So happy to find this place only a 15 minute drive from home…read more Plenty of space to walk around. Paths to ride bikes or run. Lake to fish. There's a big playground with plenty of shade. Downside for me personally is the sand but other than that my oldest (6 years old) enjoyed our visit here. They also have some tennis courts but not sure how it works out to utilize them or if they provide gear or not. There's a "bar" area but not sure what they serve besides beer, fries and ice cream. Nice place to take photographs.

If it wasn't for the fact that I booked a tour to go and visit some of the sites from the Battle of…read morethe Somme I would have never known about this place. The thing with this park is that it is actually managed by the Canadian Government, and Canadian students come here on a four month rotation during the warmer months to provide guides and information about the park. The park is actually the remains of trenches from one of the initial fights in the battle of the Somme, and is significantly to the Canadians due to the significant loss of life that was experienced here. Don't expect to see any fully preserved trenches - the ravages of war, and the elements over the last hundred years has simply made them depressions (some of them quite deep) in the ground. However you can still see the remains of some bomb craters, and they even have a path that leads through one of the trenches. In the middle of the park is a memorial to the Newfoundlanders who lost their lives in the battle, and there are a couple of other cemeteries, and a memorial to the Scottish troops who also fought here. Definitely a must see if you are on a World War tour of Europe.

Danish artist Thomas Dambo has built seven giant trolls from reclaimed wood using old shelves, pallets, and branches from fallen trees. Trolls are 13 to 60-foot-tall sculptures and are dotted around the forest with some practicing chores and others taking a rest. Super fun to discover! But be careful for mosquitoes - they are brutal in the wooded area. Mr & I got totally eaten. But better than being eaten by the trolls. This place absolutely rocks!
