Have enjoyed Pandora's excellently curated songlists, but the desktop version has fallen below the usability level. Had to turn off my adblocker, then got the ad, still no music. After mysterious finagling, some music came on for a few minutes then Pandora said my Premium session had expired (even though I was on an ad-supported session). Since pandora will not allow you to evaluate their App unless you subscribe to their service, I guess I'll leave my review of their app here: IT SUCKS! Call me crazy but when I choose an artist's channel, I'd like to hear a song by that artist somewhat more than "occasionally"! It's quite obvious what they're doing: They are putting a bunch of garbage songs (that they know you won't like) onto your playlist, so you'll waste your skips and "give in". DO NOT reward that type of coercive marketing by subscribing to their service!!! Switch to Spotify or Amazon Music if you're a prime member (you get a bunch of free songs). Another thing I find odd is that when your cellular data, or WiFi connection is low, their commercials still come through crystal clear, and load immediately but the music won't load, or gets interrupted. Hmmm. What does that tell you about where their priorities lie? TO PANDORA ADVERTISERS: Don't waste your money buying commercials with these people. Myself, and anyone else who's used this app for more than 5 minutes, knows that all you have to do to stop a commercial is shut down the app. "Click, click, swipe" and the commercial you paid for ends immediately. I only hear about the first 3-4 seconds usually. This app is designed to infuriate users to the point of giving them money. If you haven't ever used pandora, don't! I've used Pandora off and on for probably something like ten years, possibly more. I have fond memories of using it in High School. At the time, it was a free and easy to use alternative to CD's. Pre Itunes, Pre Spotify, Pre Amazon Prime Music. But the site hasn't changed in any significant way in 15 years. Except they added more ads, so that's something. The user interface is very smash and grab. They've always touted it was a "project," but the project never seemed to go anywhere. They never upgraded the code, nor the style with which they play music. Some differences to note from it's, and I hesitate to say competitors. Because Pandora is a "Radio Station..." Spotify allows you to create playlists with songs you like. Pandora does not. Itunes allows you to purchase songs you love and create playlists, Pandora... no. Amazon Prime allows you to go back a song if you skipped it on the station... Spotify and Pandora... nope nope nope. It really is an old school method to listen to music for people who can't afford paid accounts or who are stuck using what they know. It works in browser, so when you leave your phone at home it's what you tend to fall back to because you don't need to download anything to play music - which may be possibly how it's survived this long. I really wish they would make a comeback because many Bay Area millennials know the brand - I just don't think they will. And honestly, I'm not even sure they could. read more

Updated my Pandora App and now there are ads after every 4 or 5 songs. Some times there is more than one ad! #PandoraSucks Ripe for another app to pick up where Pandora was before they became so focus on making money instead of there loyal base of support. read more

They're great, UNTIL you try to unsuscribe. Then they make it so hard to cancel your subscription - they are like scam artists. I have been trying to cancel my subscription all morning long. There are some things that I like about Pandora. In spite of the fact that we do not pay to listen to it, the commercials are not overwhelmingly obnoxious in frequency. It would be nice if they weren't the same two every time. I like being able to choose pretty much any genre of music for which I'm in the mood. That being said, there are issues. One of them is that not only does the station glitch a lot, but after you've had it on for a while, they just quit playing. When you finally get out of the pool or the car, or whatever, you have a message that wants to know if you're still listening. Does that really make a difference to you? If I weren't listening I'd turn it off!! Next, when I do choose a style I want, I get what seems to be a loop of music that plays over and over. Don't tell me that there aren't enough "Oldies" to play weeks on end without ever repeating a song, I'm not buying it. So, to hear the same things two or three times in a couple of hours is annoying. I know that if I keep giving the thumb up or down to the songs I hear, I'll get a better selection over time. However, when I'm listening to the radio, I'm generally not anywhere that I can be doing that. So, just give me a good selection to start with. Now my biggest "pet peeve." Just because you choose a genre, that doesn't mean that you're going to get what you wanted. Today, I decided I wanted to listen to Christmas piano music, so that was the station I selected and yes, it was already there. I had it on for 40 minutes and got exactly 3 piano pieces. ALL the rest of the 30+ minutes were incredibly boring guitar solos! Really Pandora? Are you trying to tell me that there aren't enough Christmas song played on the piano? Nope, not going for that. It's safe to say that there are thousands of piano pieces for the holidays. While I realize that the guitar and the piano are both string instruments, this does not make them interchangeable, any more than you can inconspicuously switch a mouse and elephant on the grounds that the are both mammals. All things considered, I am Siriusly thinking it's time to switch to a better option. read more

Pandora is the best radio service I know. I love the fact you can select artists and genres you like and Pandora plays songs you want to hear. There is no way I could get this depth and variety from any other radio source, including SiriusXM. Even better, Pandora is FREE as long as you have an internet connection. The only drawback to Pandora is that it sometimes stalls when a high speed internet connection is not available. That's not a big problem for me because I have pretty good connections at home and work. On a good day, my 3G phone does just fine. The commercials don't bother me at all. They only come every three or four songs and are usually very short. If commercials bother you, get the subscription and they go away. Love it. I wish I could get it in my car in addition to SiriusXM. I would use Pandora for music and SiriusXM for news and talk. read more

Pandora is my second favorite internet radio. The Droid app works flawlessly. You search for an artist or song and a channel is generated based on that selection. It's pretty simple and it's free. The app seems to stall out on me more often than others, but that could just be an issue with my phone. I don't even bother to load mp3's on my phone. Pandora is the best Free internet radio. I choose my artist or genre and Pandora will select songs for you. I always listen when I'm using the internet or playing games. The free version has commercials after every few songs but that is no problem. You can also rate if you like the song or not. This helps to customize your listening preferences. Pandora used to be my go to station when there was a couple ads every half hour. It would be in the background much of the day. When it went to an ad seemingly ever 2-3 songs I jumped ship. The Pandora app has been removed from all my devices. There are many other music providers which are just as good with far less or no advertising. When I am on my smart phone, it starts to repeat the songs and on my Sarah Brightman station Pandora keeps playing sarah mclachlan, hello two very different ladies. Pandora is my editing buddy. There have been many a sleepless night when it was just the two of us, plugging away through photo and video files that had to be returned to clients STAT. Sometimes it's little bit of the super-curated "Alina's Chillout Mix," sometimes it's my easy-peasy Brazilian "Manha de Carnaval" and quite often it's the "Stand Up Comedy" station. It's all good. True, sometimes Pandora goes off in the weeds with its algorithm but it's a quick thumbs-down and we're back on track. Love this service. I had been using Pandora for some time. After a few months, it was enough. Last time I used it, I went for a 50 minute walk and didn't hear one complete song. The app kept dying out. I rebooted my phone warm and cold, nothing. On top of that, you can't skip more than a few songs an hour, so you're stuck listening to songs you don't want to hear. Sure, you can thumbs down, but skipping is easier. In addition, if you want to get rid of the ads, you've got to get the paid version. Finally, sometimes in mid-song the app drops and switches to another song, and the songs frequently took very long to load. Also, you can only create stations; you can't listen to existing stations. I've switched to iHeartRadio which is a godsend. I can skip up to six songs a station, not just 4 or 5 an hour like Pandora Not so limited here. Also, the app loads quickly and cleanly and never drops or slows. I can create my own stations or listen to the hundreds of existing stations across the states. The stations are also put into categories: local, by city, rock, country, talk radio, comedy, etc. Finally, the variety of songs played if I pick classic rock, for example, is much greater than Pandora. Pandora just kept playing the same handful of songs over and over again. There's more that's great about IHeartRadio, but you get the point. Now I certainly DO love radio. read more

Pandora follows the rule of diminishing reward: the first bite tastes better than the last, meaning-- after you have been a subscriber for more than two months, Pandora increases the frequency of the ads and also the frequency of "buffering" or dead-air time. When I first started using Pandora, I could pick a music genre and leave it play all day at work, some five hours or so. Then, gradually, over the weeks, Pandora would play fewer and fewer songs, requiring me to stop working, go over to my phone where I was bluetooth-ed into a Flip 3, and "X" out all the pop ads that would stop my music. Buffering...to infinity. Now, I can only get one song to play at a time before having to switch genres. So, I quit using Pandora altogether, because I know what they want: they want me to buy into their premium services "to avoid interruptions" and enjoy "less ads". To "enjoy". So they know already how annoying ads are, and they purposely thrust them onto you. So you are better off picking your favorite local radio station and streaming into them that way rather than all the problems and lack of music Pandora has caused. I just can't use it any more because it doesn't work. All with four-bars on signal strength from my carrier and three bars on in-house wi-fi. The transmission lines are there, but Pandora doesn't want to go along with the program. Not recommended. read more

I've tried various music platforms and so far Pandora is my favorite one. I really like the layout of the app and the variety of stations that are offered. I pay for premium and there are discounts for college students, which is a plus. Sorry Pandora, not enough music variety, you play to many songs of the same type in a row, even if you are a paying subscriber you still can only skip so many songs (what is the point of paying)?, if you click thumbs up on any song they will replay it over and over like a bad top 40 station. I have been enjoying the heck out of my comedy station, very funny, but I started to notice that it is all guys all the time, so I started adding seeds of some funny ladies...Margaret Cho, Wanda Sykes, etc....still nothing. So I started a Wanda Sykes station and used a bunch of funny ladies (and guys) as seeds yet still only every once in awhile do I get a lady but seriously hardly ever. It's just weird.
