Dr. Chon is the best dentist I've ever encountered. He thoroughly explains what he is doing and why it is necessary, and he goes to great lengths to ensure his patients are comfortable. He is also very personable and pleasant to be around. He makes me feel like a valued patient. One of the worst decisions of my life coming here. This dentist was recommended by my sister and her friend. I'm not the type of person that gives good or bad reviews just because somebody I know knows them. My teeth was perfectly fine with some fillings here and there. The only discomfort that I had was food started to get stuck on one of my tooth, so Dr. Chon recommend that I get a crown. So I got the crown and paid $500 copay and he told me that the rest will be covered by my insurance. A few months later this crown ended up giving me a full blown infection with abscess and pain. I ended up going with another dentist where they treated my infection and it was already too late to save my tooth, so I ended up getting a root canal and another crown. After talking with my current dentist, I'm not sure why Dr. Chon decided to go with a crown when he could have just done another filling to see if that fixes the issue. What really pisses me off is that Dr. Chon is trying to scam my insurance company saying the reason why they gave me a crown was due to a tooth decay/injury. This is obviously not true and I will definitely let my insurance know what had happen to me. So overall my experience here has been very unpleasant. I wasted $500 and my tooth will never be the same again. Do some research before you get any work done. That's one thing I learned from this. read more

Even with all the Covid precautions in place, my check up went smooth as usual! They sanitize and/or replace all their equipment after use and each area is sectioned off with plastic barriers. Came in to get a small but major filling fixed. Major because it's one of my two front teeth. My dentist when I was younger tried evening out my front teeth by adding too much filling, I also chipped it so he had to fill a gap. It got discolored over time and it was detaching from my gums. You could see it was a (slight) different color in pictures, but I would always notice it. Gross. Came in and it's fixed in less than 30 minutes. He did such a good job it looks like I never even had work done on it. Wish I would've done it sooner. read more

I like Dr. Chon. He's a good guy and he genuinely cares about his patients. I've been going to Dr. Chon for a few years now. On my first visit he took high resolution photos of my teeth and discussed them with me. He does not hard sell solutions or pressure you, rather he makes you aware of your options so you can choose what's best for you. Dr. Chon performed a root canal on one of my central incisors. He discussed the procedure with me, numbed me up good and performed the procedure as he described. He saved my front tooth and I have no more pain. I have been a patient of Dr. Chon for over 5 years now. He completed my wisdom teeth surgery and I recovered quickly within a few days. He explained to me the entire process and even personally checked up on me afterwards to see how I was recovering. My favorite part of the team is how professional and personable everyone is. They are always great with communication and message me the week and the day of to remind me that I have an appointment. Their office and equipment is always clean and up to date. It's no wonder why Dr. Paul, his wife and his team have a 5 star rating. They are amazing at what they do and do everything in there power to ensure that you are comfortable. One of the things that really stood out, albeit minor, was that the tech would apply Vaseline on my lips in order for them not to get dry during the procedure. Dr. Paul Chon has been my dentist for the past year and I honestly could not be any happier! I have been afraid of dentists my whole life (I mean.. That's normal right?) and have always been very hesitant to visit the dentist for any reason. I hadn't seen a dentist in over 7 years, and being a candy addict and sugar lover, I had developed a large amount of cavities over time. Long story short, Dr. Chon made the whole procedure COMPLETELY PAINLESS and I didn't even feel the weird sensitivity on my teeth during the deep cleaning! He made me feel very comfortable and even gave me headphones to listen to music from my phone as he was working on my cavities. I have been routinely scheduling a deep cleaning every 4 months and last week, I had a wisdom tooth pulled. Needless to say, that procedure was also painless and I was out of there in less than an hour. I would highly recommend this dentist, especially for those who are fearful of dentists, because there is honestly nothing to be scared of with Dr. Chon! Even his staff is extremely friendly and they ALWAYS call me to confirm my appointment and even to remind me to make another one. Prior to getting in contact with Dr. Chon. I was needed a root canal bad on my left 1st Bicuspid. I saw a team of two grown dentists in their mid - late 40's who pretty much wasted my time. They made me lay down for 30 minutes, checked my tooth for a good 3 minutes and said "oh yeah we can do this no problem" they leave the room - 20 or so minutes later they come back and said "We won't be able to do it, so we're going to send you to a specialist ". I pretty much just smiled and got the eff outta there. 2 days later I got in touch with Dr. Chon after a grueling search for a good dentist online. What really caught my attention was his picture. That cute picture of him climbing up a coconut tree. Yes! that picture! I thought this guy looked super cool! I called him pretty early, it was a Friday morning at 8 AM. This sleepy sounding voice answered the phone and pretty much convinced me that he can do the job and that those two dentists that I saw sucked big time. Oh yeah, Dr. Chon's office was closed that day when I called. He was at home sleeping, I pretty much woke him up but he still answered his cell and scheduled me for Monday. Now, how freakin' cool is that? Dr. Chon worked his magic and got all the work that I needed done. Been a dedicated patient ever since. I've recommended friends and strangers here and I'm going to keep on doing that. Dr. Chon and his staff are extremely friendly and very caring. A honest dentist finally!!!! When did dentists become used car salesmen??? I had a discolored tooth and I went to three different dentists and they all recommended at least over $1000 worth of cosmetic dental procedures from veneer, to root canal and of course they said you needed a porcelain crown and etc... Seemed ridiculously costly for one tooth. Long story short went to Dr. Chon - who just bleached it from the inside out and was straight up and said you don't need to do any of that and it's been fine now for over several years. I never thought in a million years I would be writing a 5-star review for any dentist, but alas here I am. I had such a (literally) painful experience at my old dentist (out of state) that I would have extreme anxiety at the thought of even going to the dentist. Dr Chon absolutely blew me away right out of the gate with how patient and caring he was. Both him and his wife were aware of my situation and did everything they could to make sure I was comfortable. For someone (like myself) who is terrified of the dentist, I was told the worst news in the world.... That I needed a root canal. I was literally brought to tears, but Dr. Chon assured me it would be okay and that I wouldn't experience any pain. Seeing in the past I got fairly extreme pain during fillings, I was in disbelief. Dr Chon is by far THE BEST dentist I've ever been to. My tooth was infected and when I went In for a consultation, he made me feel at ease. He was really honest with me and was very thorough in explaining what was happening to my tooth. He gave me a few options and I opted for an implant. He did not pressure me either way and I even got a second opinion from another dentist but I decided to go with Dr Chon because I knew he would take really good care of me. I just had a good feeling with him. Last week, I got my tooth extracted and the bone graph done and I had the best experience ever! I know...how can anyone say going to a dentist was actually enjoyable, right? Well, it was! I did not feel any pain during or after the procedure...even after the numbness went away. Dr Chon even called me personally that night to make sure I was not in pain. How awesome was that?! A week later, I am healing really well and I am so glad I chose him! After just my 3rd visit, I am much happier with the health of my teeth and gums than I've ever been in the previous 3-6 years! I cannot thank Dr. Paul Chon and his staff for not only their knowledge but experience in dealing with various oral health issues. With my previous dentist (listed under South Coast Family Dental or Amitiss Nasiri DDS at 2781 W McArthur Ave), I was dealing with an office that kept wanting to push me to pay for expensive treatments (at one point, they had almost convinced me to pay for dental implants and major surgery instead of trying to save my teeth and gums, and I had to demand for a second opinion before they abandoned the idea), never tried to figure out why I was having certain problems (with excessive bleeding, weakening of the inner mouth tissues, and excessive dry mouth), and merely allowed my mouth to remain in a poor state so they could charging for more expensive treatments. I always left that office feeling that I would never see any improvements again within my lifetime. But with Dr. Chon's office, they took into account my full medical history and found out that other medications (and even some of the toothpaste and mouthwash I was using) were causing completely avoidable or manageable issues. They educated me on various things I can try to alleviate those problems on my own. And after just a couple of mouths using the strongest prescription oral rinse and performing steady oral care at home, I have already moved to using normal toothpaste and mouthwash again. And most of my long-standing oral issues have already largely disappeared. I truly felt optimistic about my oral health for the first time in a long time after just 2 cleanings here, and after the third, I am actually confident that I can return to an almost perfectly normal and healthy state of oral health really soon. Many thanks to this office for their willingness to truly investigate the root causes of each patient's problems and for demonstrating all sorts of expertise that I have never found at another dentist before. read more

Dentistry is not always pleasant for the patient but everything Dr. Paul Chon's website says they can do, I experienced to be true. Whether helping with anxiety in the chair, using state of the art technology/practices, or genuinely caring about their patient... it describes their practice. They used tools I have never seen at any other dentist I have been to; the staff couldn't possibly be cooler/more friendly; made a computer representation of my mouth and developed a game plan WITH me; offered me headphones so that I wouldn't hear the drilling; were very gentle and quick with the procedure; called me the night following my procedure to check on me; give me plenty of reminders when I have an upcoming appointment; come in early for me to work around my work schedule; explained new dental hygiene practices to me... I could keep going but I have probably exhausted the reader by now. The difference between my experience here and at other offices makes the other dentists look like they are from the dark ages.
