I usually stop at Paul in airport or metro waits but I'm sooooo happy Orly is about that Eric Kayser life because they are just SO good. The pain au chocolat is buttery, soft, warm, fresh, delicious and everything you need and more. Not too sweet and perfect avec un petit café. Writing this just makes me want more! Our cashier on that particular morning was cranky and did not look happy to be there. Her colleague was in better spirits and more welcoming. It was also 540 AM and she was serving croissants instead of eating them, so I'd be salty too.

For anyone who's traveled in France or has an inappropriately loving relationship with baked goods, me enthusiastically raising my hand, these guys are real familiar. Clean, well stocked stores with dependably great breads, tarts and cakes. This location was no different. I happily gorged myself when I got home but did hold back enough that there were plenty of snacking options for the extended fam. Woke up the next morning looking forward to a little slice of Paul happiness "But...uhh. Where're the tarts?" Turns out the @*%$# dog ate them. The baked goods are fantastic, the prices are fair and the service is friendly. And if you manage to show up at the right time in the afternoon you'll walk out with fresh baked, piping hot, just-out-o'-the-oven baguettes. There's also an interesting feature at the curb in front of this place. First, the curb is marble and it looks awesome. Second, it's not just one big step, it's two. So to walk from the street to the sidewalk you take two easy, comfortable steps just like you might take to get to your front porch. It's quirky and I've never seen it anywhere else. Kind o' cool.

They are open every day but Thursday year-round and that work ethic alone gets our loyal business.
