Jardines, like every other colonia in most of Mexico does and should do, offers locals an array of…read moretacos in the form of the different taquerias that make up the local taco scene, each specializing in their own trade or unique trait. There is the 'nice' taquería, the 2x1 taquería, the original 'nice' taquería, the good Al Pastor taquería, the lengua tacos taquería, and also, as my brother's friends have infamously dubbed, the 'break-up' taqueria, among many others. There is but one taqueria known for their amazing tacos de Chamorro and their complimentary frijoles charros; its name: Tacos Mario.
This taqueria has slowly evolved over the years, from an empty lot that had a cart selling tacos at night 7 days of the week, to what is now a brick-and-mortar two-story establishment. Its evolution is a testament to the success this taqueria has had over the years. This eatery has conquered Jardines' residents, having the Taco de Chamorro as their champion.
The menu also includes tacos al pastor, bistec, longaniza and others, as well as quesadillas, gringas, and tortas, but if there is something else that can rival their simple taco de Chamorro it's their Gusano. The Gusano is a delicious combination of a large flour tortilla, shaped as a burrito, filled with melted cheese, grilled onion, avocado, and your choice of meat, and yes, you may order it with Chamorro to have the best of both worlds. Add some salsa between bites and enjoy until there is nothing left, except for the urge to have another one.
A great spot for late night tacos, this taqueria will continue to delight the heart and appetite of locals, as it has already done, for many years to come.
