinely nice but, the memory of picking up my fur baby dead and ladies in the front office area... cold, judgy and careless has stayed in my mind still a few years later.

My family (My mom, wife, daughter(17) and son (13) and I were traveling from Oklahoma City to Dauphin Island for vacation. We stopped midway in Shreveport. After researching things to do, my wife happened on to Steve's Snaketuary. We called not really knowing what to expect. My daughter and I are the only snake lovers. My mom is terrified, my wife has a strong dislike, and our son doesn't mind them as long as they are not close(at all). We met Steve at the Snaketuary, Steve was awesome! We had a great, great time. EVEN my wife and my mom loved it! My wife actually held a snake and my mom to my surprise (remember she is terrified, literally freaked out terrified) she even held a snake!!!!!!
