I adore this lil bakery (panaderia). I stopped in twice during my stay. I would have gone more, but was trying to not be an over indulging fatty. It is very inexpensive, and worth the drop-in if you are nearby. It was walking distance from my hotel. It is not in the city center.
You have the option to dine at the Panaderia/Cafe or take your pastry (pan) to go.
When dining in, you can choose what type of pastry (pan) you'd like, then go around the corner, have a seat, and order an espresso (or other coffee of your choice) and then pay. I did this once and enjoyed sitting in the cafe. I tried a couple of different small pastries. I wish I knew the names of them
For the to-go order, I ordered the most delectable layered cake. It had 5 thin layers of cake and cream and was topped with an even thinner layer of orange jelly of some sort. I took my time savoring every bite! The employees are very nice and accommodated my Spanish speaking efforts. They wrapped up the pastry with care in cute paper and ribbon. What a special touch! read more
