I walked the entire loop at a brisk pace in less than 9 minutes, making it a great spot for a quick walk in nature.

This is a pretty crappy little park, wedged between Rte 202 and Conestoga Road. It consists of a…read moresingle trail that starts and ends at the parking lot, winding through mostly wooded areas, but also over a fire swampy place. See the pictures for details. There is constant and pretty loud traffic noise from Rte 202, which is a highway in this area. The enclosed nature of this place means you won't see any of the deer that are across 202 near the abandoned Aegon office building (another review, another day) or any other significant wildlife. This place just seems like an afterthought, something to do with some undeveloped land, a place to eat your lunch or make out in your car with that certain special co-worker. What prevents a one-star rating? The trail does have inclines, so you can get a decent walk. You can do the whole circuit in less than 10 minutes at a brisk pace. That, and somebody made the effort to label some of the trees. Also, it's so close to my workplace that it's hard to ignore. There's a decent stream that winds its way around which is nicely distracting. Still, with the traffic noise, you can't really feel close to nature. Oh, btw, no bike riding allowed, or golf, pets, alcohol, and be gone by dusk. So if your hamster wanted to bike to the fireswamp area to practice his night putting with a sixpack of Bud Ice, consider finding a Plan B.

2.4-mile long one way…read more Multiple entrances. Parking varies based on when you enter. Friends of Radnor trail park is a good entrance with parking and a dog park. Bathrooms available there too. Wayne art center has parking. There's also a small lot off of Conestoga road by the curve across from Brookside Ave. Trail ends at Radnor Chester road and Sugartown road. Radnor Chester is a bit dangerous of an entrance. No parking available there. Parking at the shopping center across the street from the Sugartown entrance. Multiple other entrances have parking lots throughout the middle of the trail. Entrance also available from the apts by the township building and accessible from the township driving range off of Iven ave. Trail isn't flat. Has a slight tilt toward the edges. Occasional benches. Entrance by the art center is beautiful and always decorated by local art. Nice and quiet. Beautiful nature escape in the middle of a town. Mile markers on the side. Gets pretty busy when it's nice out and on afternoons. The local high school often uses the trail for cross country practice in the fall.

We spent some time walking towards Strafford and enjoying the nice weather. This trail seemed well maintained, but was completely asphalt. Perfect for anything with wheels. There were interesting things along the way, a larger "Friends of Radnor Trail Park", with a lot of dog activity. The Wayne Art Center had some art work lining the fences of the trail. One area of the trail even had a small community garden, where the walkers could help themselves to anything that was growing. It's a nice place to be outside,but you are basically walking in an alley between back yards. Well not an alley, because an old railway was here. The trail had some interesting information about where each stop was along the trail. A great way to reclaim land from those tracks. Additionally, there were port-a-potties along the path. A nice day out, but I don't know if we would ever return.

This is a great little park to explore if you're not looking to hike too much. You have to look out…read morefor it while you're driving because it is right up a hill and in a tricky spot if you're not keeping an eye out. You also have to walk across a field to get into the hiking trail. If you make a right as you enter, keep walking until you reach a waterfall. It is a beautiful view! It is safe enough to walk up the rocks too. It is good for exercise and picnicking. Be sure to look at the weather beforehand though because it could get muddy.

Glen Providence is good for exercise, picnicking, communing with nature if you don't mind walking down a very long hill to see other parts of the park. Just remember you must make the hike back up

This sort of boring trail becomes more interesting as you head deeper in. At the very end of the…read moretrail is the prize for your efforts... it might be the most beautiful nature scene in the entire area. To really take it in, you have to go off the trail just a little bit. One slight problem: the trail has been closed because a very small part of the trail has severe erosion. There is a chance you could fall straight down maybe 10 feet if you go beyond the barrier and aren't paying attention... and then there is always the chance the earth will cave in on you as you are screaming for help. If you lack common sense, don't go back there. Parking is abundant. There are more trails on the other side of Ridley Creek. That part of this nature area is known as the Louis W. Scott Memorial Park.

Middletown Township Memorial Park is located directly across Balt Pike from Media Waterworks. It is…read morehome to the Middletown Township "Millennium Trail" which parallels the western side of Ridley Creek. The trail is singular and is pretty much a straight line, following the bank of the creek, with a loop at the far end, to bring you back out the same straight. There is a power station to the west of the trail which you see somewhat early into the walk. Various benches to sit on along the way, which is nice. Shaded spots, sunny spots, and various slips for creek access. There is pretty wooded scenery, nothing remarkable, but a decent way to get a nature fix for a 1/2 mile's walk (a mile up and back). Today's visit was early June and the trail was full of baby frogs (thumbnail size) hopping across, all headed to the meadow, from the stream. They were super fast too, otherwise I'd have taken a pic. I remember visiting this greenspace as a kid, but the trail is much newer. I presume it was added at the turn of this century, thus the name. I do not recommend this, but we used to ice skate here as kids. The ice got thick enough to hold the dads supervising these crazy adventures, but it was always really bumpy ice (NOT good), and you never knew when it was going to get deadly. So I don't condone this at all, but just a little history, that people used to do that here, back in the day when no one wore seatbelts or bike helmets and all.

I wasn't expecting much when I saw this was a 12-acre park, but, wow, 12 acres never looked or felt…read moreso big! Wide open greenspace, very picturesque and beautifully designed. The park has ball fields, picnic pavilion, playground, chess table, 1/2 mile walking trail, bridge over a stream, port-a-potty, dog bags, water fountain with dog bowl, etc. This is a beautiful spot! It's located behind the Westtown Train Station Gallery and the Salty Cow (formerly Goose Creek Grill). New township building being built adjacent to the park behind aforementioned businesses. They all use the same entrance from 926/Street Rd.

Located between the Ellis Preserve and the new Leister development, this gravel trail (not paved)…read moreruns along Goshen Road, just West of route 252. Parking is available at the trail head, which begins at the John West House (aka Square Tavern), located on the corner of 252 and Goshen Road (you enter the lot from Goshen Rd). This is convenient for a short walk, mostly for locals, not really a destination point for people looking for a new trail. It is wooded along the side that abuts the Ellis Preserve business campus; the other side runs along Goshen Rd. This trail is most convenient for walkers or joggers. It is really not wide enough for cyclists or people with pets to give fair clearance to others. (We are pet people so I say that coming from the side of those with pets. It really is appropriate to leave pets and bikes at home, and be fair to others.) It is roughly 0.48 miles (2500 feet) long. The length of the trail will not afford you the kind of walk you can get at nearby Ridley Creek park, nor the peace offered there, because there is a lot of traffic noise on Goshen Road, and the road is visible the whole length of the trail. As mentioned, this is best used by those with headphones looking to get some quick exercise and not looking to spend hours walking or sightseeing. It is more functional than decorative.

Parking is extremely limited at the Valley Road parking lot. One solution to not having a parking option there is to park at the YMCA. They have a long trail that leads from their property on to the Rocky Run Trail. But they don't advertise this. There is no signage. It's up to you to find the entry trail into the forest. How to do this: Simplest way is to park in the rear lot. Find the retaining wall. The entrance to the forest is there. Take the first trail to your left. Go beyond the picnic table area and bear left. Follow the trail until it intersects with the Rocky Run Trail. I recommend going leftwards. This will eventually take you past a small sewage treatment plant. Cross Valley Road and pick up the trail again. And this is where it gets really interesting.

What else do the police have to do here anyway? LOL True, this is located in an area is not as "swanky" as other NP neighborhoods but these people whose houses surround the field pay the same percentage in taxes as other Walllingford/Swarthmore/Rose Valley residents. Step outside of your bubble and enjoy this gem.

This is a little hidden gem of a park nestled right in the middle of a lower middle-class area of…read morethe generally swanky Nether Providence Township. Like most everything in Nether Providence Township, it is Spotlessly clean, with well groomed grass, and very secure, with police cruisers are usually standing by near the park. The park offers a near fifth of a mile walking path, soccer and baseball fields, and a playground area for toddlers, great utilization of its small 6 to 7 acre size.
