This street is like the aorta is to the body. It's the lifeblood of the entire city- a place that takes you alongside thousands of other motorists speeding and stopping along the way (mostly stopping). The Paseo de la Reforma was supposedly built by the Emperor Maximillian to have parades to march from his castle in the Chapultepec Park to the center of town. It's a huge boulevard, that lines up perfectly between the porch of the Castle down through the Monument to the Heroic Children to the Angel of Independence. It's such a picturesque road, with lots of statues, monuments, fountains, and interesting architecture along the way. Some of the most famous banks are along this road, with huge skyscrapers as the calle shoots straight through the Financial District.
The amount of traffic on this road would certainly intimidate me as a driver, but fortunately there's Uber and Taxis.
Walking along this road in DF is certainly a must-do, to take in the grandeur of this huge road through the heart of the city. There aren't nearly enough pedestrian crossings around here, and it's a huge road to be trying to sprint across, especially at the roundabouts. Somehow the traffic police manage to keep things moving somewhat smoothly.
They shut down the street on Sundays to motorists for Cyclovia, where only runners and bicyclists may use the road. Awesome! read more
