I am Dutch - when in Netherlands I eat 2 things - Broodje Kroket & Farmer Pancakes. Coming across…read morethis Pancake House was a godsend! - I was so much craving one that as soon as I sat down I ordered what I thought is something every Pancake restaurant in the Netherlands (should) have on the menu. - An full savoury Farmers Pancake (Boeren Pannekoek).
I asked for the dark grained beer batter with bacon (spek), mushrooms, onions, cheese and parsley - *yum* - however I was told I couldn't. So I resorted to the menu - where I found all separate ingredients, but not all 4 together - so in my view it should have been possible. (as I had these combined ingredients in many different pancake houses in NL before I KNOW it can be done) - OK I choose instead for bacon, onions & mushrooms and added some grated cheese ( note that what was missing was only the parsley from my original request) - the sauce I normally use with this - 'shashlik' - was not available and I had to settle for curry-ketchup (not at all similar - whatever they said!) - I may have been a difficult customer, but I feel they should've known their own menu a bit better instead of just saying 'no'.
The place is 'rustic' and very child friendly - colouring placemats and highchairs.
They serve a small selection of beers and wine and a large selection of soft drinks and especially Chocomel! - made me feel like a child again - pancakes and a chocolate drink.
The furniture is simple and again very child friendly, the seats are a bit uncomfortable - hard wooden chairs. I used my scarf to help me out.
It was an ok experience put I know better place to really have liked this visit.
