Care was adequate, office experience was awful…read more One of my adult children (girl, 20 yrs old) had her wisdom teeth removed in December 2023. Care was fine, doc and nurses were helpful, thorough and attentive. Office team is horrible. Started with the explanation of benefits/costs in the office before surgery during the consult in mid November. They evaluated my insurance and determined that the total cost was ~$4,000. To book a surgery date I was required to put 20% down the day of the consult or $800. So I paid. Day of surgery came a month later, I was required to pay the full balance that morning. There was no we will submit and you pay us the balance when the insurance company responds. So I paid another $3,000 that day or no surgery. This is early December. My insurance responds within 4 weeks, early January now and I overpaid by $1,800. So I contact the billing department and ask to be paid. We are reviewing the billing records and will have the doctors look at this and authorize a repayment. I check my bank account statement mid February...still no payment. I call again. Can I please be paid. Oh yes, no problem, we will have the physician review the billing and authorize payment. I explain how rude it is for them to conduct billing in this manner and hold my money for 2 months. I would like payment now please. It is now early March...you guessed it...still not paid back. Unbelievable, I am now writing online reviews and calling the billing department again. I am sure you can find another oral surgery group in the area that is capable. Avoid this group for the administrative hassle and disrespectful treatment of customers.

Dr was a decent guy. He actually did very good work, but the billing department is something else…read moreof its own. First it's $330 consultation fee. My total bill came out to $1000. Then do my due diligence through my insurance and my responsibilities is only $500 So they charge me $1000. They say this is the estimated charge .They're waiting for $500 from my insurance company to give me $500 back. It makes absolutely no sense. I am perplexed by this process. I don't think I would use this doctor again because of the billing department.

While the office is really nice and everyone is helpful and polite they will try to overcharge you…read moreas much as they possibly could. My son extraction was done in 2023 and we paid everything that we were asked to for consultation visit, at the day of procedure and at the follow up date. 2 years later they send you balance out of nowhere and they demand that you pay it or they would sent to collection. I realized they did over charge us in 2023 and over billed the insurance, for example they charge for 4 intervals of 15 min each of deep sedation which is 300 dollar each(1200 dollar total) my son extraction only took 15 min total how can you charge for 1 hour sedation when entire procedure took 15 min. Also in the consultation they would tell you the tooth are not impacted but later when they bill insurance they bill for impacted teeth which is more money and off-course the patient pays more out of pocket as well. I didn't understand all this when it happened in 2023 and I thought it is normal but when my second son had to do same extraction and I went with a different office I ended up paying less than what I paid with this Dr Costello, same insurance same everything, and whatever I was told my responsibility was is what I paid and they never asked me for anything else, but this costello practice after they over charge at the time of service and you pay all your out of pocket responsibility they bill you 2 years later for more money. I even took my second son to Dr Costello for extraction consultation and I was told all 4 tooth are not impacted and I scheduled the operation date, when I received the insurance pre authorization letter the Dr initiated it had different Information than what I was given at the consultation visit, it had that 2 tooth are impacted, when I called the office to ask why the insurance authorization has something different than what I was told at the consultation I got no where, this is when I said let me find another oral office and get second opinion, and I am glad I did because I was told all 4 tooth and not impacted and what they ended up charging was way less than what Dr Costello was going to charge and the procedure was very smooth and recovery was smooth. Again I didn't know I was ripped off until I had to go thru same wisdom tooth extraction for my other son. Lesson learned and I hope this review would save at least 1 family from getting ripped off.
