This was my visit to Park University in Kansas City, Missouri. It is obvious of the historical features by looking at the architecture of the buildings. Their student union actually is underground, and rock features protrude throughout the hallways, which adds uniqueness to the structure. Classrooms use modern technology and each room has bright lights. The bathrooms are well maintained and are clean. Parking requires a permit to park on-campus. read more

This campus is breathtaking. It has the grandiose limestone of a Midwestern school mixed with the austerity of the Ivy League along with the gorgeous views the Missouri River provides. With all of this in mind what I wanted to see most is the CAVE LIBRARY! While I can't comment on the education Park provides, this is based purely on aesthetics. The cave library is eye catching on the outside and super impressive on the inside. You go down a flight of stairs to what looks like a normal campus building but what you have to remember is....You Are Underground! I don't know, maybe it's just me but I was impressed at all of the rooms this cave houses. Being a library in a cave alone impresses me but there's even better news as the campus bookstore is also housed in these nether-regions. I propose more colleges be built in and around caves. I believe when the stuff all goes down, I may take refuge here as it is important to preserve our education. An incredible institution for the size. I enjoyed my 4 years of undergrad here and made many friends. The classroom sizes were nice and I had so many positive interactions with the faculty and staff. They are growing right now and doing an incredible job accommodating students both traditional and non-traditional. Would 100% recommend to a friend. read more

Great academic school, but financial aid system is antiquated. Appears to be having growing pains in many regards.

I had some major issues attending Park University. I will go over the major ones to prevent myself from writing a book about all the bad experiences here. First, their graphic design department is tiny, and this causes an issue because they don't have many instructors. In fact, many of their departments are tiny, which, when you have very bad instructors, is not a good thing at all. When I was attending Park, they unfortunately had an instructor named David King working for them (I have heard he was fired) who was a very bad instructor. He would talk about himself during all of the classes I attended with him, displayed major favoritism toward certain students, and was very unhelpful, unprofessional, and quite a megalomaniac. I had to withdraw from Park thanks to Mr. King. I would have liked to have completed school here, but another incident happened with Park's security staff, where they accused me of stealing when I was trying to return a found item. Wow. I definitely don't suggest checking Park out, because when I brought this to the attention of the president of Park, I was told "he (the head of security) was just trying to prevent this from happening again." Trying to prevent me from returning an item again? Alrighty then.. thanks, but no thanks... I think the head of security was just obviously very bored, and wanted to play detective. Too bad I wasn't having it. He even called my workplace manager to "further investigate" things that I said about what happened.. um.. that's very, very inappropriate. Very pretty place for taking pictures, as long as security doesn't stop you, but as for education... it leaves much to be desired. (Yes, they even want you to pay for taking pictures here for your own personal use....) read more

Teachers are great. Campus is beautiful. Everything else sucks. Financial Aid are clueless, if you are due a refund, you won't see it until a month after classes start. That's really not helpful if you are needing to buy books. Which, the bookstore sucks too, it's in the cave which collapsed last spring, so you have to buy online now. I ordered USED books, my order confirmation clearly stated that I was receiving and paying or used books. They sent me new ones, at a cost of $250 MORE than I agreed to pay. If I had known I couldn't get them used, would have gone elsewhere. Oh, and that cave? Yeah, it's not safe for books, but they are still having classes down there. Not safe for books, but just fine for people apparently. They make a big deal about how everyone pays the same tuition. Another lie. If you are an undergrad taking Applied Music, you will pay $550 a credit hour for those classes instead of the $369 a credit hour that all other undergrad classes cost. Graduate tuition is $505. How is this ethical? Yeah, it's a world class program, but even Julliard doesn't do that! Don't punish the students because you want to have a small, exclusive department, that you are likely to injure yourself trying to keep up with. Also be prepared to hear things like "oh, there's this required thing you have to do, later today." without a thought that you might have other plans already. I had to miss seeing my sister who I hadn't seen in 6 years because I *had* to go to a performance that I was not actually involved in. As a music major, you will have no other life, and the instructors don't care if you fail any of your other classes, as long as you get your 10 hours of practice in, even then, your performance will NEVER be good enough, there is no such thing there. Administration is a joke. If you have a problem, forget it, they don't care, and getting a live person on the phone is next to impossible. If you are an adult student, be prepared to be treated like a child. Again, they don't care. If you live off campus, be prepared to not find a parking spot every day. I have literally missed class because there was not one place to park my car. Also, off campus students are kept totally out of the loop about things that go on on campus. AVOID THIS SCHOOL, IT ISN'T WORTH IT there really are better options in the Kansas CIty area. It's a big place, and there are at least 4 other colleges around. Choose one of them, and save your sanity, because there won't be a single week that goes by that you won't be furious about something! read more
