I smelled mold, cleaned my bathroom and panicked.My neighborhoods maintenance team recommended Panhandle. They were so nice and accommodating with scheduling. An inspector came out and tested areas for moisture, asked questions, looked at the entire exhaust system. He was great, and while he could have recommended a more expensive cleaning and ceiling replacement, advised in this case its surface mold. Continue cleaning and venting. Scrape and repaint with antimicrobial paint meant for bathrooms. So why did I panic? An identical home down the street just had a ceiling collapse and I've been watching a fleet of Panhandle vehicles come and empty the home of belongings!! I'm so relieved and very happy with their friendly professional patient service!! read more

tl;dr: AVOID unless you have no other options. It took over a year to have damage repair fully completed, including referring me to a suspicious law firm for collections DESPITE Panhandle repeatedly failing to send me an invoice as requested. See my story below... Panhandle did my emergency board up after a car drove into the side of my house. After speaking with one of their General Managers further, I decided to use them to complete the repairs of interior and exterior damage. The work was good when they showed up, but over the months-long project I do not think there were 5 straight days of work without having the workers pulled away to another emergency project. Even though the accident occurred in August 2020, the work did not start until November of 2020 (which was partially due to insurance delays as well), but this meant that I entered the Western Pennsylvania winter with a large uninsulated wall in my house. Ultimately, the interior work was eventually completed when workers were not being pulled to work on other jobs. I had also worked with them to not only repair the damaged exterior but to replace the siding for the entire house as it would not have been possible to match the old T1-11 paneling in the damaged area alone. Due to pandemic supply chain issues, it took multiple months for the siding to become available. The siding was finally available in June of 2021 but the siding work wasn't fully completed until September 2021. This included weeks where no work was done at all while having piles of debris stacked in my yard. I had originally deleted this review, but in January 2022, Panhandle contacted me for the rest of the payment for the siding work for which I had never received a bill. After a couple of months going back-and-forth with them, in March of 2022 I finally received an emailed copy of the invoice, which made it clear that they had been sending the invoice to the wrong name and address for the past 6 months. I then started receiving communications from a scammy-seeming legal firm Texas asking for an additional $6k in fees in addition to the ~$6k that was owed to Panhandle. I paid the amount to Panhandle and was told they would take care of this legal firm (which seems to be used to pressure people into paying by sending emails claiming to CC law firms in my county for which I could find no other records). read more

DO NOT USE THEM. My upstairs neighbor flooded my condo. They showed up, handed me a piece of paper saying "here's the insurance phone and case #-we're here to look at the damage." They cut a hole in my ceiling. Took a piece of hardwood floor. Left-when I called the insurance co a few days later to see where they were-they never heard of them and did not authorize anything to be done. Eventually denied the claim. It's 5 months later-nothing done. No one else will touch it because Panhandle already "started" it. I guess it's not a big enough job to get their attention-finally brought my bf into it and we went to their office. They only looked at and talked to HIM, not me. Um...he doesn't live here or own it-I do. Very unethical-guess I'll have to take them to court. read more

Do NOT use this company for anything. We had pipes freeze in our home when we were out of town and the resulting damage was very significant. We hired Panhandle to do the mitigation (dry out) and repairs. They came and performed the mitigation (3 weeks) and then simply disappeared. My insurance company told me this is a common tactic, because usually the insurance company pays the mitigation fees directly to the company through a different claim. Once they get their (easy) money they disappear. We were calling them every day and being promised "We'll be there tomorrow" FOR 3 MONTHS. Bear in mind; we were cooking on a hot plate, had no ceiling on two of the 3 floors and minimal water. Finally, we had to fire them when we realized they abandoned us. We had to get our home repaired. They are a dishonest, unreliable company and I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

DO NOT USE PANHANDLE unless you will be on-site every minute to supervise their employees. We hired them for a clean-up at our home and could not be there when they were working. Upon checking on their work we found our entire home had be ransacked (someone had gone through everything including our bedroom drawers and my office file cabinets and bookcase) leaving definite indications of his searches. We still don't have a complete list of missing items. When apprised of our discovery to someone representing himself as the office manager in Wheeling he offered no apology, but instead commented on the turnover he has to endure in his workforce. Panhandle are consummate scam artists. They are dishonest, untrustworthy, greedy, deceitful, unethical, unprofessional, unscrupulous, and the most despicable ghouls I've ever personally dealt with. In February 2019 a windstorm damaged a small portion of my roof, tearing off shingles from an area no more than 6ft by 6ft. I immediately called my insurance agency, who recommended, given a $500 deductible, having someone perform an emergency board-up and provide an estimate for full repair before filing a claim--the idea being that if the area affected were small enough, repair work might not even meet the deductible. Not knowing who to turn to, I asked for a recommendation, and the agent I spoke with unfortunately recommended Panhandle to me. On 27 February I called Panhandle at 9.30am; shortly after 11am, two individuals arrived on behalf of Panhandle to install the tarpaulin, and within 20-30min the job was complete and they left. It was then TWO MONTHS LATER that I finally received a bill from Panhandle--not a free estimate for full repair as was promised to me when I first called, but only a bill for the board-up--for almost $1,500. Moreover, the bill provided no details whatsoever as to a breakdown of costs and charges, only "taxable" and "non-taxable." (If this already sounds like a transparent attempt to arbitrarily invent numbers to grab as much money as they can, you're absolutely right. Read on.) Of course I contacted my insurance agency again to file a claim. An insurance adjustor came to my property, and sent me an estimate: board-up, labor, removing old shingles, replacing with new shingles, total cost: $729. On the phone with Panhandle again. After sending their adjustor the insurance adjustor's estimate, they agreed to reduce their bill to $729... but insisted, despite obvious language to the contrary, that the insurance estimate was only for board-up. After 2 more months of going back and forth between my insurance company and Panhandle, including phone calls from Panhandle's corporate office in Wheeling and some yokel who hounds consumers about bills but apparently knows nothing about those bills, things came to a head and I spent an entire day on the phone back and forth once again between Panhandle and my insurance to try and come to a sensible agreement. During this horrible day I learned the following things: -Panhandle's breakdown, on their own computer, of the $729 that they "ever so graciously" had reduced the bill to, included $30 for the tarp, $193 for "emergency fee," and $580 for labor. Nevermind that the two individuals were at my property for a grand total of 30min at most, during the late morning and what are, by all accounts, normal business hours. -Panhandle refused to provide me with this detailed breakdown for my own records, stating that to give information like that out to consumers would hurt their business. (Gee, I wonder why?) -My insurance indicated that unfortunately, since the contact between Panhandle and I was a contract, there was nothing that they could actually do to help me - they could (and did) try to talk sense into Panhandle's adjustor, but at the end of the day they could (and did) bill me whatever they wanted. -In effect, I'm out more than $700 *just for a 30-minute board up and a $30 tarp,* and my roof still needs to be fully repaired. A repair which I will have to pay entirely out of pocket since the very reasonable estimate provided by my insurance company, and the payment exceeding my deductible which they provided to me, covers only the amount that Panhandle, that I was unlucky enough to be duped into contacting, has swindled from me. I hope it was worth it--I hope Panhandle is happy with the $729 they conned from me, because if they had treated me honestly, fairly, and reasonably, I may well have contacted them in the future for other jobs. As it is, they'll never get another cent from me, and I'm doing everything I can to ensure everyone knows just how awful a company they are. Panhandle Cleaning & Restoration will find every anti-consumer nook & cranny on the books to swindle you for as much as they can, and at the end of the day there won't be anything you can do about it. Worst moving company I ever hired. I was promised 4 men for a 1700 sq' house move. I requested boxes and was told they were included in the price. Only two men arrived minus any boxes. They did not cover any furniture; left many items behind; took two days to move furnishings; did not reassemble furniture at the new location as per their quote; left before completing the job. When they were paid, they would not provide me a receipt, leading me to believe they are also defrauding the government of taxes due. This company does not provide the service they promise in their estimates. I have written a letter to their CEO and intend to report them to the Better Business Bureau. read more

The absolute hands down worst company I've ever dealt with!!! They took approximately 5 months off & on to do a job that should have taken a couple of weeks. The work was slipshod & not entirely completed when I had finally had enough & told them not to come back! My calls to the company went unanswered. Absolutely unacceptable business and service. The work at my house was never completed and they left the room in a dangerous condition. After several attempts to get someone back to finish the work, I notified Panhandle Cleaning that I would find another company to finish the job. I then received a bill that far exceeded the estimate I was given. I spoke to the billing department multiple times and was promised that someone would call me back to discuss my complaints and to resolve the billing issue. Repaired my roof and it was leaking in same spot only one month later. I called them repeatedly and was told that someone would come back to inspect the roof. Every appointment that was scheduled, no one would show up. I finally gave up attempting to get them to fix it again. read more

I was very hopeful about the service to be provided as they were very responsive on a quick request. However, the quality of service was awful and the cost was very high. They came to our house to clean 5 rooms - approx 1000 sq ft and charged us $225 for a one time cleaning. The work was well below subpar - some rooms were not cleaned at all. There was dust on the furniture, the kitchen wasn't touched at all and the floors were not cleaned. I was shocked at the poor quality of cleaning. It looked like only one room was touched. I will never use them again. Completely unacceptable and charged a high rate for cleaning. I was told that it would be high based on the level of detail provided in the cleaning. So far from the truth. Would not recommend them to anyone. read more

Panhandle was quick to call back after I initially filled out the form on their website. However, they missed two appointments to come out and estimate the cost of the work needed to be done. The third appointment was made and they did come out. This was on a Friday morning, I was told that I would have the estimate the following Monday. Monday came and went and no communication from Panhandle. I called on that following Wednesday and was told that I should hear something by the end of the day. Still no estimate received. It is now almost 3 weeks since they came out for the estimate and 6 weeks since the initial communication. I still have not received an estimate. Let me start by saying I wanted to give this company 5 stars. We had a finished basement, dry wall ceiling the whole shabang! When we came home one evening it was under 3.5 feet of water. Though we got the water out ourselves it was sewage and need to be cleaned, sanitized and dry wall and content removed. This company was so I'm kind! Bill the supervisor, called us and explained how busy they were due to the recent rain our area was enduring. He gave us a rough quote and we accepted. They were there in two days. The men who came out were kind, sympathetic, and gave me updates. They left. Here is where my stars start to dwindle. I have not received a bill. I have called and was told 10 days it's been 3 weeks. I called oh we wait till we have a bunch of bills to send out. They won't even tell me if I am in the estimate given. This is a problem. I have tons of work to do on my basement. New walls, furnace, florring, washer dryer the list goes on. But I cannot continue if I do not know how my budget. This is frustrating and unacceptable who people trying to get there homes back on track ! read more

Unreliable company. I have been dealing with them for 2 months and they still have not come back to finish the job. Only did half the work and then charged us for emergency work which we had already completed. Called the company last week and they told me their computers were down and they couldn't schedule me, but they have never called back. If I could rate this at zero stars I would. I feel that I need to write this to save the next poor soul who calls Panhandle Cleaning and Restoration in a time of need. My husband and I had a water line break in our master bedroom wall on Labor Day. We called Panhandle and they were at our house within 2 hours... That's one of the few positive experience we can share. They extracted the water from our carpeting and removed the padding and set up all of their drying equipment and came to our home a few times that first week. They worked with our insurance company over the next MONTH going back and forth on a price. Their prices are astronomicaly high knowing that your home owners insurance is paying for it. During the negotiating time no work was being done on our home. We were staying in a hotel during the renovations. We couldn't ever get an answer on the amount of time that is was going to take from anyone. We ended up being in a hotel for 79 days and Panhandle worked in our home at best 18 days during the entire renovation. We finally were able to move back home in December. We had 3 pieces of furniture damaged when they were moving our things back in, thank goodness I was there to see it for my self. Their fix was a mahogany colored pen!! The gouges are still there just now the same color as the furniture. Not a very good fix at all. The carpet padding that was put back in has to be the cheapest they make, it's not comfortable at all. We've requested meetings with the owner and were told a meeting was going to be set up and no phone calls were ever returned. Word of mouth is the best advertisement and I would caution you.... Call anyone else first!! I wish we would have known prior to our call to them. read more
