We lucked up because we had went to other Positano pharmacies prior to and they were fine, but this one was right across from Montemare where we were staying and we found it to be superior to the others. Me and my two girls friends were on our second day of vacation in beautiful Positano and two of us woke up with the worst headache, cold, and stuffed nose. I never get sick and I usually don't take medicine but we were on vacation and had beach club plans the next day! Luckily we saw this adorable pharmacy on the main road on our way to lunch from our hotel so we walked in and received wonderful customer service from Carlo. Carlo, the owner makes for a great and entertaining addition to a trip to Positano! We stumbled across his well-stocked pharmacy while looking for some help getting 'regular' for one of our group. When his remedy worked, we returned throughout the week for all kinds of things including something to help us sleep on the plane on the way home. He recommended a homeopathic melatonin so we wouldn't wake up groggy. Scary taking pharmaceuticals from a foreign country, so we were hesitant, but it worked great for all 3 of us! While we were there we also tried a topical ibuprofin cream to soothe our sore feet and tired stair-walking calves. It worked so well, we went back and bought several more to bring home and for gifts. Carlo knows his stuff. When you are travelling, sometimes you run out of an item or two. This review is based on honesty as when I am a tourist somewhere, I don't like getting ripped off. A few things to note: -When making purchases in Rome and Positano, there were no additional taxes on purchased items that are on the receipt. The price is the price. -They always have to give you a receipt, it's the law. -Visiting the other stores in Positano, the other stores had stickers for their prices on the bottom of each item, or signs indicating the price. Here's what happened. On entering this store, I noticed that there were no prices listed anywhere. There were other women in the store shopping, some asking for nail clippers, sunblock and because there were no prices, he would stand behind the counter and call out the prices in euros and the women would step up and pay. Ok, independent pharmacies are sometimes a bit more costly for household items, so understandable. Also, I know tourist season is from April - November so this is the only time of the year to get customers to purchase at your shop. I get it. You still shouldn't rip off customers! I asked him for prices of several items. For one tooth care item, he verified it was 4 euros and for a skin product, he verified it was 17 euros. There is no additional tax charged so the total price should be 21 euros, right? He rang up the total and it came out to: 5 euros charged for the tooth care item + 22 euros charged for the skin product, posted a 3 euro "discount", bringing the total to be 24 euros & over charging by 3 euros. The pharmacist's name is Carlo Montefusco and he will tell you one price and charge you.... Whatever he feels like. 3 euros is no big deal you say? Think of it this way, for a foodie like me, that is another delicious lemon gelato we could have had sitting watching the coast line on the Amalfi coast. One star for having products in a clean store. Knock off 4 stars for the deceptive service, for being ripped off and fair warning to other people who may stroll into this location just like I did. The irony is that the motto of the store is printed on the bag when you purchase an item: "The Pharmacist is your friend". :P If you want to avoid being ripped off with dishonest charges, he should be no friend of yours nor your pharmacist. :( read more

Carlo is always ready to assist (in Italian or English) when you have an ailment. He is open late and his impecably maintained farmacia is the first on the road into town and nearest to Fornillo. I have visited Positano for years and stay for months at a time and have gotten to know Carlo. During our multi-day Amalfi Coast vacation, my wife & I picked up a brutal head cold while traveling to Positano. We visited Parafarmacia Positano with both of us feeling horrible. We were about to kick off three very long days of touring and as you could imagine, we were feeling horribly. Upon entering the store, we were immediately greeted by Carlo Montefusco with his extremely friendly disposition. We explained our situation and he listened very intently and professionally, and then with his warm voice and welcoming style, he suggested a couple of items to help. During the next day, we gradually started to feel better. During the evening, we stopped by to say hello again. We needed a refill on one of the items and also, because Carlo is such a genuinely nice person and we knew that he would cheer us up. His personality is genuinely contagious, meaning his style is like being near a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. He's one of those rare people that will make you feel better, just by being in their presence. The next day, my wife and I began to feel better because of the items he suggested and we were buying gelato in the evening and made sure to stop in - for only to say hello. Really. Dott. Carlo Montefusco is fabulous and he should be teaching others in the same industry to treat customers with the same level of warmth - not to mention his medical proficiency. He is exactly the kind of person you want to see if you need a pharmacist and or other types of personal items that you might normally get from a "CVS" or "Walgreens" in the United States. Carlo is a pure gem. If you are in Positano or on the Amalfi Coast, stop in to say hello, even if you are not needing anything because Carlo Montefusco will make you feel better, whether you realize it or not.
