Personally I have found that Dr. Samrao does not respect your privacy rights. As your doctor you should be able to discuss your medical conditions openly and candidly and it should be between you and the doctor (only). Unfortunately this is not the case. I Medical (mis) diagnosis and treatments have often been prescribed for conditions I don't have and not prescribed for medical conditions I did have. As such I, as the patient, have suffered the consequences--some have taken weeks to recover from and most recently months. A simple requested X-ray would have sent me back to work several months ago. Obtain copies of all your records when you go and review them very carefully. You will be months (maybe even years) attempting to correct errors. His quackery may have cost me my job. Also, don't expect him to inform you of any possible side effects of prescriptions. Either ask or READ the paperwork with the medications. I have gone to him for 10 years. It is only in the past 3 or 4 that I have noticed the decline in the care I receive--but then in Chowchilla/Madera what do you have to compare it to? If you are a "frequent flyer" you will like him.

    When i first met my husband 4 years ago he was being seen by Dr. Nassar through his parent's…read moreinsurance. Dr. Nassar was extremely nice and helpful and my husband loved him. My in laws are still seen by him and love him. My husband recently got a new job, the same job his father has actually so we KNOW the insurance covers Dr. Nassar's office. I called about 2 weeks ago and asked how to become a new patient. I was told I needed to come in and pick up new patient paperwork to fill out. (NOTE: At this time - I was NOT told that they aren't accepting new patients.) So I made a special trip to his office (I don't live in Madera) to pick up this paperwork. When getting the paperwork I was told they won't be accepting patients until July or August. BUT they WERE accepting patients. I turned back in my paperwork the next day and they said I will be contacted around the end of July or August to make an appointment once they are accepting new patients. Now two days later I get a phone call from his staff stating that "Dr. Nassar went over the new patients paperwork last night and didn't approve you or your husband." I asked Why? She couldn't tell me. She said it's the doctor's decision. At this point I feel it is discriminating for him to just look at our paperwork and decide he doesn't want to treat us. They cannot provide me with a reason, and even though their rudeness made me extremely furious, I was biting my tongue and genuinely just trying to get an answer: WHY? I asked the woman on the phone if I could speak to her supervisor or someone above her. The woman who then came on the phone I was SHOCKED by her lack of professionalism. She literally REFUSED to let me give my side of the story. Her reasoning was that they are accepting NO new patients, but if that were the case why didn't they tell me the 2 other opportunities they had to tell me? She continued to cut me off and ended up hanging up on me. As someone who struggles with Anxiety and Depression, and who is also in early stages of recovery, I am so shocked that someone like that is allowed to talk to patients. Her reactions were not okay and the staff completely emotionally defeated me today. I bit my tongue the whole time and tried to calmly explain my feelings, but again she would not let me. She had no reason to hang up, I really just feel discriminated against because of my mental health issues. I feel they looked at my paper and turned me away for that reason. I hope the staff never makes anyone feel this way again, because I feel awful.

    I gave this place one star, because zero stars are not an option. I was referred here by my regular…read moredoctor, as part of the Camarena health network. September 3rd, I had a consultation to have my tubes tied, and we set an appointment for September 27th. I needed to reschedule the procedure, and called for a solid week, trying to do so (559/450-2300, which was the number on my paperwork). Every time I called (more than a dozen times) I would follow the automated system directions and end up on hold. I held for more than a half hour, multiple times. No one ever answered the phone, and it never transitioned to an option to leave a message. I finally sent them a fax on the morning of September 26th, telling them I wouldn't be there. I was afraid the doctor would prep for a surgery I wasn't there to have, and my insurance (and I) would get billed. Finally, that afternoon, a nurse called me to give me instructions, and I told her I'd been trying to reschedule the surgery all week. She apologized, and said she'd tell the scheduling staff. The following week, they called me to schedule me for a mammogram my doctor referred me for. I set the appointment for Oct. 8th, and asked about rescheduling my tubal ligation. The scheduling girl told me I'd have to come in for a consultation, first, and then they'd schedule me for the procedure. I told her I'd already had a consultation with Dr. Nassar, and gave her the date. She insisted I needed a new consultation. I relented, basically because I had no choice. Then she scheduled it for the day after the mammogram, Oct. 9th. I asked about combining the appointments, and she said she was sorry, but they couldn't. So I was looking at taking off work two days in a row, for appointments that should have been combined, one of which (the consultation) I was pretty sure I didn't need. The day of the mammogram came. The previous Friday, I'd received a call to confirm the mammogram. I was given instructions not to wear deodorant or lotion, etc. I showed up for the mammogram, and I was informed I was scheduled for a breast exam, not a mammogram. This was despite the fact that I'd had a breast exam six weeks earlier, in conjunction with my annual Pap smear. I protested; I KNOW I scheduled a mammogram. I didn't need a second breast exam, and I didn't need a referral from my regular doctor to have one, and I didn't need the special instructions I'd received if it was a breast exam and not a mammogram. The staff there insisted, said I had to have a breast exam, before I could get referred for a mammogram. I'D ALREADY BEEN REFERRED FOR A MAMMOGRAM! I DIDN'T NEED ANOTHER BREAST EXAM FOR ANOTHER REFERRAL FOR THE SAME MAMMOGRAM. But, again feeling I had no choice, I relented. And I underwent another breast exam. And now, I have to ask: If they thought they were scheduling me for a breast exam, why couldn't the breast exam and surgery consultation have been combined? I get that a mammogram requires special personnel running special equipment. But could no one in the building do a simple manual breast exam, in conjunction with the surgery consultation? So then, on October 9th, when I was supposed to go for my second consult for the tubal ligation, I got stuck at work. I was running late, and began calling as soon as I left my office (559/674-0917, the number on my appointment card), about 20 minutes before I was supposed to be there. I sat on hold until 12 minutes after I was supposed to be there. I was 3 minutes away from their office, when the girl who finally answered the phone told me I was too late and would need to reschedule, because they consider you a no show after 10 minutes. I told her I'd been trying to get ahold of them for over 30 minutes, well before that cutoff I'd never heard of. She replied that patients are supposed to be there 15 minutes early to check in, anyway. Excuse me? Your logic is that if I'm on time, I'm 15 minutes late? And where/how is that explanation (or the 10 minute cutoff rule) communicated to patients? Then she had the nerve to try to reschedule me! I WOULD DIE BEFORE EVER WILLINGLY GOING THERE AGAIN! I told her I would not be rescheduling, and hung up the phone. So that's it. You'll have a heck of a time getting them to answer the phone. They'll make you take appointments you don't need (like a second consult for the same surgery, and a second breast exam, for one mammogram) as prerequisites for the ones you do need. They won't combine appointments, to help the patients. They bait-and-switch an appointment you do need, with one you don't. They have a 10 minute late rule they don't tell you about, until after they made you sit on hold, from well before your appointment, until JUST after it's "too late" to let you keep your appointment. And FYI, if you're on time, you're 15 minutes late, anyway. Atrocious. Thank God I'm relatively heathy. I couldn't imagine being truly sick, and trying to rely on these people.
