Alison did my blessing way last June at my house. I am a strong person and have a hard time giving in to self care but I felt that i could trust Alison from the moment I met her. A friend told me about her and even though I don't normally do these things, I knew when I met her that she had the right personality and I could let it all go and depend on her. Alison was wonderful at getting my close friends together and telling them what to do so that it was all a wonderful surprise to me. All I had to do was show up and accept the overflowing love from the women around me. There were tears and so many opportunities for my close friends and family to express their support and encouragement. Before the event, she prepared my home and made sure I didn't feel like I was hosting a party. She took all of the stress off of me! She also set the tone for the guests so that they did not bring any negative energy or the usual baggage into the sacred space- something I could never do so openly with even my best friends! That is the beauty of having a host or coordinator! She is there to give everyone permission to treat the blessing way as the sacred rite of passage it is meant to be. A blessing way is a very powerful way to bring yourself to the point of opening your heart to the new life you are bringing into the world. Before all the care you will give to the new baby you are actually asking for the blessing of women in your life and they are so willing to give it! Asking for a blessing way coordinator is not only easy, but it gives a structure to the day and helps guide your loved ones through it. Alison was really gifted with directing the women so they could pile on the blessings! She kept the ball rolling and had activities for each of the women so that they were given permission to play a part and not just "wing it" as so many blessing ways can be. This ceremony is so much more than a traditional shower in that it allows the participants to focus on the woman, her body, her strengths and her need for support. It was not a series of games, or entertainment, this was a ritual, a meditation, a serious and loving event. After it was over, I noticed that I was actually ready to give birth, it changed my perspective and helped me feel stronger, I could have a sacred space in my home and felt empowered to keep that energy present for the months following when everyone was trying to visit. I had never done Reiki before, so was a bit nervous. However from the second Ali walked in, she was so reassuring, calming, explained everything and reinforced how much reiki is an act of love and nothing bad could come of it. I get massages regulary and have done acupuncture, and somehow by the end of this treatment I felt like I emerged from a spa massage meets a therapy session meets a digital detox. I was rejuvenated, fresh and light, and my shoulders were lower (away from my ears) and relaxed more than they have been in a long time. I barely told Ali anything, and yet she picked up on such deep aspects of myself, calling them out. We had a 30 min session afterwards reflecting on the experience, and what she felt was exactly what I had felt inside! without even saying a word, she was able to tap into deep-rooted and very real intimate parts of myself. I'm a little skeptical of these types of healing services but one can not argue with results. I had an eye pealing, brain busting, migraine and after taking ibuprofen (and doing everything else I could think of to no avail) I called on Ali who gave me an in-home treatment. She performed her treatment and I was still feeling skeptical as she layed rocks under and on my head. Finally, laying a pretty big stone on my chest she asked me to lay my hands on the big stone. Almost instantly I could feel energy transferring from me to the big stone as the smaller ones provided a calm. Within a short time my migraine was completely gone...completely!
