Jungle Casita

So much hype on this resort that we wanted to check in out ourselves. Family of 3 stayed here 6 nights. Upon arrival we were greeted by security who directed us where to park. We were than greeted by another gentleman who assisted us with our luggage. Reception desk is located in a hut setting which is kinda cool. Angel was assisting us without our check in. He was great. New to the property himself. We were there early so our room wasn't ready. So, we walked around and ate at the restaurant which had the best view in the resort, overlooking the beach. Drinks were kinda watered down but oh well. Received a text at 3pm our room was ready so headed over to the reception hut. While we waited a gentleman was there complaining how he had sent messages via whatsapp 3 hours go for some assistance and no one has responded. There were two other employees at the reception desk who didn't even move to assist him, so we were a little confused. Angel assisted him and then got us checked in. All guest communication is done via whatsapp but didn't sound like the staff were responding to the txt messages promptly. We got to our room which was a very rustic feeling room with a tree branch that gave me the Flinstone vibes. Room was gorgeous and different. Shower is located behind your bed, but the divider bar is high enough to give you some sort of privacy if you have kids sharing the room with you. Outdoor pool located is useless, as it was dirty with tree branches and leaves, water was cold, and it is in the shaded area so zero chance for warm swim unless you enjoy a cold plunge. I read reviews of room being dirty but ours was clean. Had two robes, mini fridge, towels, and all amenities. There are food nooks outside/inside so you can place your dirty dishes from room service, but you must be very careful to close it well to avoid racoons getting inside your room. Few reviews complained about this, but this can be avoided with some attention. We waited an hour for our luggage no one came so we walked back to the reception and were told the person who was supposed to deliver your luggage left for the day. Glad we walked back to check if not we would be waiting for a while ! Restaurant service is good. Food is yummy but limited. The entire stay they were out of Fish, so no fish tacos, fish, or chips which was odd. Beach club service was ok, we had Otto and Antonio, and both were awesome and hardworking. Made sure we had everything we needed while lounging at the beach. They do run out of towels or things to cover the cabanas. Which again was odd. Cocktails were so watered down that we opted for wine. Every Saturday the resort has a party and there are over 100+ people that come to attend it and it gets crazy busy and loud. Music goes on thill 3am and who can hear it. There are SO MANY staff on this resort but surprisingly the service is VERY SLOW. Slow enough to test your patience. We went out of the resort to dine most of the time. You are 5min walk to some awesome restaurants on the strip with good drinks and food. The resort itself is beautiful, the jungle vibe, early morning Yoga classes, disconnecting form technology was perfect for the mental health. WIFI and network is very weak here. They have it but it is weak. Walking around this resort gives you a blissful feeling which I loved. The have gratitude trees everywhere, peacocks walking around, iguanas chilling but nothing too scary. Our room was closer to the restaurant etc so we didn't have to walk far to get to places. It is dark when walking around so can get a little scary. The resort amenities are worn out and need some attention so from the other reviewers, I agree for the price you pay to stay here you expect quality which this place lacks. If you don't like wildlife or to be disconnected this place is not for you. Not sure if I would return to this property, I liked it but it needs improvements.

So much potential but BIG miss! The rooms are beautiful and the grounds are well kept but the staff, service and every other aspect you'd expect are not that of a 2-3 star resort. Security at the front is such a pain and hassle they're extremely rude and difficult to come and go from the hotel. I came here for 3 nights on a last second trip with no room booked, upon arriving with 2 buddies I booked this place without reading reviews (my mistake). My buddies hadn't got rooms yet so we went to mine dropped our things and went out to see the town. At check in they put everyone's name on my room and gave my buddies bands. This place is extremely strict and won't allow any outside quests to enter. They should probably inform you upfront. My buddies ended getting their own places and had the bands on them so when I attempted to bring a new friend back they refused to allow them. I went to the front desk where I was threatened by the night shift and security. I simply didn't feel safe after this. I went and spoke to the morning manager and explained what happened and he assured me he would fix it and apologized but the security and door staff are so rude it's not a place I'd ever visit again. I requested a refund for my last nights stay and wanted to check out. They refused any refund so I left and lost the $6500 for the 3 nights. Highly recommend staying elsewhere. So many better options. Also the food at the hotel isn't good at all, service was extremely slow. Overall it's a big miss.

STAY AWAY - BEWARE! RODENTS,and INSECTS. Although Tulum is a beautiful destination, the accommodations at Papaya Playa Project makes you forget about that very quickly. Poor plumbing, linens with cigarette holes , cold showers, continuous service breakdowns, insects, and disorganized operations (see photos) makes PPP more of a camping experience rather than the "luxury" resort they advertise themselves as. BEWARE. Raccoons, yes RACCOONS and RODENTS, will enter your accommodations at night. Looking for an experience? Ever had a a RACCOON brush against your head while you sleep? Night Staff ACKNOWLEDGED " YES, this is a problem here, but they are not savage." Another added, "this is why I hate working nights, because I have to deal with this." Had to BEG to have another room made available for me (receipts to come!). Overall, NOT recommended for value. *******************************************Want more details? If you're looking to book here I really hope you find this review before you hit book! I paid for the $22,000 room. Their palapa villa. This place is a complete scam. Firstly the service is non existent. They are surprised at your arrival. Next the room was dirty. $22000 and a dirty room! Then, their butler completely left me on read on what's app. I was asking for service for over 4 hours and she completely ignored all my texts! She left me on read and when I confronted her she still didn't respond and then hours later had some sorry excuse. It took getting their "regional" manager here. And still no service. Also I paid for 4 bottles of champagne for the car ride. The guy showed up with no cups. Couldn't drink the thing then took off with my unopened bottles! It's been 6 hours and they still have not made good on that purchase. I'm not at check in asking for a copy of the terms and conditions I've signed and somehow they can't find it!! Please stay away. There are better value places that respect you and your time and have a beautiful place to stay. The pool was a joke!!! The ocean was unusable because of pollution and of course they didn't say that at the time of booking! They refunds to cancel my stay and refund my money. $22,000 lost and my group of 6 is upset!

My group and I went to the restaurant for dinner. Pros: The location is absolutely beautiful. You can hear the ocean waves crashing as you eat. Setting is very romantic with a candle lit dinner. Cons: Horrible Service like 1star worthy! ~30min to even have our order taken Then almost 2 hours to receive our food! The waiters are not attentive, we were only able to order drinks once (group of 6). On top of the terrible service they made a mistake on our order & tried to charge us for the extra order.

My husband and I stayed in Tulum with two other couples for a long weekend (3 nights). We had a wonderful time. I really felt like I was in the jungle, but comfortable at the same time. We arrived at PPP on Friday evening after a full day of tours. When we arrived, it was already dark. We proceeded to check in. The lobby is open air. There was one employee who checked us all in. It did not take too long. We ended up getting a nice upgrade to a room with a plunge pool on the roof. Another employee helped us to our room which was a short walk. He showed us how to use the safe, turned on all the lights, etc. Our room was pretty spacious. There was a large bed with several electric plus by the headboard- very convenient for charging phones. The lights were a little fun but the ceiling fan light helped brighten the room. There was a desk and a little "couch" at the end of the bed which looked out to the sliding glass doors/ patio. The bathroom is open and basically part of the room (other than the toilet which is separate). The shower was different but I liked it- very spacious. The hotel includes shampoo, body wash, lotion in larger containers (so you can't take the little bottles home with you). The room also included a fridge which was empty- plenty of room to put your own stuff in. The rooms don't have TVs but that was ok with me. I honestly don't know when I would have found the time to watch TV. The patio included a hammock. We never used it but would have been nice if we had the time. There are stairs leading up to the plunge pool, which is big enough for 4-6 people. We also had 2 lounge chairs up there. In addition to regular bath towels, we had 2 beach towels in the room to use for the plunge pool. I would recommend some type of mosquito repellant if you will be spending time outside. The hotel property itself is quite large. One of the other couples stayed in a little cottage oceanside (no plunge pool and a smaller room). It was nice to walk around and check everything out. They also have free bikes which some of us did use. We had brunch once morning at the restaurant. Food was very tasty (I got the chilaquiles with red sauce). We also spent time on the beach on Sunday. The beach club is free to hotel guests, but is open to all. If you want a beach cabana, I suggest you reserve as soon as you get there. The beach is beautiful. On Saturday nights, the hotel is very popular- people come to hang out at the beach club/ restaurant. There is a DJ and drinks are flowing. PPP is located about 2 miles from town (several nice restaurants). It was easy to get an Uber and nice that we were away from the action (noise). The property is also on a bike trail. We used the trail to run in the mornings. It felt very safe. Overall we had an amazing time at PPP. I would definitely recommend it and consider in the future if/when I return to Tulum.

This place is such a treat! The villas spoke nothing but tranquility, the resort was all about gratitude and inner peace. The music was great. We enjoyed the room service breakfast and restaurant never disappointed with food. We had a massage there as well, and the masseuse knew how to heal your soul! The 2 cons we had - No late night room service. And no restaurant/bar open at the resort after 10pm. So if you're hungry, better catch a cab and go into the town. Another con- They room is very limited with lights, so as a woman I struggled getting ready in candle light ambiance lol.

Mark I.

Please add the ZERO star option! This place is a scam! Dirty pool, false advertisement, insects inside the rooms, WORST SERVICE ON EARTH, very dim lights I can barely see myself. Also, no hot water! And guess what, all this for $25k for 4 nights. Please please make sure you read this and you don't book in here if you don't wanna ruin your vacation.

Papaya Playa Project! Saying it is just as fun as staying there. I was with a group of 30+ people who stayed there for a wedding weekend. And the staff definitely took care of everyone. The highlights of the stay... :: Beachside rooms. And by rooms, I mean these are palapa-style cabanas with AC, fans, patios with hammocks, full restrooms, some rooms with private pools and hot tubs. Our room with two double beds was $330/night. :: Onsite restaurants with excellent food and drinks! :: Onsite spa, water sport rentals :: Wifi at the bar (not in the room we stayed in) :: Free yoga every morning at the spa :: Beachside food/drink service, plenty of lounges and beds for sunbathing (and you can go topless and it's not a big deal) :: Monthly full moon parties. We were there for that which brought in hundreds of people. DJ, dancing, teepees, camp fires, face and body painting. Awesome experience. :: There's a baller suite - where the bride's family stayed. They had their own private pool with views of the ocean. A butler. And get this - KANYE stayed there. What what? The only downside was checking in. At least, the long wait. It was hot, we were eager to get into our swimsuits and dive into the water and the staff took more than an hour to get our bags into the room.

I was so happy with our stay! We stayed 9 nights and they were so amazing. The atmosphere is so beautiful. The staff is extremely friendly and the pool came in handy for my kids. Once they got tired of the ocean they still had plenty of energy to swim in the pools that were available. Our stay was very quiet and tranquil considering there is a DJ on the premises but we heard absolutely nothing. The food was amazing as well! Oh And very very secure ! No one can come in or out without checking in to the main gate that is closed at all times !

I love this place! It's a jungle oasis right on the ocean. It is a place to be healthy and heal and go inward. They have yoga Oceanside in the morning and breath work at night. Moon and star gazing events, tapas and wine night, and a wild party Saturday make this a destination all its own. The service is impeccable and the rooms are breath-taking. I loved the juices and detox shots, as well as the "alco-Health" drinks. I felt cared for and safe every moment, including when I left the property because they would send me in a reputable car and ask the driver where he was taking me for their records. I came here to rediscover myself and it has happened!

The hotel is really nice, I think one of the best in that area! Pool, beach club, restaurant, everything is super nice. We arrived on Saturday and there was an amazing party! However, We were supposted to stay 4 nights at PPP in the jungle bungalow. The room is really little and really "jungle" style. We slept in the first night, but then we had to ask for a room upgrade! Too many bugs and spiders. I totally understand the "kind of experience", but I personally can't sleep or leave my clothes into a place full of insects! The upgrade costed a lot.. but the second room (called casita), was amazing and no bugs inside! We paid without complaining but the staff hasn't been nice with us. They treat us like "stupids" because I was afraid about insects! Respect for the clients is the only must have, in my opinion!

Outside our suite . Ocean views for days

We were given the information about the property and all the amenities as well as given a tour and then shown to our room, typically when you first arrive, they perform a greeting cleanse to, clear energy, set your vibe and give you a little taste of the beautiful Mayan cultural traditions. Unfortunately, when we were shown over to the location where they perform the energy cleanse no one was there so they said we'd have to come back the next day which never ended up happening. Finally, moments before we were checking out we asked if it was possible just to see what the experience was like before we left. That part was actually really good, especially after our experience staying here for six days, which will make sense by the end of this review. When we checked in, it was already dark out but the design and lighting as well as the bio inspired architecture which fuses art in nature was pretty cool to see. They only give you one key for your room for some odd reason, it was a little inconvenient because it meant that me and my wife had to be together at all moments and couldn't explore or do services separately without the hassle of having to meet up to share the key, or the other option is to go walk all the way to the front desk, which, although the walk is beautiful, the design of the floor is made out of a bunch of branches for the walkway and is very difficult to navigate, especially at night so walking turned out to be more of a hassle, but that's just me being nit-picky. The other option is you can reach out to your concierge and then they can send someone which means you're waiting sometimes 5 to 10 minutes, again very small minor inconveniences but nonetheless adds up when staying there for six days. It definitely has an effect on the overall appeal and serenity that one would expect from a place like this. The room itself had two very small shelf like closets definitely not enough hangers or space to accommodate both of our very limited wardrobe that we brought. I had to put 2 to 3 shirts on one hanger and hang the pants inside and that's literally all I brought other than T-shirts and socks and underwear and one pair of nice shoes I literally packed very minimal and still didn't have enough space... again very small inconvenience but nonetheless 20 different small inconveniences all fused together to make one kind of annoying overall experience. Now I can say that I have mixed feelings about the minimal electricity and necessity to use tea candles for our lighting, but I respect the sustainability aspect of it and it did make very nice environment and mood. The only downside is they tell you that you don't blow the candles out and you can leave them on overnight and we had one explode right next to our heads and over all of our bathroom essentials. The shower is right in the middle there's no protection for water so it gets all over the floor, I nearly slipped a few times because of it. Probably sounds nit picky, but these are things I believe make it or break it for places like this. We experienced some type of mishap daily. We ordered hot water and they brought a dirty used coffee pot. They left the dirty brush in the toilet area. Didn't pick it up until the following day. Asked us if we could place it outside the door. Took forever to bring blankets. They got maybe 8/10 requests wrong and charged us for some and denied that, so wasn't able to get a refund. wasn't much, but principally speaking it's horrible feeling in the midst of many things going wrong. Atmosphere - 90% (small weird sewage smell almost everywhere except the room) Vibe - 80% Cost - 75% should be more enjoyable for the price imo... i dont mind paying extra for experience when its on point Food - 60% (first meal, room-service, was incredible {and cost matched that} every other meal on property lacked in all ways except the sushi which we enjoyed as a snack before going to dinner off site. Really over priced in general but the experience and design makes it palatable. Service - 2 stars overall (except for our concierge who had to deal with her associates lack of professionalism and incredible number of mistakes made each day). Location/architecture,view - 100 (If it wasn't for the sound of the ocean slapping the rocks below our balcony and the sound of the waves soothing us at night, waking up to the most amazing view from bed facing the ocean and the sunrise and also the sunsets each night with a great breeze and insane temperatures than this trip would probably have been all bad. My suggestion. Book 1-2 nights for the location and view then find a better spot elsewhere.

Although I found the resort to be beautiful, the customer service was far below the level I expect…read morefrom a hotel of this price range (I paid $600+ for ocean front room/night). There are no concierge reliably onsite. You are given a WhatsApp number to text and sometimes they can be very slow to respond. First issue I ran into was the concierge's lack of punctuality and poor communication regarding bike rentals. She promised a bike at 8am but 15 mins before the agreed upon time texted me that she could not follow through. I agreed to wait until 10 but was delayed a second time until 11. The second delay was not even communicated to me without my prompting. See chat screenshots. The main issue was my balcony was flooded by careless guests upstairs who left their outdoor tub running (see pic). I was splashed and had to change. My phone also got wet and I could not charge it for the rest of the night until it dried. I could have had other valuables such as electronics out that could have been irreparably damaged and I could not use either loungers, which were soaking wet for the rest of the day/night. The water ran for 10 mins before hotel staff could stop it. No one came to clean my balcony. However, most disappointing was the concierge's refusal to take accountability for the incident (again, see screenshots). I would have been happy with a complementary margarita but instead was completely dismissed. I asked to speak to a manager on site and was told there were none. I asked for an email address or phone number and was given only the reservation email address. I detailed my experience in an email and waited 2 weeks before righting this review. No one replied. It is my experience that guests' conduct at the hotel is within the control and part of the hotel's responsibility and that top tier hospitality establishments, which I had assumed Azulik to be, value customer satisfaction and have accountability. I was sadly wrong.

There is the Sargassum seaweed problem on the beach but this is not fault of the hotel and the few hotels on the same beach shared with Calaluna work everyday to clear the seaweed for the guests but it builds up quickly. Sergio and his colleagues are very courteous and professional. The music was chill. Excellent vibes. Had to come back and amend the post for we returned to try their breakfast. Sergio remembered our names and sat us right away. We tried the pancake plate which came with a side of ice cream. Tasted very natural and coconut flavored. Mind you I don't eat ice cream. This one is a must try. I got huevos rancheros and my wife got huevos con papas. Our party also got the enchiladas breakfast. Everyone really enjoyed their meal. Check out the pics.

First night we sweat all night and couldn't sleep. The next day they came and "fixed" it. The cleaning lady even said our room was so hot and the other rooms are supper cold. I'm in the room now, day 2 and we are SWEATING just sitting down at 7pm. We asked again and the manager said the air was fixed. It isn't. We asked if we could be moved to a different room, he said no it's sold out. We asked if we could check out and get our money back, he said no refunds. So basically, screw us! His attitude was awful!!! I would also like to mention the room wasn't clean upon arrival. It looked tidy, but the shower had a lot of sand and the coffee cups had leftover sugar and coffee in them which means they didn't clean the fridge area at all!!! Terrible resort, avoid it at all costs. I travel a lot and this is the worst place I have ever stayed.

Every day, there was a free breakfast (you could pick from french toast and fruit or a rice 'n beans and fruit thing) which was nice. The food wasn't the most exciting, but it was filling. Across the street from them, there's an adorable taco place (sweet potato tacos) that did 2 for 1 drinks happy hour for five hours a day, and I got enormous mojitos, larger than my face for around $3 each. At Punta Piedra, my room was cleaned daily, with new towels, and they had a nice bowl of water by my door for me to wash off my sandy feet. The owner of the place was really helpful in explaining the taxi/bus system and in calling me cabs (we'd been ripped off at the airport and were nervous) and I liked having someone I could trust. I locked my stuff in the safe every night and in the day when we went out (two MacBooks, an iPad, passports) and nothing was stolen. The safe didn't feel very secure -- the lock was kind of iffy, but the room did, and as we had a beach view, and a private building, it would have been hard for a stranger to rob us. The sea was gorgeous and blue, but had some seaweed in it, as we'd expected. However: there's a way around this. Walk up or down the beach (you can get to this by climbing over the rocks at the side, or a looooong walk via road) and stretches of the beaches there (not all, but some) were seaweed free; the tide does what it wants, right? I swam and paddled and had a lovely time. BRING SUNCREAM. It gets hot. Would love to go back.

Located right on the coast, Habitas is a remarkable example of natural preservation and a quintessential way to experience Tulum the way it's supposed to be. This private jungle oasis is easily approachable from the main road, with staff directing guests where to park, which is along the street. The tents are very comfortable and the AC was sufficient despite intense summer heat. All the amenities are there. One of the best things is that there are no problems with bugs inside the tent as long as you are careful in keeping the doctor closed. Evenings are filled with noises of nature, including coati that love to frequent the roof of the tent and patio. There is pure magic to that, being surrounded not just by jungle plants, but animals too. Yet, it is something to keep in mind for some guests: do not expect a Marriott or a Hilton. This is a very real nature hotel. The restaurant is amazing and the design is very slick. Staff are attentive and helpful at all times. There is a nice little bar as well. Prices are high, but reasonable for Tulum relative to other hotels. The main area that was a little disappointing was the cleanliness of the pool. The water was greasy and borderline murky looking. Thus, this was the only real downside of the property. The pool is tiny as well. The hotel does allow outside guests to pay money and visit, so that does not help with keeping the pool clean and is the only reason I cannot give 5 stars. The beach, while swimmable, was loaded up with seaweed in early summer. The staff did an amazing job trying to clean up the seaweed, but it felt like an impossible task as they worked most of the day, yet more seaweed kept coming. As a whole, a remarkable property that I can recommend with no hesitation.

While visiting Playa del Carmen, we decided to make a 2-night side trip to nearby Tulum and were…read morestunned by how expensive hotels were in the area. I did some searching on a travel app and up popped La Conchita at a very reasonable price. And while the reviews were great, I still wasn't sure what to expect since this place was 1/3 the price of other nearby hotels. Well, all I can say is: wow. This adorable, hyperlocal little mini resort is everything we were looking for. It features a cluster of grass-roofed cabanas surrounding a lush, tropical courtyard filled with white Caribbean sand. Every room has an outdoor seating area (some larger than others) so you can enjoy the ocean - which is only steps away as La Conchita is located right on the beach. It was so amazing to be lulled asleep every night by the loud, crashing waves. The property is no frills - there's no on-site spa, bar, or restaurant. But there's a beach club literally right next door which you can order from while enjoying La Conchita's private (and complimentary to guests) palapas and beach mattresses. There are also massages available in the beach area for a reasonable price - we saw many people partaking of them while we were there. Our room itself was big, bright, and comfortable. The bed was luxurious, the bathroom small-but-clean; and the room contained all the basic amenities we could need for our short visit: a small fridge to keep the beers cold, and a Nespresso machine for morning coffee. Our unit (#5) faced the beach directly, and we spent lots of time on our patio, watching the waves crash and the palm trees blow in the breeze. There are also several restaurants and bars lining the street, all within walking distance. Our favorite was Potheads, and elevated coffee shop with delicious food (and espresso, of course). We also dined at the tapas bar next door and it was delicious. They also offer a 10% discount to La Conchita guests for breakfast and dinner. When we left La Conchita we both agreed we can't wait to go back here on our next trip to the area!
