Palladium is a large indoor shopping centre in central Prague, it is one of the largest shopping centres in the Czech Republic and contains around 170 shops and 30 restaurants (many of which are on the top floor including McDonald's). The shopping centre is reasonably attractive, blending in from the Old Town vibes of the outside, but with a modern, glass-heavy atrium. International brands located here include Marks and Spencer, Starbucks, McDonald's, Marco O'Polo and H&M. I did find the centre to be slightly difficult to navigate due to the number of floors, again it wasn't a straight route between one level and another when using the stairs or escalators, and it would be easy to walk past them. Lack of seating around the mall is a bad negative, especially due to the size, and the walk you should expect between one store and another. 3* - A nice place to head to Prague if you're a tourist who has just realised "Oh crikey, I've left xxx back at home", or if you want to shelter from the sun or rain.

Huge mall with all the brandnames you would expect in a major shopping center. Good to grab a coffee or a pastry, just don't let her wonder too long...

Taking a break from the history and the monuments and the neo-renaissance buildings, here's the modern day shopping mall. Filled with plenty of opportunities to separate you from your money in exchange for manufactured goods and food. This is a large mall on four or five stories with an open central atrium and escalators/elevators to bring you from one level to the next. At least a hundred stores and if I wasn't exhausted from a day of walking tours and an early departure back to the US tomorrow, I'd have done some retail therapy. Food court, shopping, a few places to sit and watch people go by. It's A-OK. [Review 12255 overall, 2039 of 2019.]

"Palladium is where you go to see and be seen." Whenever I walk through Palladium's doors, I remember this sentiment stated by my taxi driver upon my arrival in Prague nearly two months ago. And he's right. This place is massive, glittery, modern, and clean. People are everywhere. And thank goodness for the store directory or I'd never find anything here amongst the crowds and sensory overload. If you're hungry, there's one long escalator that will drop you off on the eatery floor. They have pretty much every cuisine you could ask for from a mall. Other floors have basically anything else you could need. There's even a grocery store (Albert) in the bottom level. I'm a fan of the DM here and the Sportsimo shop is rather large. H&M is two stories and is part of a way larger community of fashion stops in the mall. There's also a Starbucks AND Costa AND Paul. Your coffee needs are beyond covered in Palladium. Vodafone is also helpful. They have English-speaking service providers if you need help with your mobile plan or a local sim card. So yes, if you need a bunch of stuff all at once, come here.

This is in the bathrooms here. Various women laughing at and inspecting your junk while you go.

If you're looking for a break from the historical look outside along the streets in Prague you can find it here. I didn't care much to do any shopping at the clothing stores because of lacking space in my pack and money. However we did make it up to the top floor a few times. It was better than searching the streets for miles on foot trying to find food. Instead we had a variety of options all in one place. For lunch one day we settled on NordSee. Some sort of Scandinavian restaurant chain with tons of delicious-looking seafood options. A bit pricey but well worth it. The night before we just happened in for the [FREE] bathrooms, WiFi and sat for tea and hookah/shisha to wind down. I think it was called something like "ChanChala". Really interesting place honestly. So yeah, I can at least vouch for Palladium's free toilets, WiFi (from BK) and the food options. Oh and I donno about the women's room, but if you have the chance take a glance into the men's room. The have some hysterical pictures of women on the wall at each urinal checkin' you out while you pee.

The biggest shopping center in Praha. Its modern, but a little bit confusing. I think its a good alternative for rainy days.

Rode into Prague Central station the other day and it was a quick and easy experience. It was…read moremerely an escalator away from the platform to the train station. Signage was slightly tricky to get onto the tram. There were automated ticket counters at the train station although it wasn't too clear which direction each stairwell was to get down to the local tram. There were a bunch of shops, restaurants, and coffee shops right beneath the platform and it was quite busy.

The station itself is a combination of old and new, originally built in the 1860s in a Renaissance Revival style, named the Emperor Franz Joseph Station the royalty by whose decree the station was built. Its current facade on the upper level east side was built between 1901 and 1909, in an Art Nouveau style. It's the largest station in addition to the largest Art Nouveau landmark in the Czech Republic. The dome is a work of art and I'm a little sad I missed it, though the pictures look elegantly restrained in its details. Major work on the station occurred in 1928 when the station and train lines began conversion to electricity. Post WWI additional tracks were added, then post WWII--after competitions to select designs for a new station, underground railway and check-in halls--a new terminal building was built between 1972-79 including an underground metro station, the first of its kind in Prague. Additional construction happened to replace tracks 1983-94, and continued modernization and maintenance 2006-2017. Given the two different structures and about two dozen above ground and additional underground tracks, this station is pretty large and has multiple levels. Recommend taking that into account when arriving to catch your next form of transportation. Both entrances have loops in front of the entrances for vehicles to circle and pick up passengers. The Art Nouveau building is located at the upper level, and has a large adjacent car park in front of it (or really on the roof of the lower level), that doubles as a bus stop* for multiple local and regional lines, and pickups for ride shares and bus tours. Most major railway routes within the Czech Republic and connecting to adjacent countries stop here, and you can also transfer to metro line C Hlavní nádraží station (separate ticket needed--easy to purchase at machines in the metro station). There are plenty of shops, restaurants and amenities inside, though since the immediate surrounding area is a park, you'll need to walk a few blocks away to reach other stores, hotels, and restaurants, though all in all still very convenient. Overall I found the station clean, with clear signage in Czech and English, pretty easy to navigate. I read some reddit threads on the potential sketchiness of the park in the nighttime around the station; did see some homeless folks though also saw people that looked like they were sitting on benches and hanging out. Of course best to be wary of your surroundings in an unfamiliar city, though coming from NYC it was pretty mild and I didn't feel unsafe. *this is not the main bus station though, that's about 15 minutes walking north of the train station.
