It was just me and the Blue Hole in total quiet and that moment alone was worth the detour. I thought about swimming but that early in the morning the water must have been freezing and I was not trying to risk the rest of my trip by starting the day shaking. Still the view and the atmosphere made it easy to enjoy without even touching the water. There is something almost unreal about finding a bright blue pool sitting in the middle of the desert. It feels unexpected and a little magical. Even though it is tucked away in the middle of nowhere it absolutely deserves a spot on any travel route. Calm quiet memorable. I am glad I made this stop.

There are shaded picnic tables which was nice for storing gear for the day during their dives. I'm not sure if there is an entry cost for swimmers, but there were lots of folks there that day for swimming and jumping off the ledge. They all seemed to be having a good time even with the chilly water. This natural feature is 81 feet deep and stays at approximately 61 degrees year round. We were told there are also caves that branch off from the bottom but those are closed due to a past slide that blocked the entrance. There is plenty of parking. They do charge a minimal fee to park. There are restrooms in close proximity to the water. There is a public restroom and also specific restrooms for those that are diving. The water really is a pretty shade of blue.

We were in site nine, which actually has a pretty private little area for your stay as well as as a picnic table that had a shelter over it. They do have a pool as well as a nice size laundry room with four washers and four dryers everything operated on quarters. It was two dollars to wash a load at $1.25 for 45 minutes of drying. They did offer us a menu when we arrive for a barbecue restaurant. I've included a picture of that, but the prices were really high so we did not partake. They were friendly at check-in as well. You were just a couple miles from the small town of Santa Rosa, looks like they have events and stuff happening down there so might want to check out the local calendar. We also found a little gym called Lyons heart that would let you do a day pass for $10, you can see that review separately. This was a fun area to spend a hot afternoon in Santa Rosa. They have a swimming area, a peddle…read moreboat area and a bounce house water challenge area. We didn't do the bounce house stuff, and I believe there is a fee to partake in that. There is a $5 fee to park, but this is good for both the Blue Hole and the Park Lake areas. We just enjoyed the beach and swimming area where you can dive off the dock at the diving board, or climb up and go down the tube water slide. There are life guards stationed around as well.

(400) pounds and let me tel you we only got stuck once where everyone gets stuck. It was the best they really care about people not just the dollar. These guys are very customers friendly and customer service oriented. Most knowledgeable guides out there. Don't ride with anyone else they only care about quick money. But new wave rafting cares about the people more. I'm gonna be back as much as possible. 1000% recommend these guys. Use new wave I promise you won't be disappointed. Also awesome pics too. Britt, the owner, met us before we headed out for our float, and we just casually conversed until it was time to go. Our outing coincided with a group of 25 Boy Scouts, so we could've been quickly lost in the shuffle, but Socia held us back and let the kids get way out ahead of us, so we felt like we were all by ourselves for the majority of the trip. She was so considerate and engaging and made it feel like we were on the river with an old friend. At the end of the trip, Britt met us again and hung out while we ate just casually conversing as if once more, we were catching up with an old friend. Thank you, Socia and Britt for the memory of a lifetime! Our little guy hasn't stopped talking about whitewater rafting on the Rio Grande.
