This is one of my few happy spots in Gainesville! I love the ocean and this sounds just like it with the water lapping at the shore. No it's not crystal clear water or actual waves crashing, but I can close my eyes and imagine even though I'm only 15 minutes from home. The small parking lot only has room for about 4 cars but the entire park is not that big and the trail only .3 miles round trip. With two benches, a grill and picnic table at the point I can see spending a few hours here for a picnic and some fishing just before sunset. The massive trees are something to behold as well, whether it be the giant oaks or the mile-high palms. There are one or two additional benches along the trail to sit and enjoy the scenery, as well as a few collection points for used fishing line or nets. Be careful at the other curb cut just west of the parking lot, the shoulder drops off pretty gnarly and looks like a great place to get your car stuck, of course a bigger truck might be fine. No restrooms or water, so come prepared. read more
