Great little shop with fabulous, unique Designer T-Shirts, Sweatshirts and Hoodies, all in amazing…read morequality. Most of the designs are done by Human Empire Graphic Design but there is a great selection from other Designers as well. It's hard to limit oneself to one piece, but they always have some pieces on sale which helps to stay on budget if you buy more than one. They also have great posters and a good selection of design books. The shop is housed in an old store from the 50's with original wood paneling, drawers etc. Staff is very friendly and helpful and never, ever pushy. They have a smaller second location a few minutes away in Bartelsstrasse, also in the Schanzenviertel.

Muji is a Japanese brand which sells lots and lots (and lots) of no-logo goods. They've got everything from home accessories, office supplies, furnishing, basic clothing, travel gear, small electronics and storage solutions. I picked up a really nice pair of house slippers, a few bathroom supplies and a zip-folder for storing papers, I'd love to come back here and perhaps buy one of their memory foam pillows and ink pens. Prices here are decent. Soaps can be expensive at 7e a bottle and the rest of the prices aren't cheap - but the quality of the items is really very good. I think the automatic tendency to associate no-logo goods with poor construction and a very cheap price-level is well challenged by Muji. Very worth a visit if you need... stuff. They literally have everything you need for your day-to-day. Quality is excellent, product design is great. They just made a loyal customer!

Also lots of gifts and many stationary things for kids. In this time of the year you can't escape Christmas merchandise. There's a Hamburg section, with all the touristy trinkets. An enormous choice. I found my perfect agenda 2009 there, so here come 5 stars.
