We got the food and tortillas for carne Asada were hard but considering it took 45 min for the food we just dealt with it. I ate here a couple years ago and remember the experience being good so when we were looking for a lunch spot today we gave it another try. That was a mistake. Food is way over priced for how mediocre it was; dry rice, over cooked steak, flavorless chicken. Just not great. What really bummed us out was the bad service. I asked for water and didn't get it till 10 minutes later when I asked again. My kids asked for pinto beans and still got refried. I had fajitas and when our food was delivered instead of coming back quickly with the tortillas the server stopped to take another tables order first. We were never asked how we were doing after our food was delivered but we did get a water refill. $40 tab for two entrees, a kids meal and pick de Gallo was so not worth it for bland food and bad service. Picked up dinner to go from Paraiso in Smokey point. Dinner was well packed and hot. Tamale was delicious, masa was tender and flavorful. Chili relleno was cheesy and tasty. I also got a strawberry margarita to go, my first time getting one of their drinks as I am usually the DD. Paraiso has the best American style Mexican food in the Marysville/ Smokey Point area. It has a flair that many other American style Mexican joints don't offer. Tried to take my wife out to dinner, and was severely disappointed. Service was terrible. Asked for more chips and salsa, all that happened was taking away the dishes. My wife's water was empty and I moved it to the edge of the table and no less than 4 staff walked by and did nothing. One guy even made eye contact with my wife, looked at the empty glass, and just kept right on walking. The restaurant wasn't even half full so there is no excuse. Had to wait about 10 minutes after we were done eating to even see somebody to ask for our check. Guess it must have been a bad day or something. I saw great photos on their web site very delicious looking, nothing like the meal we were served. I read past reviews and looked forward to a great dinner of Mexican delights, but alas, was a bit disappointed. Pico de gallo looked bad, like it had been sitting in open heat for long time, very watery and mushy tomatoes, could not taste cilantro or onion. Tri-fajita of steak, chicken & shrimp mediocre. Steak over cooked & tough, chicken very dry as if cooked more than once, and shrimp, well can't really tell as there were only 3 -- I guess that's where the tri comes in. Refried beans was no Beans just the bean paste -- I realize Refried beans does not mean beans but has to have some beans along with the paste or patee, hence the name. It actually looked like it was poured from one of those very cheap cans of Refried beans that is all ground up pinto beans. The rice very dry -- Perhaps cook was gone home sick or something and they had to make due. We will give it another go in a few weeks just in case this was a fluke. But we love Mexican cooking so if it's the same as this time that'll be the last. read more

We had lunch here while coming back from the Tulip Festival in the Skagit Valley. This is on the way to Seattle from Skagit valley on I5 South Exit 206. The restaurant felt warm. They serve you complimentary tortilla chips with salsa. We ordered guacamole. Wow! They made the guacamole fresh right in front of us!! It tasted amazing. Definitely recommend ordering one. As for the entrees, they were huge portions, the food was really good. Great place for vegetarians. We had a vegetarian burrito, spinach enchilada and vegetarian sampler. The burrito had lots of vegetables unlike a fast food burrito. The service was very good. Prices were very reasonable ($11-$13 typically) Overall, very happy with the place. Paraiso has a solid following. Not sure if it is the bar, because I don't think that it is for the food particularly. It's not bad food, but it is really nothing to write home about. La Hacienda is much better, with better service, bigger portions and better flavor. But I wish Paraiso well. I'm glad to see that they can be successful in that location. We were there to celebrate my sisters 16th birthday and it is extremely unacceptable for the staff to continue to over serve a table of adults who were pissing off the entire dining room. There were children and family's trying to enjoy their time and talk and ease into their weekends. Instead we got to listen to people screaming about dick and fingering pussy and talking like sailors. NOT OKAY. Tonight we had a very pleasant experience. The restaurant is clean and decorated nicely. The employees all had smiles on and were busy. We were promptly greeted by a friendly hostess. We were immediately served chips, salsa and pico de gallo which were tasty and all were fresh. The iced tea was good and flavorful. The prawn fajitas were delicious. The serving was way more than I could eat by myself. The corn tortillas were fresh and good. The beans and rice were very good. The flan was very tasty. Manuela was our lady and she was delightful, efficient and attentive. I feel like the food was authentic Mexican food. I am accustomed to Mexican food in Southern California and this is as close as I can get. We will be back......again and again. read more
