Inside the church there is a vaulted space in which the twelve Apostles were carved, paired two by two, on the columns that support the arches.
This same upper floor keeps The Cathedral Treasure, among them, the cross of angels, the Victory Cross (present on the regional flag), the Chest of Agates, Mozarabic style and the holy shroud. Today, bars and alarms protect this treasure after a robbery in bad faith, never better said, shocked the Asturian people in 1977. The pieces were recovered, although some, after the looting, suffered considerable damage and had to be rebuilt.
In Oviedo, there's a saying that goes...."Whoever goes to Santiago and not to the Savior, visits the servant and leaves the master". This saying -very well-known in the Principality- refers to the Oviedo cathedral of San Salvador, a pilgrimage center on the Way to Santiago.
There was a fee of 6-7 euros to get in.
