I truly…read moreappreciate how Awaken is built to bring you into understanding that you are loved, valued, cherished... they have a whole event called "Cherish" for women!! It's incredible and such a wonderful experience to truly understand how God loves us individually since they know there's a Spirit of the Living God that can speak through people. I just want to say that I have heard the Pastors speak countless times and I don't feel like it's all about money. They are simply concerned that people may not see the value of putting a little money in the hands of God. They use the money for sooo many good causes..several missions trips a year and sooo much more. One time I brought a man in serious need of help and he got into a literal rehab where he received the medicine he needed for free because of a program they have at Awaken. The man even gave his life to Jesus and told me this afterwards. He's not drinking anymore. Thanks Pastor Mark! The recovery program is probably THE BEST because it's getting to a root cause of sooo many issues based on relationships that formed us at a young age. We learn to heal all issues revolving around Love Addiction, Codependency, Drug, and Alcohol Addiction among other issues. I just don't recall Pastor Becky or Jon ever going on about nice things...in fact they haven't talked about their home which they went through sooooo much to acquire. I go to women's prayer every Tuesday as well and they set aside time to pray for the nation since it's really a game changing principle to not only pray powerfully without fear or shame but come boldly before Our Father in Heaven because he wants to Yes & Amen our Words!! The Lead Pastor Jergen always says, "We will eat the fruit of our words!" So why not declare with beautiful, life giving words. Also, to add that they are a fashionable bunch but I actually now don't spend money on clothes!!! I have gotten away from a serious addiction to shopping. I think you have to attend a church for a good while to get a fair assessment and then share your testimony in a good Yelp Review!!! :) One more thing though...just that the church has really changed my whole life. Why? Because I think humans tend to be offended and I needed to understand the perspective that I had. I needed to forgive others ... And then myself. I couldn't continue to hear others in a healthy way if I was not healthy myself. I really think getting around people who are super loving and supportive in Connect groups changed that for me. Along with the vision I needed for buying my dream car and other things that are not as important as my transformation internally but indicative of the heart change because I look to God for answers when I need it since I am not married and well, he's there for me! Never ever fails!

This "church" used to be North Park Baptist Church that my family and friends attended for years…read moreand years until "Makers" came to share our building for whatever reason happened to their establishment and not only did they never leave they took over and changed everything about our loving beautiful nondenominational church where our amazing pastor Glenn and his beautiful wife Glenda lead us in service. Long story short 95% of our congregation left. Scattered. I would ordinarily give my negative opinions about Makers church but I'm really trying to be the good Christian my Pastor Glenn taught me to be so check it out for yourself. God Bless them and you.

Today I finally got the opportunity to check out the campus and then attended the 11:00 a.m. Sunday church service. I liked Horizon very much--the congregants seemed friendly and there were good vibes. I do not want to compare it to the church I usually go to, as far as the worship music goes. My preference is for a flashier rock music worship which gets me more in the mood for some good sermonizing. Horizon's is a very basic set-up, with a singer who plays the electric piano and a lady cellist. Nice but I need more pizzazz. Deduct 1 YELP STAR. The best part of Horizon: Mike MacIntosh. Pastor of Horizon for 36 years & just the right amount of Bible-thumping mixed in with some funny asides and personal family notes. I love that immediately we turned to Romans 8 and got right into the scriptural readings. After a prayer and amen, the Pastor read a few passages and then immediately explained what they meant to the congregation. Now this is not something all that unique, but some churches will open up the Bible, read one verse, and then the Pastor will pontificate ad nauseum the rest of the service. No, I want to get some book learning done on Sunday mornings. Breaking down Romans 8 into digestible passages and then doing explanations and some historical asides thrown in for good measure made for a perfect lesson in what Paul was actually trying to to say to the Romans regarding spiritual man versus sinful man. Could be that Pastor Mike was trained up in the Calvary Chapel method and that might account for a more literary reading of the scriptures. Next week for Easter, Pastor MacIntosh will be holding services outside in the Quad area. I think that should be nice since I noticed that the Horizon Church area is really just the school gymnasium decked out on Sunday with a stage and a mic stand. It was disconcerting listening to the sermon and looking up above for some heavenly guidance only to see basketball nets hoisted above the gathered pious crowd of Clairemont worshipers.

I've gone to churches in the past that were way too stuffy, but Pastor Marc does a really good job of making the sermons fun and cool. The statement come as you are is the most accurate statement. When i am with the PLC family I feel human, feel like there is more than military. I find solace in these halls. I felt very welcomed and everyone was super friendly and loved the flower communion. That was so original and new to me. They also had a fair outside selling various items as well as a nice bookstore and big hall with art exhibition. The campus is gorgeous with great views and fantastic mosaics. I went to Arise Christian Church for the first time and had such a wonderful experience. From the…read moremoment I walked in, at 10 am, everyone was warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere felt very genuine and family-friendly. We took communion, pastor personally came to me and we had a small talk. The worship was uplifting and heartfelt, I enjoyed the singing and the message was inspiring, practical, and easy to connect with. I also loved that they offer free coffee, tea, and pastries -- such a thoughtful touch that made it easy to relax and enjoy the morning. My friend's daughter absolutely loved the Sunday school program and was especially excited about the preparation for Easter. It truly feels like a church where you can grow spiritually, build meaningful connections, and feel at home from day one.

This is a beautiful church full of beautiful people!…read more I first learned of this church when a longtime friend and member began hosting a monthly women's bible study group (Holy Women of the Word) that's not necessarily affiliated with the CWC, but held on their campus. Consequently, some members of CWC also attend HWOW meetings and events, and hands down they are beautiful people! (Check out HWOW at hwowministries.org). I've met new friends and have attended service here before, as well as a couple of other gatherings. They really make you feel at home and embrace me as a member of the body of Christ. We both love Jesus and that's enough for us. This is how it should be everywhere! The church itself is friendly and diverse and has a lot of different ministries. Whenever I reunite with these beautiful people I feel like I'm just hanging out at my cousins house. Jesus is here and the Holy Spirit rules. Hallelujah!
