I wish I had the option of selecting zero stars or negative stars. My fiancé and I just got our first home and we are excited about furnishing the outdoor space with stylish and comfortable long lasting pieces. We had gone to a couple of outdoor stores as we continued to search for pieces that "caught our eye." Patio world was our third stop. We were greeted by an older Caucasian gentleman. We were honest about not knowing much about outdoor spaces/ furniture and asked for his expert opinion. He told us that he felt we were "playing a game" and kept asking us price gauging questions. He then directed us other local patio furniture stores. As my fiancé and I walked out the door, we were shocked! Did we just experience so called "ageist?" Did we look we couldn't afford nice furniture? Was it his vans? Or was it my bohemian flared pants? We felt insulted. I purchased $500 umbrella from Patioworld a couple years ago. A month before the warranty expired, the tilting mechanism failed. I checked with the store and they said it was under warranty and to file a claim. I filed a claim and it took 3 months of back and forth with Nicole of the Patioworld warranty department to get her to submit a claim to the manufacturer, which promptly rejecting because it is out of warranty. WOW! After reading some of the reviews related to patio world Pleasanton I realized it wasn't anything personal they are just plain bad. I too have visited the showroom a few times to purchase furniture and for some strange reason the salesperson would not sell me any furniture. It's so bizarre I would get one excuse or another for why a particular piece is not available. My initial visit was fully staffed with salespeople that were in no hurry to assist which was ok because sometimes I look to browse before I request assistance. To be fair the salesperson is always nice and professional but will not sell furniture for one reason or another. Go figure. read more

Against my better judgement, we bought an entire patio set in 2011. A huge table, 8 chairs, 2 lounges and a large tommy bahama free standing umbrella. The salesman said the chairs had a lifetime warranty (a huge reason why we purchased) Just over a year later the umbrella breaks. I knew the warrant was expired but I was hoping they could help me repair it. On the first call they said they could definitely help! Took my info down and said they'd call me back. 2 weeks go by and nothing. Call again. Nothing. Basically after about 6 months I give up. They never called back and I could never find where to get it fixed. Recently the fabric on the lounges ripped and I wasn't worried bc they had a warranty. Call them up and nope. No such thing as a lifetime warranty. I'm livid! I made an extremely expensive purchase and to find out I was lied to is infuriating! I didn't want to spend that kind of money but between my ex trying to convince me and the promise of lifetime warranty I relented. HIGH END buyers BEWARE!!! We purchased these beautiful outdoor beds roughly 2 years ago for THOUSANDS of dollars. After about 6 months we noticed the canopies were starting to fall apart. They began to look torn and tattered. Clearly not holding up in the California sun. I made my first phone call in March of last year. I was told, "That should Never happen! And they would be happy to replace the canopies." I didn't hear from them for a few months so I called in July. I was told the same thing. They would replace them. No problem! Again... I waited. I made 3 more attempts to have them make this situation right. I was just told 2 weeks ago that I am now out of the warranty window. Sure.. ONLY because you have put this off for a year! I am currently waiting.. again... to have the manager call me back tomorrow. I will keep you all posted. Moral of the story. If you are going to drop $30,000 on patio furniture.. you would be a fool to spend your money here. Update: The manager called backed today. He rudely suggested we could purchase new canopies for $599 A PIECE. *Ignoring your customers until the warranty "conveniently" runs out is UNACCEPTABLE and illegal. We are in the process of contacting the regional manager. Next step will be our attorney. read more

Placed order for over $11K in replacement furniture pads with Kenny Freeberg at the Pleasanton Patioworld, March 2020. Received the complete order in August 2020. Two pieces were incorrect and do not fit the frames for which they were ordered. We contacted Kenny that day to let him know and he said he would get the correct ones ordered. With a series of reasons, excuses we still do not have the replacement pads and it has been 2 years since the initial order. We have made many attempts to connect only for him to say he is following up or there is a delay due to COVID. Guessing that they never reordered the replacement pieces and hope we will just go away. It is too much money and needs to be corrected. I have asked for copies of the reorder forms, and he will not provide them. We have given him and Patioworld so many chances to make it right only to get excuses. We want our money back from these pieces which is Approx.. $1500K. We never asked for a discount from the beginning and paid full price to not receive what we ordered. He made the mistake and after 2+ years we still have two chairs we can't use as we don't have pads that fit. We came here because our outdoor space is finally done and we are looking to fill it with some comfy seating area and tables. As we entered the space we were surprised to see how big their showroom is and that they had many high ends furniture. Also what we noticed when we entered was the lack of friendly salesppl. They were busy with other customers but when we had eye contact with one of them. He literally gave us a dirty look as we dared to come here with our children and he just walked away. Okay Mr. Salesman! You probably make like 15-18$ the hour and ppl. come here who can actually AFFORD buying those expensive things! I have to agree with the previous review regarding the bad customer service. The difference in my experience is that we did fine with the employee in the showroom. The botched delivery and subsequent frustrated follow-up phone calls I've had to make are what soured me to this place. When am I going to get all of the stuff I ordered??? Walked into this store to look for furniture for my newly completed yard. I saw a few things I liked but decided not to pursue them because I was not acknowledged the whole entire time I was walking through their store (and I was the ONLY customer there the whole time). Yes, all 3 sales associates (2 at the front counter and a lady in the back sale room) were too busy surfing on their smart phones to even look up to see if I needed help. Anyway, I later found similar items at a higher end store in Walnut Creek and made a purchase there. Why? Good selection of outdoor furniture, big showroom BUT the customer service provided by the sales staff on the floor is HORRIBLE. I have visited this store multiple times over the course of the last year or two and received the same bad service each time. During my last visit a week ago, my wife and I received extremely poor, rude service from incredibly unprofessional sales people, we believe because we were only looking for replacement cushions vs. new patio furniture. Also during that same visit, we witnessed two sales people openly and loudly arguing on the showroom floor, in front of customers. The argument was over who's turn it was to service/help the people that just walked into the showroom, completely unprofessional. We specifically went to Patioworld to support a local business, especially during these tough COVID times. After the unprofessional and poor service we experienced, I have no issues or regrets giving my business to an online retailer. I needed to express my regrets with my recent visit to patio world in Pleasanton. My husband and I visited the showroom to be greeted by Tim the sales consultant upon arrival. We needed to order replacement cushions for our existing Tropitone chairs. He abruptly directed us to the swatches and moved onto another customer. His demeanor was really put out as in he realized this particular sale was not going to be large ($1,700). We later found an additional item we were interested in a we asked for the price and dimensions because it wasn't marked and once again he couldn't be bothered. He reluctantly gave us the dimensions but didn't know the price and blew us off again. Thirdly we identified the fabric for the replacement cushions and returned to the counter and he blustered "I'm working on a large custom order", the other sales consultant said she could give us some information but since he saw us first she couldn't do more than that. In addition, the two sales consultants were fighting over customers (loudly). This was an incredibly unprofessional environment. My husband and I have been in professional sales for over 30+ years. Regardless of your compensation plan the customer ALWAYS comes first. Their behavior was the epitome of "the used car sales mentality." Customer service at this location is severely lacking and I will never return to this location again. Thank you for helping me make the decision to buy these items online. Bad customer service fascinates me. Granted, I'm not in retail, but it doesn't seem to me like it should be that hard. Understand what the customer wants, seek to meet the customer's needs, and be friendly. My wife and I tried to explain what we wanted to the saleswoman who approached us at Patio World. Specifically, we told her that we wanted a 48" or 54" round glass table and four sling-back chairs. Armed with this fairly well-defined set of criteria, our customer service hero proceeded to show us rectangular tables with cast aluminum tops and solid- and strap-backed chairs. In all honestly, it was almost comical in the same way that the Busy Bee scene from "Best in Show" is funny. The worst of it was when she showed us a cast iron set. I explained that we weren't interested in cast iron because of rust. Undeterred, we were told that "the nature of cast iron is to rust" as though the natural processes which create ferrous oxide somehow should convince us to change our minds. In fairness, there appears only to be one turbo charged moron on the staff; the rest of the team was pretty helpful. Still, a bad experience is a bad experience, and management should take action to make things better. read more

I was pleasantly surprised with Patioworld! I swung by there on a whim to check prices for a hotel-style chaise lounge and found a gal who went out of her way to show me all the styles and then we special ordered a really fabulous retro-style chaise lounge. They also gave me a great price which was comparable to the patio furniture at Target but a much nicer quality. When the item came in it did not fit in my car as exected and another employee volunteered to deliver the item to my home the following day. The furniture has a 15 year warranty, and if you can imagine was on the expensive side. When the chair broke, i contact Patio World who in turn said they have no record of my purchase because they had changed computer systems. Regardless, i had a chair with a 15 year warranty. I brought the chair to them in April. It is now June! Today I contacted the manufacturer directly to see if anything had been done. Of course nothing had! My calls now to Patio World now go unreturned. They will sell you anything, but when it comes to upholding their word...what a joke! read more

Worse, we live in Fremont but they wouldn't let us pick up there, or deliver to our house without an extra charge! Today, called them and tried to order an accessory to go with our new furniture - they wouldn't let us order over the phone, wanted us to drive to Dublin, order one piece, then have to repeat in 2 weeks when it's in. Don't bother with a custom order, the delay isn't worth it. I ordered a small conversation table in Aug 2015 and it's June 2106 now. Yes, that's 8 months wait so far. I call in every 1-2 weeks and am told that they will call me back, but I don't hear from them. Since it's a custom order I can't cancel it. After-the-sale support is appalling! I ordered new slings for my Mallin glider and chair. Patio World ordered the correct sling but Mallin shipped the wrong ones. I worked with the Patio World sales people and the manager for six monthsor more, including three visits to their store, trying to correct the problem. The manager finally told me that there was nothing she could do and I would have to eat the nearly $200 I paid for the slings! I then called Mallin directly and they had a local rep call me the next day. Mallin apologized for the error and is shipping the correct slings. I only wish I would have contacted Mallin in the first place. Customer support is non-existent at Patio World and I will not buy from them again. read more

Patioworld is not cheap, but you wouldn't be in there if you wanted the lowest price in town. It's a gorgeous showroom, with knowledgeable staff who will help you with any info you need. They can order things they don't have in stock. We recently bought a slate coffee table/propane fire pit unit and are delighted with it. Okay, so I bot some rocks for my new fire pit (also bot from them). Staff did NOT tell me that this was a Special Order (how would I know?), and of course did NOT inform me that there is a No Return Policy on Special Orders. What kind of store is this anyway? To make matters worse, when trying to return the rocks, they told me that if it WASN'T a Special Order, I would have had only 24 hours to return the item. He knew the inventory, had suggestions about styles and materials to use, called the Brown Jordan sales rep to confirm availability, and generally went out of his way to assist me. He wrote up a price list and encouraged me to take my time ordering, as it was a big investment.
