My daughter saw Dr. Patel first for issues with her tonsils…read more After a great experience and recovery, she recommended him to take a look at mine as well. He did an excellent job. I feel a lot better. My breathing has improved greatly after following all his recommendations. After years of trying everything else, I was able to finally get where I needed to be thanks to Dr. Patel's knowledge. º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤ºTHANKº¤ø,¸¸,ø¤ºYOUº¤ø,¸¸¸,ø¤ºDRº¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º

2 days after a routine septoplasty, my son was in the ER with significant bleeding from his nose…read more The ER physician packed his nostrils but he continued to bleed down his throat. When contacted by phone, Dr. Patel stated it was normal post-surgical drainage. No other ENTs would step in to examine him. He was admitted for the night, still bleeding down the back of his throat, choking and spitting blood into basins. The nurses continued to call. He insisted this was normal. It wasn't until the NEXT DAY, after 24 hours of bleeding, that Dr. Patel finally agreed to come. He enlarged the packing in the nostril that appeared to be bleeding, berated me for being an overly emotional mother, and complained that he was missing time with his family over this. I had to leave the room. He said he did not want to cauterize it at the hospital because it was too inconvenient for him. It could wait for his scheduled office visit in two days. The bleeding did not stop until that evening after my son pushed the packing even farther up into his nose and held it there for a couple of hours. Dr. Patel refuses to believe that sometimes unexpected complications may arise that need to be addressed promptly. He kept bringing up the fact that he's been doing this for 12 years without any problems. So if everything goes by the book, you'll be fine. But God help you if you have any complications. He was willing to let a patient suffer for 3 days because it wasn't convenient. I have no doubt he is a gifted surgeon, but his delusional belief that he can do no wrong needs to be addressed.

I've been seeing Dr. Handoyo at the UCMC. He's among the best. We've all had those patronizing and…read moredismissive doctors who just stare at their computer the whole appointment, or rush you out of the door in two minutes, but Dr. Handoyo takes the time to get to know you as a person. Then he asks you questions about your malady, investigates different treatment options, and even takes the time to educate you on your condition. He's also a model of patience and persistence. I was a little lazy about using the peak flow test at first, but Dr. Handoyo didn't get annoyed. He just explained the importance of getting a good baseline record of my lung capacity and how it would help him to provide the best treatment, so I made a commitment to be a better patient. With the pandemic and his specialty, I know he is at a greater risk than other doctors, so I especially appreciate his professionalism and efforts to ensure the health and safety of his patients.

I have seen Dr. Handoyo for my allergy and sinus issues. He's very patient with my many questions…read more(and I've been known to ask A LOT!) and is also very thorough in explaining how to treat the issue. I've also had to go through some tests for possible asthma as I had a cough that lasted for about 2 weeks. Dr. Handoyo and the team of nurses had me take a series of breathing tests, which all seemed overwhelming, but they were all good about explaining why we were doing the tests and what the results meant for me. I really feel at ease whenever I've had to see him and feel very much like I'm taken care of after I leave my appointment. He also has convenient locations for those who live/work in the city. I've gone to his LIncoln Park and Loop office. The Loop office makes it convenient to make appointments during the work week and the Lincoln Park office is a quick train ride from work too.

I thought I was over my allergies... Boy, was I wrong! I'd stopped getting shots when I was 18…read more I'd outgrown them, everything was fine. Okay, so I'd get the occasional flare-up around spring and fall, but nothing that couldn't be handled OTC, or so I thought. We took our daugther to get tested thinking she might have allergies. She didn't, but Dr. Blumenthal asked about her history, and that's when he found out I "used" to have allergies. He said, "Let's bring Dad in and have him retested. Things change." They had changed! I'm so much better for it now too!!! The testing procedure is simple, and virtually pain free. Nothing worse than a mosquito bite, and every step of the procedure is thoroughly explained! If they do decide that you need allergy shots, they start you off in increments. You'll start off getting shots once a week, and then you'll build up a tolerance. Eventually you'll go every other week, up to where I'm at now, once every four weeks. They have three locations, and the staff are all exceptional. They are not only professional, but accomodating. Everything you would expect a great doctor's office to be. And they are great with kids!!!! 5 stars might not be high enough!!! They also have two other locations, other than the one in Crown Point. They have a location in Valpo and one in Portage. 2802 Leonard Drive Valparaiso, IN 46383 219-531-5855 and 3125 Willowcreek Road Portage, IN 46368 219-762-3175
