Had an incident with the Paso Robles PD and because we weren't not locals they sided with the local. One if the officers was rage baiting and making threats to instigate me. He was very unprofessional. Kept going on and on and wouldn't let it go even after the other party had left. He was arrogant and spoke down to me even though I was a woman twice his age. He felt he had something to prove and I definitely had a feeling he knew the other party personally. read more

My experience with the Paso Robles Police Department was that after an abusive altercation while disabled, newly pregnant, homeless, and fleeing domestic violence from an ex who was continuously violating multiple 10-year protection orders I sought safety and medical assistance but was instead criminalized into the judicial system creating a record preventing me from my job and basic safe housing needs options during a moment of crisis. I wasn't being helped by the county's public human services department despite asking for assistance multiple times over the past 5 years, which left me in a desperate situation. At the time, I was experiencing homelessness, severe trauma, health complications on top of disability's, and impaired judgment due to overwhelming circumstances. Rather than receiving protection or a trauma-informed response, I was treated as an offender. Not sure how accurate this is going to be but it's my perception as to what I have experienced and witness in my time here in Paso, but why aren't there more people of color wearing the uniform? From Paso to Pismo Beach, it seems that the majority of the departments only have white cops. I get this is a sensitive subject (race that is) but I feel it needs to be addressed. I've applied to work here more then once and I'm an Army veteran who's deployed, ex federal police officer, and on the verge of getting my bachelor's degree and still got passed on. When I was asked in an interview "What might be a problem Paso Robles PD has?" (Like I'm supposed to know what issues you guys have.) I answered with, "To few officers in a growing city, and not that many minority officers." Mind you, I'm talking to 3 white cops at this interview (for the third time) and of the three, the head personnel of the board is a 2 star officer (whatever that means). Needless to say, this two star individual was quick to put his pencil down and ask how do they hire people of color when they don't apply. I'm sure people of color have applied...um hello, i did, and I'm a person of color. 3 hours later and an email stating, not moving forward with me. This is my forth, and last try with them. Now, I'm sure they have Hispanic officers, hell, I even saw a Black Officer not that long ago, but go to their station or website, what do you see? The majority are white officers of both sexes, not one trace of a colored minority. Central coast really needs to get some sort of audit to see where the problem is and why is it that people of color are not sought after more because I'm sure Black and Brown people have applied. Of course, this is only my side of the story and I'm sure the outstanding leadership of PRPD have a team working very hard to think of creative ways to recruit minorities into the police force, but I highly doubt that. read more

Love when you call when someone runs at you holding a weapon or act like they have one trying to car jack you and you call and they do absolutely nothing about it! Never got a call back about ot nothing! What a bunch a wimps that only worry about protecting themselves and not the public! The man is dangerous and should be removed before he really hurts someone! I was lucky to speed away from him, but who knows what he will do next. Just embarrassing how this was handled or not handled at all. Now it's even scary going out in public because we have no trust that these guys can and will do their jobs. Pathetic. read more

I am going to preface this by saying that I am not a "F@#$ the police" kind of guy, nor have I ever been. I think for the most part, law enforcement is helpful and are very competent. Then there is PRPD... There is an extremely loud party going on next door with live Mariachi music...yes, a live band. The noise is so loud, it is drowning out the TV in my place, and all my windows are closed. I have made three noise complaints since 7:15. During my 3rd call at 9:20 pm, the dispatcher informed me that "we are busy right now and have not been able to get someone over there yet". Yes, because there is so much violent crime and tomfoolery happening in Paso Robles between the hours of 7 pm and 9 pm, it would be completely impossible to send 1 OFFICER over there to spend all of 2 minutes of their time telling them to cease the loud music. Totally understandable. NAAAAHHHHT. Come on, PRPD. It's too early for the Bar fights, DUIs and domestic violence calls. You HAVE to be able to spare one officer to come my way and tell my neighbors to pipe down, or else. Overall, very disappointed with the efforts of PRPD to enforce this relatively minor (but extremely annoying and intrusive) violation. Perhaps if someone came over and shanked me in the neck, my call would receive priority. read more

I'm sorry the other poster is unhappy. I have had noise issues around me, but there was no way I was going to call the police, because I assume they have bigger fish to fry. I will say, the one time I have had contact with them, they made me feel safe. I heard someone shooting a gun. I was not the one who called them. I did not know where the gun fire was coming from. This was about 2 am. PRPD contacted me because my lights were on. I was visibly shaken and they made me feel safe and protected. Officer that came to my door told me not to worry and that if I felt unsafe, to call and they would be there in seconds. PRPD were professional and caring.
