You won't be able to help becoming friends with her because she is the most cheery, colourful and interesting hairstylist you'll find. Over the couple of years that Tara has been doing my hair we've taken it from bright orange to blonde to orange with a fade to blonde then orange with a fade to pink then highlighter pink then peach then back to blonde. Admittedly, I'm one of the lucky ones whose hair will give back colour without needing to use really strong, damaging products but Tara was always honest with me. If she didn't think that my hair was healthy enough to do something I wanted then she would tell me and recommend products to use that would get my hair back to good health. You always want a hairstylist that isn't going to compromise the health of your hair to give you what you're asking for but will offer some great alternatives. If you're looking for a hairdresser in the Inner West, whether for a run of the mill cut or a wild alternative look, then definitely give Tara a try. I actually haven't been to another hairdresser since I moved interstate in February because I haven't come to grips with trusting someone else with my hair!

My husband bought me a Groupon for this hair salon where I was able to get color and a cut for $89…read more After finding out the prices of hair salons in Sydney I thought it was a terrific offer. I need to clarify that this was my first time getting my hair done here in Australia, as I have just moved from Chicago, and we all hate moving salons. My appointment was at 1:30 so I arrived promptly at 1:25 and informed the hairdresser I had arrived. They brought me to a chair and asked me if I wanted water (which I accepted) and then left me. No introduction to the salon, or who would be taking care of my hair. I sat, (without a "hello" or "so and so" will be with you soon) for about 20 minutes. After that time someone finally came over and informed me she would go mix my colour. Again, no introduction (Still didn't know her name). I stopped her to explain my situation - that I was looking for change. I have been platinum blonde for too long and needed some depth. So, finally she left which was again, another 10 mins or so and came back. The entire time she was foiling me she seemed really put off that I was there. In fact, I would go as far as to say nervous maybe? No smile. I started trying to make small talk to no avail. After my hair had processed and had been cleaned I was walked over to another young girl (I think around 23) and started with the cut. I have been taking care of my hair for a long time, even told by stylists for many years that my hair takes really well to color/bleach without damage. You can imagine my surprise when this young girl turns to me and chastised me for getting highlights. Told me that my hair was in very poor condition and that I was basically an imbecile. I'm sure she was trying to be nice, or asserting her knowledge of hair... But I have worked in salons many times and I know my way around damage. is this review turning into a rant? Looks like it. Lets just say that I won't be going back here. I left feeling extremely anxious and longing for my old salon where I always felt pampered and taken care of. This Groupon failed miserably and I hate my cut. BTW - who still feather face frames these days?!

They were so good at fitting in with my usual preferences and did a brilliant job with my colour, cut and blow dry. Premises -- Very spacious and pleasant premises, in a handy location. Colorist -- Very experienced colorist who selected the perfect combination for a half head of foils. She also sectioned perfectly to accommodate my hairline. Plus, she made some recommendations which suited my hair type brilliantly. Stylist -- A young stylist who impressed me. He made great choices that suited my hair type and face, but didn't stray outside my comfort zone. Bonus points for not pressuring additional product sales on me and for asking me if I wanted them to call me a taxi (which I did) - way to predict my needs. Also, I was quite impressed with their range of coffees, teas and snacks offered as complimentary.

Choosing a hairdresser is serious business. About as serious as the first time you learn to drive…read more Or as serious as saying yes to a wedding proposal. I have tried many hairdressers all over Sydney but have never been able to commit to just one. I find most hairdressers pretend to listen to what you have to say and then cut whatever style they are used to. I said no layers, miss. Oh you said no layers? I thought you said four layers. Too late, my bad. You can see my conundrum. Well that was until I was referred to Partners Hair. I made a booking with Joe (sometimes hard to come by) and prepared for the worst. But the moment I arrived ("Would you like some tea, coffee, water infused with strawberries ma'am?") I felt a connection to the place. Joe was wonderful. He was delightfully entertaining and all around chatty. It was like getting a haircut by your best friend. We talked about dancing, partying and our weekend hangovers that we'd been trying to put at bay, babies and boyfriends. I left feeling satisfied and confident in Joe's handiwork. Now I don't go anywhere else. I generally make appointments with Joe but have also tried Wissom, who is equally friendly and just as good with the scissors. They have a loyalty card where every three visits you receive something extra (free treatment, free product or free hair cut) and they send you birthday specials via text message. Once I even received a message for a discount haircut because they noticed I hadn't been in awhile (I'm lazy like that). If that is not true customer service, I don't know what is.

While I often indulge in pompous products and fancy styling (by…read morewhich I mean, I take a straightener to it with reckless abandon), I don't always put forth the same amount of care when choosing a stylist. When it's time, it's TIME. Most recently, I found myself with hair reminiscent of the homeless lady that patrols Glebe Point Road, and so I set out to find someone to remedy it. A short Google search later, I discovered the nearby Partners Hair Workshop and BAM, booked for that afternoon. So first of all, they were doing a spectacular 30% off for first time customers, free deep conditioning special. What's more, I was offered a glass of white while I sat down for my consultation (which turned into 2, I mean, right?). My hairdresser Max listened closely to what I was after, gave some good input and got to work chopping. He worked quickly and amused me all the while with his stories of big nights out on Oxford St. As I slurped the last of my wine, he went to town with the blow dryer and about 5 round brushes to achieve the "bouncy" look. At the end of my appointment I ended up with a kickass haircut and a new possible best friend. It just took one wash to bring my 80s prom queen-esque styling into the current decade but I must admit, the cut was a great one- well shaped, good layering and the perfect amount of fringe. Go see Max, he's definitely a kick and the boy knows his scissors.

I explained this to the hairdresser she said we'd have to do it in stages ect, I said I wanted an all over colour change. I didn't like the highlight look. She explained the way she did highlights it would look mostly like One block colour. I figured she had more experience then me. So i said sure. When she was done with highlights ect. My hair looked really streaky and I was disappointed. I tried to explain this, but she just said going blonde was a process. So I went home and slept on it, figuring I would feel better in the morning. The next day I still felt unhappy with my hair and considering I paid 290 and I'm just an university student. So getting my hair coloured is a real treat. I decided to ring up and explain the situation. I got a pretty aggressive guy, I dunno if he was just stressed or that's his manner. He wanted to put me in contact with the hairdresser I had the miscommunication with, I explained I wasn't comfortable with that and would rather just use someone else in future. He seemed disgruntled and annoyed and it made me feel anxious. So I decided I would just go somewhere else, I explained this to him, he seemed annoyed. He rang back half an hour later and asked again if I would like to book an appointment to get my hair fixed. This time I agreed as I couldn't really afford to go Somewhere else and he sounded calmer. I explained I needed my hair done by today though, because I had a wedding the next day. He said there were no available appointments and he couldn't help me until next week. I explained that I needed a quick fix, because I had a wedding and I needed to look right for the photos. He seemed to get snappy and annoyed again. So I just said I would have to go somewhere else as I needed it done by tomorrow and I did. After I went to the next place, where they fixed my hair and did an exceptional job. (Brown to blonde super easily and really friendly) I decided that maybe I could Ask for a refund considering they weren't able to fix my hair for me and now In total this hair had cost me 500 dollars. I rang inches hair back to discuss this and the man basically just yelled at me, for even ringing him again and hung up. All in all an awful experience. I completely understand that sometimes hairdressers don't get it right ect ect. But what I don't understand is how Incredibly unhelpful and rude they were making me feel anxious and uncomfortable. At this point it's not even about if I got a refund or not, it's about the fact they were so rude to their customers. So disappointed, would not recommend.
