Le Petit Trianon was the refuge from the court of Vesailles for Marie Antoinette. It was gifted to…read moreher by her husband, Louis XVI in 1774. We entered Le Petit Trianon and straight away followed the outdoor path to the Temple of Love. We contined on to the Queens Hamlet; a wonderful walkable and lovely stroll that takes you back to another time. There are rustic cottages that guests of the Queen stayed in upon her invitation. Herbs and vegetables grown in the gardens were used for meals. Ilthe property also included a dairy. There are waterways and unique and prized trees planted throughout. We spent more than half of the afternoon exploring this area, so we had run out of time to go inside Le Petit Trianon! Its only opened from 12pm-5:30pm, so it would be best to plan ahead according to what you want to see. There is so much to explore! We enjoyed this more than dealing with the crowds at Versailles. Take the little train one or both ways, ( stops at the grand canal, and Le Grand and Petit Trianon) which was 9 euros when we visited in Feb 2026. Be sure to find out beforehand when the last little train leaves, as we missed it. Its about a 30 minute walk back to the Palace from Le Petit Trianon.

You can rent a golf cart or hop on a mini-train, but if weather permits, the walk is not bad at all. Mom and I came here as part of our day trip to Versailles, and we both loved visiting these little chateaux. While they are both a good bit smaller than Versailles, each is quite grand (in every sense of the word). Mom and I especially enjoyed seeing the furnished rooms and beautiful views from the windows. Warning: the signage is not particularly extensive, so it's easy to get turned around. It's not the end of the world (the gardens are lovely as can be), but do plan for a bit of wandering. Enjoy the peace. Side note: definitely visit the Queen's Hamlet. It's super fun: imagine an interpretation of a small English village, complete with thatched roofs.

Finally, I've never had to pay while I went to car to the gates, where there are offices, and also because 55 places twice. Something else to say, the park is a safe place, we must finally always be careful, for outdoor games. The spaces wood own, without thorns, are extended herborées invitations to ball games, the aisles to move in park, very well made. And there is always room, I can assure you. I repeat, it's so large and you if you do not the slightest sense of direction, it is advisable, if not let rocks, at least to note your successive directions. It is surprising (but so much the better) that Paris and banks lieusards do not go over the park at Saint-Cloud! Ah! a bit of history: the park of Saint-Cloud was traced on the area of the Palais de Saint-Cloud. Princely residence, royal and Imperial , built by the will of Sir, brother of King Louis XIV. Speciality French abandoned, burned, it was a day shaved, and he remains very much.

A welcome sanctuary for those looking for a bit of peace and quiet. Best time to come is in the Spring when the cherry blossom trees are in full bloom Wandering around the gardens made me slightly nostalgic for my home in England which is nestled in the heart of the Somerset countryside. If I'm ever missing home I always come here and pass through the quaint Japanese gardens to the comfort of the English rose gardens.

The boat departed out of Le Pecq on the Siene so Viking was kind enough to add an additional tour of the surrounding city of Saint-Germain En Laye. A bus picked us up and drove us up the steep hill to get to the medieval castle and the castle park. Our tour guide walked us through the park. Since this used to be where the royals lived, the park was supposed to be a sanctuary in which the royals could go outside and not necessarily be bothered by the public. We walked the park until we got to an old building at the corner were we discovered where Louis the 14 (the sun king) was born. The structure is now a hotel and restaurant, but the room still remains intact (yet to be restored) but a cool little find. The park is east of Paris and since it and the castle sit on a hill it gives you a nice look a the modern/financial buildings of Paris. I noticed a lot of people running around the park and exercising as well as school children hanging out and relaxing between their classes.
