The larger "club" space was not open, so we grabbed a table in the bar portion, which is separated by a door. Same place, but different vibes for sure! The bar area was small and quaint, and gave off classic Irish pub vibes more than gay bar, and we liked that energy, especially for a Tuesday afternoon! We grabbed a couple of pints followed by cocktails, and spent close to an hour hanging out and chatting with each other and a few local patrons. The bar itself stayed full, but the surrounding tables were a bit transient with small and larger groups coming through for a drink. The bartender was okay. Hard pressed to refer to him as "mean" or "rude", but he also wasn't super friendly. Cocktail was good and the pint was tasty. Overall, really enjoyed The George and have a deep appreciation for their presence in Dublin! Looking forward to going back and checking out the nightlife this place has to offer!

Everyone is entitled to their views, but when a bar prioritizes political theater over basic hospitality, it alienates customers who just want decent service and a comfortable, welcoming environment. Between the attitude, the prices, and the preachy vibe, there are plenty of better places to spend your money.

I ended up coming back two more times during my stay. Each time I came in, there was a nice red-headed gentleman behind the bar. We got to chatting a little bit and he filled me in the neighborhood, which was very nice. I found the prices to be reasonable, but I am not very familiar with the Euro exchange rate. It's not healthy. In Nealon's on this beautiful sunny day I waited patiently whilst the young bartender coaxed my drink to life. I listened to the banter. I got dirty looks when I took out my fancy phone to check my e-mails. I admonished myself for bringing the artificial rush into the sanctuary of the natural pace. This modern world makes silence between thoughts or words embarrassing and in someway a poor reflection on your social skills... You could be updating your status but instead you should be looking at the ironed in laughter marks of the auld man to your left chatting to his friend and learn. That to me is what being Irish is. It's so much more than a nationality. It's a state of mind. To be Irish to me is remember that precious time with friends, family, nature and more importantly yourself. In Nealon's you get the chance to sit and be still and reflect on your thoughts. So to that I say - happy belated St. Patricks day to you all and remember to slow down.

The salad was perfectly tossed with the Caesar dressing which wasn't disagreeably heavy as some can be. It included plenty of seasoned croutons and parmesan shavings. It was on the menu as Chicken Caesar Salad but I ordered it without chicken, thinking that the plain was also available and for a smaller price. It turned out to the be the same price. My mistake, or theirs? Not sure but no matter. To drink I had a Rosé Prosecco which was nicely bubbly. Sometimes sparkling wines by the glass can be flat, but not here. The room was attractive, with neutral tones and brick, and decorated with artwork and framed photos. Service was fast but not rushed, so we were able to relax for a bit, have a great lunch, and have plenty of time left in the day to continue our exploration of Dublin City Centre. The "Good Food Ireland" designation means that Pacino's has been certified as using local, sustainable ingredients. I like that. The decor is a mish mash of traditional Irish pub stuff (sign posts and car reg plates) to Rock Bar (Thin Lizzy posters) to Dive Bar (darkly lit with fairy lights). They had a mixed selection of mainstream and micro brewery beer. No craft cider though. But they have toasties! The look and smell delicious. Full after an earlier meal, we didn't order any in this occasion. But next time... Staff were great, served with a welcoming smile. There was plenty of banter between one batman and the regulars. I'll definitely be back, if only for the funny graffiti in the ladies.

We stopped in around 4:30 pm, which turned out to be a perfect time to visit. There were other patrons enjoying drinks and food, but the atmosphere was calm and relaxed rather than loud or rowdy. It felt like the kind of place where locals drop in for a quiet pint on their way home from work before the evening crowd arrives. The staff were excellent--friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good (we failed to take photos because we were too busy enjoying it). As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see the Impossible burger front and center on their menu; it was deliciously prepared with guacamole on a brioche bun, and not an afterthought on the menu. My companions both chose the Irish Beef Burger, and said it was excellent. One thing to know: this is a traditional Victorian pub, so cocktails aren't really part of the program. Expect beer, wine, or spirits rather than mixed drinks. In a place like this, that actually feels exactly right. Other pubs do serve mixed drinks. They are situated in the base of a sister restaurant, so from the main entrance the only give away is the neon "shhh" sign that sits over the stairway. Once at the base of the stairs an unassuming bookcase/shelf appears. This honestly got us, as we had no clue this was the entrance at first. We wandered around and into the bathrooms expecting some cool bathroom stall entrance. It wasn't until someone came out from behind the bookcase that we figured it out! We did let the "door" close and played with the art on the wall, including the bronze pig head, which turned out to be the hidden lever! Legit already wowed before entering! Upon entry, you are legit transported into a small speakeasy with a few high tops, a cozy bar and a small dining room beyond the second archway. The walls are stone, the lighting is dim and moody, the woods are heavy, and the vibes are immaculate! We sampled a few house-made cocktails, got an appetizer and a few main dishes. Spent a total of close to 2 hours, which is standard and actually timed. Which makes sense and I like, it keeps things moving, on time and allows plenty of time to soak it all in! The Jolly Roger and Espresso Martini were my cocktails for the night. There was a clear theme with both, as stout and espresso were highlights in both. For the app, we went with the fritto misto, which is a combination of fried cheese and veggies. Our mains were both pasta dishes. They were light and simple, yet complex and robust.
