I have been getting my hair cut and highlighted here regularly for a few years now and have always had a very good experience. Everything in life costs time or money and here- you pay in time. The students are new and slower than a traditional salon, but I wouldn't expect anything different. They're nervous and these are new skills for them. Every single student I have had was kind, caring, and striving to please. They regularly check in with an instructor if they are unsure of a next step and the instructors have always been polite, knowledgeable, and promptly available. Often the instructor will "fine tune" my cut at the end to fix anything they see and my cut always looks like I went to a high end salon. The prices are fair, the salon is clean and well kept. I will return time and time again. My only wish is for an online apt booking option! (Pics are all after pics over the years....)

Update:) After (4) months of my membership at Paul Mitchell School I am pleased to say that though my first stylist graduated and moved on, all was not lost! I now feel honored to see Kohl weekly for my style/blow dry and what an amazing job she does. Kohl is always prepared upon my arrival, is warm and professional, and REALLY good at my desired look! I am very pleased and would recommend the School and Kohl in particular!

I had heard of beauty schools before and that they offer discounted services, and finally decided to try it to save some money. I called early in the week to make appointments for myself and my daughter. The girl on the phone was super helpful and accommodating and answered all my first-timer questions. Our appointment times were 4:45 - on a Friday. We were greeted, sat, and then our respective stylists come to get us. I wanted to see if I could get my husband a buzzcut while we were there, but the front girl said they were busy and had no openings. When I sat down in my chair, my stylist asked if my husband was getting a cut too (we met there, he dropped of my daughter) and I said no, that the front desk said there were no openings. She asked what he needed done, I said just a quick buzzcut and she said if she had time, she would do it, or she would find someone to do it. (She didn't have to do this, but we really appreciated her willingness to help.) Because these are students, the haircuts take longer than if you went to a "normal" salon. However, they are thorough. And, they check with their teachers to make sure they are doing this right, and how should they do that, etc. - which I appreciated. (Just saying allow for extra time.) I really liked my stylist, chatty and thorough and did exactly what I wanted. My daughter loved her stylist. And, my daughter has long, thick hair and her stylist took about 2.5 hours to wash, cut, dry and style her hair (a lot of curling). And she did a great job. The kicker? $8 - each. For a wash, cut, dry, and style. EIGHT BUCKS! * * NOTE: They do not have the ability to add tips when you pay ... so you need to bring a few bucks with you (they also have an ATM machine there). I also had a lip wax done - $7. Oh, and when my stylist was done with my hair, she went to ask the front desk if she could do my husband's hair, and she was able to (another $8). $31 for (3) wash, cut, dry, styles and a wax is pretty dang good if you ask me. And we were all happy with the services and the personableness of our stylists. And, they weren't done with us until it was time for them to clean up and close. But, we never felt rushed or anything like that. We will definitely be back!

I wanted to give a shout out to Hunter. My granddaughter's very first professional hair dye. Hunter was great at engaging Jamie, asking the right questions and listening to her vision for her hair. She was patient and fun. We'll be back!

Had a facial, bare minimum, no client intake form, no skin analysis under a mag lamp, no extraction, too quick with hot towels, didn't touch nose, girl friends steamer didn't work, no blanket-cold, no arm massage. Spa pedicure is a joke. Uncomfortable chairs, kitchen sink for feet, no cuticle trimming, no leg massage, dry nail polish, friends was runny. No nail dryers. Polish job looks bad. I feel sorry for trainers, working with sub pare equipment. It is very obvious that the business does not put in any money into upgrades or products for them to use. At lastly, it's dirty, they need to clean, dust, sweep and mop!

Good customer service. Students are polite and respectful. Takes a long time...expect to be there at least an 1 1/2 for a haircut and style.

I moved to Anchorage from California last year and I had been very apprehensive about getting my eyebrows done up here, so much so that I actually didn't get my eyebrows done until this visit to Brow Luau. I have to be threaded not waxed because I have very sensitive skin so Brow Luau was my only option since threading doesn't seem super popular in Alaska yet. It's $25 for eyebrow threading and it's by appointment only. That's about double what I normally pay for a walk-in place at home, but it is a full spa so I can see why they need an appointment. Again, didn't help my nerves thinking about how expensive it is and what not. HOWEVER, this was the most pleasant threading experience I have ever had and with the best results. Diana is the one who threaded my eyebrows. She was nice, calm, quiet, and she took her time. I felt that she was thorough (she even measured my brows for where they should start, end, and arch based on my eye/face shape!!) and very detail oriented. I wish I had come here sooner!! It was absolutely worth the $25 plus tip and I literally have the nicest brow shape I've ever had. Thank you, Diana!

College doesn't prepare you for employment very well. I'd spend hours tailoring my resume to job postings and sending them out into the void just to get one automated rejection response after another. It became clear that I needed additional training and experience to get where I was hoping to end up. It was either a $20-70K masters' degree and another two years of being poor, or pursue various certifications that may or may not help. After considering different options, I decided to give BoiseCodeWorks a shot. They were extremely reasonably priced and have a surprisingly robust reputation in the valley. They are well respected by the companies in Boise and they, unlike BSU, go the extra mile in helping you get a job with a full week of career preparation from working industry professionals, a rep from the Idaho Dept. of Labor and others who specialize in getting people employed in the field. They provide the opportunity to do some powerful networking with heavy hitters in the valley in just a few days. The quality of the education I got from BoiseCodeWorks was phenomenal. The course is fast paced and definitely requires dedication, but the teachers are very knowledgeable and have a teaching style that makes it fun. Management gives you a voice and listens to your feedback. They also provide plenty of after-hours tutoring at no additional cost if you need help and can adjust or give additional projects to make sure you're challenged even if you're more advanced than the rest of the class. The course provides lots of hands-on training to solidify the new material. The resulting projects give you lots to talk about in interviews afterward. Lastly, they do fun activities to help you have a good time and make some lasting friends and connections. If you're looking to get into software development, especially in the Boise area, BoiseCodeWorks is the way to do it.
