Amazing exercise since it's all up hill and many routes involve endless stairs! We have gone two days in a row because it was so great. And don't forget the best perk...you get to visit the gorgeous ornate notre dame after you make it to the top and check out the 360 degree views. Suggestion: try out differnt routes from different starting points in Vieux Lyon. You can start near the Jean-Baptiste church or on the other end near the train station. You can also do switch back trails or narrow neighborhood streets or lots of stairs!

Au pied de ce jardin s'élève la maison de Pauline Jaricot, grande figure de la Propagation de la Foi et fondatrice du Rosaire Vivant au XIXe siècle. Ces jardins permettent de s'élever peu à peu jusqu'à la crypte dédiée à Saint Joseph. La porte des lions accédant à la crypte était, dans le projet de Pierre Bossan - architecte du jardin - l'entrée principale de la Basilique.

The banks of the Rhône have a different vibe than those of the Saône. I enjoyed walking along them…read morejust as much, but failed to see how it looks at night time. I will need to remedy that on a future visit. There are so many spots along the banks to sit back and relax which I made sure to take advantage of. Also perfect for a picnic with friends, a jog, bike riding, and more. The city does a great job at keeping the banks clean and maintaining the public areas. A lot of other cities could learn from how they do it here.
