Pineapple Prawm Fried Rice
Manda J.

Ordered a lunch-time pickup of Pineapple and Shrimp Fried Rice; was ready in 10 minutes! Overall it was good but strangely the pineapple had no flavor or sweetness whatsoever; hopefully just a bad batch of pineapples. There were other veggies as well (peas, baby corn, green onion, etc) and it was a well-balanced fried rice. 4/5 for now because of the lackluster pineapple,. the service I received was kind and I'll be back!

Tai Pho

My friend and I were craving pho so we came here and it hit the spot! The music and service were good. Very nice especially because it was raining outside.

Vegetarian spring rolls.

After we started eating we found a harmless bug on our plate. The restaurant looked very clean overall. Earwigs exist in a lot of different places. My issue is simply this, once you discover one bug, there are usually more violations hanging out. Having worked in a kitchen, I know what it takes to keep it clean. One little bug on a plate of spring rolls, we're not shook! However, the food was nothing amazing. This place is super average. Having traveled the world, dining in major cities all over this planet, I know what happens behind that kitchen door isn't always something you want to see. I've seen mice running through deli counters, dead fruit flies in soy sauce, dogs standing on butcher tables in night markets chewing on carcasses. Flies surrounding piles of ground beef.

We had a great meal yesterday. I had the Mongolian beef chow mein and my friend had the Hunan fish and we had the cream cheese Rangoon appetizers. Everything was outstanding and the portions were excellent. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to try everything on the menu.

Soft Mapo Tofu $13.50

Rainy day Saturday and looking for a spot close by. We scanned Papa's Kitchen's menu in the window and they had lunch specials until 4pm. The server was sweet and brought menus and water immediately. We settled on Mapo Tofu, Sweet & Sour Pork and fresh Vietnamese Grilled Pork Rolls. Portions were generous though the Mapo Tofu lacked heat as promised by the chili pepper next to its listing. If you order it, ask if they can add Szechuan peppercorns. The other dishes were solid, we split family style and I called dibs on the second to last cold pork roll that had fresh pea sprouts poking out of the roll, delicious. The restaurant was clean with a large dining room including a counter if you want to slurp your pho and look out at Haight Street. I would definitely return or do take out from this spot.

Seafood Combo Pan Fried Noodles
Julian C.

Pretty standard fare Chinese place with reasonable prices and big portions. Seafood combo pan fried noodles were actually pretty good. I don't get this dish often but the sauce was pretty flavorful and it came with lots of seafood (fish, scallops, shrimp, squid) and veg (bok choy, snow peas, carrots, mushrooms) Sweet and sour pork was disappointing. The sauce was pretty good but the pork itself was really overfried and to the point of being dry / stringy. I'd still go back to try different items and it isn't a place that breaks the bank.

Beef chow fun
Vince L.

Beef chow fun was well made and delicious. Service was great considering there is one woman doing the waiting, serving, cashiering and busing of tables! Not sure if they have AC but it is very hot in here!

It's a family owned restaurant, and I had high expectations. We ordered a lot of things, and I have mixed feelings. My favorite is absolutely the fried rice. There is a scent to it that cannot be replicated at home. The big wok in a restaurant can only achieve it. The fried chicken wings are good as well. The second tier is orange chicken and the spring rolls. My least favorite is the lemongrass garlic noddles and the hunan fish filet. There is no garlic nor Hunan flavors. They all kinda taste the same at the end. Would I come back? Probably not. There are plenty of places in the haughty.

Soft Mapo Tofu
YooJin Y.

A little cute mom and pop serving Vietnamese and Chinese food. I got the Mapo tofu and it was all right. It has a spicy sign right next to it on the menu however it was not spicy at all, like at all. Should not really be called mapo tofu if it's not spicy. The inside is clean and spacious, and the service is friendly and very nice. However, I will not be back.

Lady with poufy bob put in the wrong order. We ordered Vietnamese Style Fried Egg Rolls but she brought out Vegetable Egg Rolls.

Once you are find a seat, you can order from the touch screen ordering The menu is simple , first you can choose hot or cold soba, and for tenzaru and tenkake set you choose either tempura or kaikage. There is also other lr soba choices. For small bites it has chicken tenders, braised pork, and and mochi for dessert. We ordered tenzaru and tenkske with shrimp kaikage. We also ordered kakesoba, chicken tender and mochi. Both cold and hot soba are unique and yummy. I like soba texture and yhe broth cold and hot are yummy. The kaikage is unique as it is a bit chewy. The chicken tender is ok. Mochi is yummy. Looks like one of the worker is the owner and he was friendly. Overall it was a good lunch. You have to be patient if you want to have a meal here. I was by myself and wanted to have a quick eat. This place has unique ramen so I decided to come again (also SF/bay area only in the US). Since I was alone, I got to skip the line and only waited 15 minutes. The ramen was great. I would love to come again and try new one. Their duck chashu is SO GOOD. A little salty but works great as a whole. I respect the kitchen and servers because it's so busy and they are very efficient.

We were a large group of 15, including several kids, and we completely understand that the restaurant is small and accommodating a group our size can be challenging. We waited in line for almost an hour with around 6 children. During the wait, a staff member named Sue came outside, asked how many people were in our group, and handed us menus. Since it was our first visit, we were naturally asking questions and trying to understand the menu. Unfortunately, throughout the interaction, her body language and expressions felt impatient and unwelcoming. There was visible frustration and eye-rolling, which made us feel uncomfortable rather than welcomed. Even after we were seated, the experience continued to feel tense. One of the toddlers in our group started crying briefly -- something fairly common with young children -- and we were told to "keep it low out of respect." While we absolutely respect other diners, the way it was communicated felt lacking in empathy, especially on a busy Mother's Day with families dining out. A small gesture of kindness or understanding could have gone a long way. Instead, my friend felt compelled to take the child outside, which was disappointing. Additionally, after being seated, we had to remind the staff multiple times to come take our orders. What makes this especially unfortunate is that the ramen itself was truly delicious and lived up to the hype. The food was excellent, which is why this experience was so disappointing overall. I hope management takes this feedback seriously because customer service and hospitality matter just as much as the food experience. Unfortunately, this was not the ideal way to end our Mother's Day celebration.

If you're not able to squeeze into the first wave, the wait is upwards of 2 hours! FOOD: We ordered one galbi jim with extra noodles and rice cakes and a separate garlic noodles for a party of 5. While we initially thought we could finish two galbi jims, our server cautioned us against it, referencing the healthy portion size. We were glad we took her advice because everyone was stuffed by the end of our meal. Their galbi jim was flavorful, with extremely tender beef and chewy rice cakes. We ordered the lowest level of spiciness and while there was still a kick, it was extremely manageable. Typically what I saw was they do waves of seating and ordering so if you aren't there right at open/when they fill up, plan to write your name down and grab a drink nearby. Once we got seated, they were pretty prompt to give us utensils, napkins, cups, and water. The two of us shared the Braise Beef Galbi Stew. It's more than enough for 2 people to go home in food comas (with some food remaining) and for 3 to be sufficiently full. If you have big eaters, order an app alongside if you have 3 people. The Galbi stew was exceptional. I liked that they had various levels of spiciness. We went with spicy and it had a nice kick that elevated the dish for me. The beef was very tender and flavorful and the veggies and rice cakes soaked up all the juices. And the cheese was so stretchy! I'd actually rank this place slightly above Daeho given the shorter wait, the quality, and the price. I'll be back for sure.
