The pans they sell for baking are super high quality and not extremely over priced. The assortment of water bottles is rather impressive. On top of, or should I say below, all the kitchen supplies they have an arts and crafts section in their basement. I could spend an hour in this place easily. This is also were I was first introduced to a raclette, which you should google immediately if you don't know about them. They are the most amazing cheese cooking apparatus ever!

My husband lost his mind and asked which is better for us. You always pay in the currency of the country you are in and let your bank do the conversion. She told him "oh in your own currency" - this was just another example of people hating tourists and trying to stick it to us.
Back in the 80s and maybe early 90s, my Aunt worked at the US Embassy in East Berlin. From her time…read morethere she collected all kinds of little treasures from Germany and brought them back for family and friends - of those that she gave my father included German smokers and a Christmas Pyramid. These became iconic holiday items that every year we looked forward to getting out and putting on display in our home. This was my second time in Germany and the first time I picked up one smoker in the black forest when I was studying abroad, but this time I wanted a Christmas pyramid of my own and upon finding this shop I knew I'd come to the right place. Kathe Wolfhahrt is the quintessential holiday shop in Germany. You'll find anything and everything iconically christmas for this region of the world and it will not let you down. On this trip I found a great pyramid that I'll get to enjoy with my own family and added a charming little chubby cat man smoker to our holiday collection. I'll caution you that it isn't cheap, but I do think the quality of this shop is much better than other little vendors you'll find in the region, and honestly even if you don't end up purchasing anything it's a really fun shop to explore and look at these pieces of German artwork.

I visited the actual store several years ago, it was very well stocked with loads of souvenirs and was helped by very helpful lady. All of the staff speak very good English and there is a large variety of gifts from the very expensive to the very affordable. Beer steins, glassware, figurines, ornaments, decorative wooden nutcrackers, and on and on. There is fine crystalware and the common tourist magnets and pens. Surely you can find a lovely gift for yourself or a loved one here. I very much enjoyed wandering around admiring the variety of giftware. After stopping by to take photos of the Cuckoo Clock, pop inside for a souvenir magnet, German wineglasses, a glass stein, a Hummel or an ornament and to say hello. I believe they ship-just ask.
