I've been a fan of "Find Pearl Wednesdays" on Facebook for a long time. The store looked SO CUTE online and it did not disappoint! I was enchanted by the books, adorable stickers and snarky bumper stickers. I brought my bestie and we had a great time! She acquired a Fiestaware piece that she'd been looking at online for a while. Who would have known that a visit to a bookstore could be so magical? It's a combination of bookstore and gift shop but a whole lot more too. There is wonderful whimsy in the merchandise on the shelves, as well as in the decor and displays. Even the stairs were unique. I could not stop laughing at the silly stickers, tote bags and journals and other items in the first floor gift area. And as a serious bibliophile, I admit to "over-partaking" while perusing the book selection, mostly on the second floor. I found four awesome books that I can't wait to read. I know there was more to be found on the third floor, but I was afraid I would completely lose control if I ventured there today. On my next visit for sure! The owner was so friendly and cool with her unique, vintage style. And very helpful, yet not in the least bit pushy, and helping me find what I was looking for. And best of all, she was happy to share her kitties with me. Books AND cats? I was in heaven! One of her many gorgeous cats, a huge black shorthair kitty named Popcorn crawled into my arms, onto my shoulders and into my heart. He followed me upstairs, and got some more loving later. But always a perfect gentleman too, with the sweetest little "mewww." I never wanted to leave this place! Will definitely be back the next time I am traveling or visiting, McGregor, Iowa. What a treasure we found in McGregor!!!! The minute I saw their window displays, I knew I would be leaving money to fuel the local economy. It is three floors filled with amazing art ephemera, stickers, books, special gifts, and more. I visited twice during our visit to McGregor and bought several Christmas gifts and even some treasures for special little ME! The owners are over the top marvelous and friendly. This is a FUN place! Great books, great customer service and 3 stories of books. Who could ask for more! I love the idea of blind date books. Needless to say I spent a happy hour in the store and bought lots of things to take home. Had my picture made with "RBG" and thoroughly enjoyed myself. My family takes a fishing trip somewhere up in northeast Iowa once a year. No matter where we stay, I always make sure to visit Paper Moon. You could spend hours wandering the packed three floors of this gem. This is one of my most favorite places in all of Iowa. The ladies who run the shop always have nice conversation with us. The cats are always courteous of your space, but do let you pet them. My husband is allergic and doesn't mind the dander during the visit. I love the treasures you can find here. Paper Moon was a huge part of my childhood. My grandparents lived in McGregor, and so I spent many summers walking the streets here. I loved Paper Moon, and still do. They have all the knick-knacks that a girl would die for. There is the practical, the atypical, and the humorous. Who wouldn't want some cucumber mint 'lip shit' (chapstick)?! And I've always loved their jewelry. This family boutique is teeming with style. It is a must stop location for the area. Don't forget to pet the kitties that are roaming the shelves. read more

All genres are well represented and if you don't find what you are looking for, ask...they will order you the specific book you want. The children's books are unique and great to peruse when looking for a literary baby shower gift. In addition to being a great bookstore, there are fabulous, funny, quirky, stylish and fun gifts to delight you. We always stop at the Paper Moon when we visit the area. I recently found myself in McGregor, IA and came upon Paper Moon. Walking in the front door, the theme of Mad Men was playing and I felt immediately at home.
