Surprised that I'm writing the first review of Patile in English -- it's a good destination for non-Turkish speakers because the menu helpfully has pictures.
The dinner menu is something of a hybrid between the standard Turkish köfte and kebap and what you'd see at a moderately-upscale European restaurant, so there are more vegetarian options than at a typical place in Ankara. I enjoy what I think is called the Patile Köfte with a yogurt-based sauce, grilled vegetables, and (my culinary vocabulary is really failing me here) the thing where little chunks of bread are grilled with the meat so they soak up the sauce.
In addition to the glorious full Turkish breakfast on weekends with the whole complement of breads and cheeses, they have a lunch buffet of meze on weekdays and they always have pre-packaged mezes for takeaway, as well. I highly recommend the stuffed cabbage (lahana) and the lentil (mercimek) patty things, I'm not sure what they're called.
I haven't sampled much of the amazing array of desserts and pastries that they have up front but I do like the little apple strudel things that they sometimes throw in for free when I get takeout. read more
