The front desk staff at the hotel explained Recco and the surrounding region is well known for foccacia bread baking, which had me totally sold at that point! After a beautiful bus ride through the mountains of the Italian riveria, the bus drops you off in the middle of Recco. Sadly the city was mostly closed due to Church, but we still managed to walk around and find them gem being Tossini Fratelli.
I could smell it from a few blocks away and was already very hungry, so bread in general sounded wonderful at the time. Little did I know I was about to walk into a wonderland of focaccia and various other breads being freshly baked right in front of you! Most of the staff spoke Italian, which made it a little tough, but I was able to get by with the little Italian I knew and the assistance of Google Translator. I ended up getting about four or five different kinds of focaccia bread, some stuff with herbs, some stuffed with cheeses, and some just plain olive oil and herbs on top. Let me tell you, either I was the hungriest person at the time or this was the best focaccia I have had in a long time, I am going with the latter in this case. Warm, soft, super tasty, and best of all very affordable.
It's a shame I had limited time in the area, as I would've loved to re visit this bakery two to three times a day! If you are anywhere near Recco, please take the time and seek this bakery out, as it will not disappoint.
