Purchased a metro pass for the week while visiting Paris after the airport ran out of Paris passes…read more We purchased the pass at the metro station. We were enjoying the metro until we were stopped by metro control at 10:00 pm while heading back to our temporary home. We were fined 35.00E per pass as we didn't have our photo on the card. Nobody told us we needed a photo. They even acknowledged the directions were in French. They proceeded to tell us the passes are for French residents, however, the metro station sold us these passes. It was evident we were not trying to getaway with anything and feel we were treated unfairly. I have no problem getting a photo, however, we should have been properly informed. We realize they were doing their job, however, we were not trying to take advantage of the system. Overall, we have had a pleasant experience in France and it is too bad that those in authoritarian roles are mistreating their visitors.
