This is a restaurant that show cases the Chef's abilities to select the day's fresh local ingredients and make something incredible. If your not familiar with this style, Chef's Table, then you are in for a great experience. The basic program is the chef prepares a 4-5 set course. Dos gives you one option and that is for the main course: fish or meat. They also ask if you have any food allergies. For my visit the the course were; local fish sashimi with a light dipping sauce and cup of seafood consume, a bowl of clear broth soup with fish, an incredibly rich pork taco, the main course and then a dessert which had the taste and texture of homemade ice cream and flan. All were in credible. The beverage selection is a modest mix of local and import wines. We had a local which was suggested by our server and it was a very nice complete to our meal. For pre and post dinner beverages, the selection is equally as good. If you are in Veracruz and you are looking for a proper meal made from a masterful chef, Dos is a must visit.
Fantastic! A…read morerestaurant without comparison in the area. Went for dinner where they serve a fixed 6 course menu. Servings were all great, correctly sized and new. Service great too Decoration also nicely done. All in all my new favorite place in Mexico that i think is better than Pujol and Biko and the likes. Makes me feel great like Bistro Maximo. Cons: Limited wine list Usual Mexican style where they clear the table before everydone has finished.

Some locals tapped their cups, and a waiter would fill their cups with separate pours of coffee and hot milk. But they poured out of small pots, which must be more efficient at keeping the drinks hot. Perhaps since I was obviously foreign, it didn't work for me. As soon as I tapped my cup, my waiter quickly just brought me a fresh cup. Fine with me, as I was more interested in observing the classy old establishment which feels like being in a black and white film with old photos on the walls.

In spite of the grand size of the restaurant there was a line halfway arpund the block.. we waited about twenty minutes to get a table inside for thw two of us. They had a full band and so many sercers scurrying around to serve everybody. I ordered the en enchiladas roja and a side of fruitas. They both were very filling and exquite. My friend ordered empañadas xon queso which was an even larger platter. We both got two chocolates de la francesa and thwy were vwry hot. I would absolutely gove this place fove stars for the food and service. It's vwry popular here in Veraxruz.

I blame the heat for the frustration (of course only if it's within reason) The Lechero was decent. It was good but I wouldn't say it was the best coffee i've tried. It's super cheap and the food is plentiful. The Picadas (and empanadas are a MUST! FYI a Picadas is just like a Sope minus the beans. Both my partners parents called this place "the best restaurant they had in Veracruz"…read more Our favorite dish here, the one I highly recommend, is the "Camarones estancia" which had shrimp, cheese and peppers/onions in a creamy green sauce (pictured below). That dish, which was 240 pesos, is a solid 5 stars. We also ordered their signature dish, the "molcajete del Rey" which was an octopus, shrimp and garlic soup served in the restaurants traditional stone wear bowl made from volcanic rock for 378 pesos. It was good, but I definitely preferred the "camarones estancia" more. We also tried some tacos de pulpo, which were a little too spicy for me but my partner and his parents really enjoyed and I ordered the "ensalada berros" for 100 pesos which had peppery watercress greens, pine nuts, goat cheese with walnuts, little crunchy bits and cherry tomatoes. It was good but I had wished that it would have come with a salad dressing. I especially enjoyed the goat cheese balls in it and used some of the sauce from the "camarones estancia" to dress it since I really liked that sauce and it was not too spicy. The "liquado de papaya" was also good but it appeared to be mixed either with a thick yogurt drink or sweetened condensed milk which made it very rich and likely high in sugar and lactose so it is not for everyone. One thing I will say is that if you pay using a card make sure they are not overtipping you since they kept calculating a 50% tip on our bill and we kept having to repeatedly correct them for it - so just make sure you don't get scammed, particularly because the prices here are more expensive than many of the other restaurants in the area.
